  1. I’ve got a quick question regarding programs that get loaded onto the PanelView Plus products. Let’s say I download a Runtime app from a PanelView, convert it into an .apa, and then need to recompile it into a Runtime app and downloaded it back to the HMI. Is there anyway, either through the PanelView or the program which I convert, to find out what its particular software compile version is? I’m trying to figure this out to put into a quick guide for myself and our company field service techs to avoid the pitfall of accidentally compiling a program with the wrong version. Any advice from the group is much appreciated!
  2. I'm getting ready to use a 4" PanelView800 with the Micro820, this is my first time, can anybody recommend a good Video, tutorial? I just going to display about 4 or 6 lines of "Instructions" and then have just 2 "Touch Buttons" a START & FINISH. Thanks
  3. Hello, I tried to download a .mer file. I have never seen this error before and how to fix this error. This is what I found from panel view plus compact manual. "Error: Unable to load non-Compact Machine Edition application. Please load a compact Machine Edition application." How do I load a compact machine edition application?? I attached a picture of the error I took. Thanks for reading :)
  4. I would like to create a Ladder logic file to do the following: When an Input is pressed, I want to start a Timer. When the input is pressed again, I want to write the Elapsed time of the timer to a word, and then reset the timer, and start the timer again. I tried putting a pulse Rising Edge Contact to start the timer, and a reverse contact (XIO) on the input to keep the timer going, but this only times half of the time. This is my first project with the Micro810 On RSLogix, I can reset the Timer, so I don’t have this dilemma. Any pointers?
  5. Hi, I have AB Micro820 PLC (2080-LC20-20QBB) which, acc. to the specs, can be both Ethernet/IP master and slave. I need it to be a master(scanner) and communicate with a KEYENCE DL-EP1 module, which is Ethernet/IP slave(adapter), but don't see any way to make that happen. How do you declare/configure Ethernet/IP slaves in Connected Components Workbench and how do you add slaves to your CCW project? I have an EDS file for the slave, but what to do with it? I imported it (have no idea where) with the EDS hardware installation tool which reported all was OK, but do not see the slave anywhere in the CCW. I only see in the Device Toolbox > Discover, but the only available option there is to remove it :) Thanks for any suggestions. Peter
  6. Greetings, Panelview Plus has a print screen capability, usb and ethernet. I thought this may be an easy way to print a report without using a PC. Simply create a screen with a report format and issue print screen command. Will this work? on a PV Plus 6, 10" screen, how will this look on a printed sheet? does it format to fit and fill the 8.5 x 11 sheet? Or would it just print a little 640x480 rectangle on the sheet? Anybody tried this? thanks!
  7. Hey All, I am trying to do some data storing on a PanelView+ and the built in data logging doesn't quite fit my needs. I was looking into the possibility of creating my own ActiveX control for doing this. Is it possible to create custom ActiveX controls for Factory Talk? If so, are there any tutorials for doing so you recommend? Also, are there any sites that have custom ActiveX controls to download? I realize this may not be the easiest thing to do, but if I could create my own I could use it for various machines and would make things a lot simpler in the long run. Thanks
  8. Hi all, So this is more of a theory / how would you attack this problem, question: I'm creating my first HMI and while playing around in FactoryTalk View Studio I noticed I can add objects to a screen. I can add a browser and with some work I can get it to display an HMTL file directly in the screen. So the browser in this case is opening a file stored locally, not something served up from the internet. Which opens up the question, could I write most of my HMI in HTML and Javascript? As a previous developer having the ability to control more of the UI would be amazing and perhaps easier to use/maintain. The only pitfall that I haven't been able to figure out is how to get real time values from the PLC. I'd welcome anyone's input on the idea in general or if someone knows a good method for getting/setting values from the PLC. Thanks!
  9. I am trying to use my RFIDeas pcProx plus reader with my micrologix 1400. I know that the 1400 can send and receive strings. I want to read in the id number from the reader and send it to an external database. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thank you
  10. Hello I was searching the internet and I came up with this forum. Im excited to be part of it as a newbe I have a question on a micro 1100 with pto outputs to a stepper drive. The drive I'm using is anaheimautomation MBC25081TB - Stepper Drivers with DC Input. I was told that the sourcing output of the 1100 would work fine with the clock input on the drive. this is how I wired the drive and this is how the drive looks. Im not even sure what Im doing I have the plc set up and see it pulsing but for the life of me I can't get the drive to move. Can you please tell me the errors of my ways. Im very new to this and its killing me trying to get this running.
  11. S7 200 Fatal Error

Hi guys, I have an S7 200 CPU 212 PLC and it is in system fault condition. I am using MicroWin V4.0 and I am connecting via 6ES7 901-3DB30-0XA0 USB PPI cable. I have followed the steps in the help file to find the fault code but cant seem to find how to rectify it. The code displayed in the fatal errors section is: '5 Permanent Memory error on user program' I was hoping that I could upload the program to my laptop, clear the PLC memory, then download the program back to the PLC. This does not seem to be possible and I am now stuck with a PLC in fault. I do not have a backup copy of the program so if I clear the memory I will be stuck. Any advice greatly appreciated
  12. Hi, I have PLC slc500 /3, connected with panelview 550 DH485 I have to replace the panel view by another available one which is different in part number my old one is 2711-B5A2 the new is 27711-B5A5 communication port for the new is 9 pin RS232 (DH485) when i read manual for panel view it mentioned that if i want just point to point (it is my case) i can change port configuration for the lower port of PLC to be DH485 and use cable 9 pin from 2 side first I don't know how to change port setting, if i change it how i connect to modify or troubleshoot the plc later? could i make a cable form the above port (RJ45) of PLC which is used for old panel and configured to DH485 to the new port 9 pin RS232? why when i order a panel view should mention the "ser" by the way it is Ser H??? When I try to buy new one , I didn’t find Panel view (obsolete ) gust find panel plus is it direct replacement for panel view or I need to rebuild the application program from beginning?
  13. Hi all, While upgrading HMI from PanelBuilder32 to FactoryTalk View I encounter a problem using I/O to interface with a PanelView Plus. The communication is defined in RSLogix 5 program as Rack 3 group 2 Size 3/4, range 32-37. PLC communication with the panel is not changed, but buttons in old PanelView using I:34 and I:35 work, in the new PV+ they don't, all bits remain zero. Block transfers Read and Write are all sending data to rack 3 group 2 module 0. While testing I noticed O:32 is used as status bits by the Block Transfers - maybe inputs I:34 and I:35 are also used for somethings similar by a new PanelView Plus? Thanks!
  14. I am trying to upload from Panel View Plus 600 to my laptop using Factory Talk View ME via Ethernet. The RSLinx Enterprise does see the Panel View but when I hit the upload button I get the following error message: "The source selected is not a valid device. Please select a valid source and try again." Does anyone know what is the issue? I am attaching screen shot to visualize what is happening.
  15. I hope no-one minds that I'm cross posting this from the RA forums, I just wanted to get as much visibility as possible since there doesn't seem to be anything on the net about this. Any issue, let me know, or feel free to delete it. I'm trying to use a startup macro in my manual mode HMI application to copy the current state of my outputs to the inputs so the machine does not move or change state when switching between auto and manual modes. However, when I run the application on my PanelView Plus400 HMI, I'm immediately greeted with errors like "<macro expression>: Unable to read the expression""Read from <tag> failed"Some info: This only occurs for lines that set a tag's value to another's; if I set the tag to just a numeric value (like in the first line of the sample below), its executes just fine. There are two separate HMI applications. One is for normal / automatic operation. This one is to allow the operator to manually activate individual solenoids on the machine to aid with building, setup, and troubleshooting; it is not seen nor used in production. This occurs long after the plc has booted (manual mode is not the startup application) - so running anything on first-scan is not an option - and the HMI has no trouble communicating to these tags during operation. They are RSLinx Enterprise tags, I think - not HMI tags; they only exist in the controller / ladder. I'm able to successfully browse to them online in FTView. The expression editor reports the "tag = tag" syntax is valid.Lastly, I'm using FT View v7, but I'm creating v5.10 runtime applications. Here is an excerpt of the macro: {[Gage]MANUAL.MODE_ON} = 1;{[Gage]MANUAL.STATION_1_ESC_CLAMP_EXT} = {::[Gage]Program:Station_1.STATION_1_ESC_CLAMP_EXT_SOL};{[Gage]MANUAL.STATION_1_MOV_CLAMP_EXT} = {::[Gage]Program:Station_1.STATION_1_MOV_CLAMP_EXT_SOL};{[Gage]MANUAL.STATION_1_PROBE_EXT} = {::[Gage]Program:Station_1.STATION_1_PART_PROBE_EXT_SOL};{[Gage]MANUAL.STATION_1_ROTATE} = {::[Gage]Program:Station_1.STATION_1_ROT_180_SOL};{[Gage]MANUAL.STATION_1_SLIDE_EXT} = {::[Gage]Program:Station_1.STATION_1_SLIDE_EXT_SOL};... and so on...FTView IS able to successfully execute the macro when I test it on the development computer while it is connected to the PV+ over ethernet. If the PV+ is not connected, or the application is running solo on the PV+, no dice / same errors. I have also tried using HMI tags in all combinations in the tag and expression by tying the RSLinx tag to an HMI tag. So far, they've had the same results as above. Absolute worst case, I could edit the ladder to latches or unlatches the inputs off of a one shot from the manual mode on bit, but it would require 7 manual program changes across many in-production machines and would be very time consuming. I've searched everywhere, and the manual's not been any help - maybe I don't know what to look for. Thanks for your time everyone, ~Anthony
  16. Hello all, I'm quiet new to control and logic systems, I'm still learning. I have to develop a circuit/logic for an application. I was wondering if Micro 810 can be used for this & the objectives of the application are: 1. whenever Signal A(0-24V) is high for the first time in the cycle and Signal B(0-24V) goes high then the solenoid X(24V) should be ON. 2.when signal B is low then the solenoid X should be OFF. 3. If in an instance signals A and B are opposite to each other for more than 2 seconds then a signal should be sent to E-stop. If not Micro 810, what are the other products that are suitable for such application? I know this can be done by normal relay board and some timers; I want to use a controller for this if its cheaper in price. Regards, _SKR
