  1. Hello guys, Newbie on this site. I am looking for a run time free Allen Bradley .NET driver. Basically a library (.dll) that implements communication protocols to Allen Bradley PLC's ( CIP, Ethernet/IP, etc.). Can someone point me in the right direction please ?.
  2. I have just started programming PLC's and the first thing I have came up against is a 4-20ma signal to a analog card for a Turbidity meter. The problem I am having is the reading is very erratic. Is there any way to get it from jumping around so much?

  5. FX3U-485ADP-MB

Hi! I have some concern dealing with the FX3U-485ADP-MB device which will be plan to install and a total of 17 modbus devices(Chinese brand converter 4-20mA to RS485) where going to communicate. I'm new to this feature of FX3U family and I'm using GxWorks2. Is there anyone that can guide me through this device/development? Is there a program block for this like the one I have been use for analog modules(FX3U-4AD)? Looking forward to your help!   Thanks a lot! Marky
  6. I am trying to export the Modbus points lists from a DAServer in Archestra SMC but I am getting an error message shown in the attached image. All options are greyed out and I cannot export the points list from the PLC node. I know there are points configured on the PLC node because data is updating the the InTouch application. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated!

  9. hI.. I've asked for this in the past and, so far, haven't been very lucky.  Most of the projects I run into have 4 or 5 axis, lots of analog and sensor input.. or don't have the HMI part of the "Machine" I have a nice NJ 101-1000 with the NA 7 inch HMI.. along with a R88BD-KNA5L-ECT servo and a 50W  G5 motor.. type  R88M-K05030H-S2.  All On a nice rack with power supplies and some EtherCAT I/O  (It all functions .. even "MC Test Run" gets the motor to jog ..    But.. no way to "home" it.... The motor is in "rotary mode"   but... it's NOT got an Absolute encoder.. it's a incremental... sniff!     I just want it to stop on zero ..Or anywhere, and call it zero ... and make moves plus an' minus in degrees, that's all....  I assume I have to send it some signal (push button) while it's spinning that tells it it's in "Proximity" to home and it then it does something which makes it end up on zero.    I've homed a lot of linear motors (LinMot) an' they are very easy to work with.    But, Omron has 10 different homing modes .. and they aren't very well explained.  Well, they aren't explained at all in that 502 page user manual... you have to already know how to do it, in order to understand the explanation... Example:  Take the "Home Proximity Input Signal"  .. I can imagine what it might do, to help control a move to home.  I can even imagine what's making the signal .. and that somewhere there is a place where the homing parameters are set... like the "axis setting table"  .. but, it's not a Global Variable, or a Data Type .. I could imagine it gets into the system from the CN1 I/O connector? or some I/O somewhere? But.. I grow weary of imagining how this system actually works..  Building a simple working project, from a tutorial, or even downloading a simple working project (.smc2 file) and making the minor adjustments to fit my equipment ... would make all the difference in the world.   I've searched Omron's Libraries of .smc2 files.  Haven't found any yet that aren't on the level of "Top Gun" (a seriously complicated project for a 1-week training class) ... Oh there are several.. related to IAG object files .. but those Library files are not "working projects" intended to serve as a Tutorial.. they are limited projects, ready to be configured with IAG Object files, and "your" programming ... So that you can write the programs you need "faster"... which is nice... but, no help here. Somewhere out there.. is a nice simple .smc2 project file where you get to control a simple motor from the HMI  ..Preferably using an NJ CPU and a NA HMI .. home the motor.. jog the motor and input a few "go-to" positions... sigh!..   Like you would do in a One or Two Day class...   This kind of thing should be already be available in the Sysmac Library ... Thanks much for listening..  sorry about the rant.
  10. Hi everyone. I'm new to this community but finding a lot of useful information and active discussions going on in these forums.   To those who are familiar with DNP3 protocol and AB products, I was wondering if anyone know whether there is an alternative to Prosoft's current MV169-DNP used on Compactlogix RTU applications.  I've been searching everywhere and can't seem to find a substitute product.  Reason I'm asking is because prices are going up every year for their products (which are already quite costly) and having an alternative means we can be more prepared in case there is any change in the future. Thanks in advance!
  11. We have a contract to refurbish/upgrade a filling/bottling machine. We have the machine but not its control panel or PLC. We've built a new control panel based on the original drawings. We've changed the obsolete 1756-MVI/A serial comms modules to ProSoft MVI56E-MCM modules. These two comms modules are to talk to sixteen (16) Endress & Hauser Promass 63MT08-WOW00A9092B mass flow meters - each module talks to 8 of the 16 meters on separate RS-485 networks. My problem at the moment is that there seems to be no way of knowing the port configuration parameters (i.e. baud rate, data bits, stop bits, parity etc.) without having the original 1756-MVI modules. I should add that these meters are 'blind' with no built-in keypad or display for programming or querying the program. I've approached E&H in the hope that they would have a method of extracting the configuration from the meters but they are saying that the meters are so old that all their expertise and equipment for performing such a task is no longer around. I'm going to attempt to track down the original equipment manufacturer in the hope that they may have kept records. Other than connecting up to a meter and trying multiple combinations of settings in the hope that we hit on the right one, does anyone have any ideas on how we can make progress with this? Also, the meters use what appears to be E&H's proprietory Rackbus protocol. The original 1756-MVI modules could talk to them (presumably!). Any ideas if the new ProSoft modules will be able to?

  16. 8_decimal Data Displays as only 4_Decimals !

I am Facing Problem Getting Kwh Readings From My Satec MFM(PM130-PLUS), Required for an easy & reliable Monitoring On Energy Consumption . Connected via RTU Slave Interface with SCADA User Interface (GE_Cimplicity). Here's what happening : Actual Kwh Reading has 8_decimal data digits on MFM LED Display but on Cimplicity SCADA User Interface Screen It only able to Display it as 4_Decimals point digit, eg, 63290058 kwh shows as 0058 , and 15299999 kwh shows as 9999 , and then 15300001 kwh shows as 0001 i.e 1 only! Plz Do a Rply , your slight approach to my Query Will be highly Appreciated!! :)

  22. CJ2M Modbus communication

Hello everyone, in my project I have to connect CJ2M-CPU34 with CJ1W-SCU31-V1 module to external device (see technical specifications in attachment). The CJ2M should read and write a few values from the external device. Unfortunately, I dont have a chance to try this communication before, just during system start. I never make any project on Modbus. Anyone can send me a program to communicate with this device, according to documentation in attachment?   38RBS_Modbus_1.pdf Modbus_2.pdf
  23. Simon was a game that I remember well when I was younger. This simple game can teach us how to program sequencers and look for inputs in a correct order. I believe that this can be a great leaning problem for PLC’s and HMI’s. You can learn about bit manipulation and sequencers in the PLC. HMI timing and control is also shown because of the time to play sounds and update to the next random set of lights.   Here is part of the post …   Building a PLC Program That You Can Be Proud Of – Part 5   Simon is a memory game introduced in 1978. It has four coloured buttons, each producing a particular tone when it is pressed or activated by the device. A round in the game consists of the device lighting up one or more buttons in a random order, after which the player must reproduce that order by pressing the buttons. As the game progresses, the number of buttons to be pressed increases. If the wrong button is hit the current game is over. Our game will have a high level score and a current level score.   We will be using AdvancedHMI to communicate Modbus TCP to the Automation Direct Do-More Designer Software Simulator.   YouTube Video of the game being played: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrfnDHCeJjk   Note: The PLC and HMI programs are provided free of charge and are an excellent way to learn PLC / HMI programming.   Here is a quick review of the programming series so far. If you are new to the site, we recommend reviewing the other parts in the series first. In part 1 we looked at writing PLC programs to control a traffic light using discrete bits and then using timed sequencing using indirect addressing. Part 2 used indirect addressing for inputs as well as output to control the sequence of pneumatic (air) cylinders in the program. Part 3 and 4 we returned to the traffic light application and expand our program significantly. We looked at the sequence of operation using Input, output and mask tables.   The first thing that we will do is look at the HMI programming.
