  1. Hello! I am working on a quote for a new project that will use EtherCAT but also requires DeviceNet for some legacy components.  Has anyone successfully used the Beckhoff EtherCAT coupler (EK1100) with the DeviceNet Master Terminal (EL6752) and an Omron PLC as the EtherCAT master? My concern is that the coupler will only communicate with the Beckhoff EtherCAT master, but since it is so much more expensive to get the new Omron parts to communicate DeviceNET i am hoping this could be an option.  The equipment is extremely simple and price is a major consideration.   Thank you!!!

  5. CIF11 Modbus Slave

Hi dears  I have one CP1H CPU and CIF11 option port on it. CP1H will be slave and I want to use modbus slave function. (ABB is Master and CIF11 is slave) I check the logic with modbus poll and i didnt have any Receive from CIF11. I have some questions: 1- which terminal in CIF11 must be used? SDA+,SDA- or RDA+,RDA- ( I use Modbus RS485 two wire ) 2- I mounted CIF11 on port 2 and in setting of port 2 I Choose RS-232C in Mode, Stop bit=1, parity=none , Data bit=8. is there another settings? 3- I set CIF11 DIP switches ( ON,ON,ON,OFF,OFF,ON) is it OK? 4-I change 4,5 DIP Switches to ON in CP1H.   Thanks
  6. Is it possible to use FX3U-485ADP-MB as a serial port to send and receive user defined string/data to and from a computer? I have a FX3U-32M PLC and two FX3U-485ADP-MB adapters. I have been using PLC with one adapter as Modbus Master. Now i want to use both adapters, where one will be Modbus Master as usual and the other I want to use to send and receive data to and from computer terminal (Example - Realterm). I have a third party 232/485 converter which works really well. Lets me just describe my requirement straight forward. I want to display process parameters on a windows computer based user interface (UI) and also set some variables in PLC from the same UI. The UI has access to serial ports of computer.

  8. Hello I have a scenario that's been bugging me for some time now. The scenario consists of a Micrologix 1400 that I need to control it's output from modbus/tcp. In detail what I really need is to be able to manipulate the O0:0 through modbus/tcp. The PLC would be the master and I would be the slave that triggers the connection to the master. I'm using a Modbus-Client on my PC and that should be the slave. Any idea as to how I can manage that? Currently I can send data to the master but everything is "stored" on B10 and I have no idea how I could write directly on O0. Thanks a bunch guys. PS: I'm borderline noob.
  9. Password Protected LS Master K

I have a customer that has a LS Master K PLC, and he needs me to make some changes to the program. I am not the original program writer so I do not have the original program nor the password. And the company that originally made this program does not exist anymore. Does anyone have any suggestions on a software or a device that can help me either find the password or just bypass it. I need help ASAP Please!!!!! I saw there is a password breaker while i was googling, but the software cost $50, and it looked a little sketchy so I am kind of hesitant to trust 1 purchasing the software and 2 downloading it only my work laptop. Please help!!

  14. Rx3i to Balluff IO Master

Wanting to write to Balluff Smart Lights via IO Link Master IP #BNI EIP-502-105-Z015.  I can find lots of literature on setting up the communication via E/IP in RSLogix 5000 but haven't located anything with Machine edition for writing the data over IP.  I am utilizing an Rx3i platform with IC695CPU315 and IC695ETM001 for network access
  15. Hello,  I am working on a project to connect a PLC (Micro820 by Allen Bradley) to a simple RS-232 alphanumeric OLED display. I am not too familiar with structured text language, but I have worked with micro-controllers that use similar high-level languages (mostly C-based).  My question is: is it possible to use connected components workbench to program my Micro820 to output ASCII commands to an off-the-shelf RS-232 alphanumeric display? Are there libraries that make life easier to do this?  I welcome any recommendations to related reference material or command tutorials, thanks!
  16. Mitsubishi iQ-R Series

Hi Has anyone got any real life experience with the new Mitsubishi iQ-R series?  I have been assigned a major capital project to replace our old ageing DCS system.  Our current PLC backbone is about 40x Q2ASHCPU, 10x Q06UDEHCPU and about 2xA2SCPU all linked up via Melsecnet/10 network with communication links into the DCS system via Modbus RTU utilising the QJ71MB91 modbus card. Due to the nature of my companies process and the limitations on plant downtime it is estimated this project could take up to 5 years to complete, with this in mind I am wanting to install a system that will not be obsolete (or unsupported) in a few years, hence, I am very interested in the new iQ-R series with it being Mitsubishi's latest and greatest.  However, recent communications with my local Mitsi rep is not filling me with confidence that the iQ-R series is not as well supported/developed as the Q series.  A major requirement during the development stages of this project is the new ability of the new processors to be able to talk to the old DCS up until a point where the DCS nodes will be completed removed and replaced with a modern SCADA package.  Hence, the requirement of a Modbus Slave card for the iQ-R (i.e. a QJ71MB91 equivalent) which I am told is in development, but has no fixed timescales.  Previous experience with Mitsubishi developments of cards is normally years not months. Any information anyone can provide on their experience of the iQ-R series would be greatly appreciated and if anyone knows if a Modbus Slave card is in development that would be useful.  I realise i could utilise the Q series extension rack with a iQ-R processor but this is not the route i want to go down. Thanks for any help and apologises for the war and peace. Cheers Matt
  17. Beckhoff and AS-Interface

Hi, I’m trying to control 10 Safety switchgear using AS interface, and since I’m using Beckhoff as a PLC I want to use "KL6211 | AS-Interface master terminal" as a Gateway but since this is the first time I’m using Beckhoff I’m a bit lost, So my questions are: -          Is it a good idea to use a Beckhoff ASI terminal? -          How to configure it? -          Is there a possibility to configure it using embedded PC ( I’m using CX2030)? Excuse my English.
  18. Logo!8 sensor compatibility/display

Hi there,  I am brand new to the world of PLCs. I'm working on a project and we will be using the LOGO! 8. We will be monitoring a tractor's ground speed, wheel speed, (wheel slip using those two), oil pressure, tachometer, EGT, and system voltage.  As I said, I'm brand new to all of these things. Any tips or advice to get started? Or things to avoid? Specifically when choosing sensors. Also, we were thinking of a tablet to display these measurements in real time. Any suggestions? I was thinking the Simatic HMI touchscreen may be a better option for compatibility. This will be on a competition tractor, though. From experience, how durable/rugged are these displays? It would mostly be subjected to dirt, vibrations, and quick jerks.  Any advice to help guide my Googling adventures would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you.
  19. Master/Slave Communication

Hello guys, I am using Fatek PLC's to communicate with each other as a Master & Slave through zigbee which is connected through RS485. And I succeed. But the issue is that I have to communicate each other at a distance of about 2km where zigbee out of range to each other. I am bit confused here; 1) whether I use RF booster? Does it work? 2) Should I introduce extra PLC as a repeater between master slave? But this(extra added) PLC repeater also become as a master(Master Repeater).or any idea? Most important I can using Fatek Protocol or Modbus RTU or Modbus ASCII prootcol.

I am Facing Problem Getting Kwh Readings From My Satec MFM(PM130-PLUS), Required for an easy & reliable Monitoring On Energy Consumption . Connected via RTU Slave Interface with SCADA User Interface (GE_Cimplicity). Here's what happening : Actual Kwh Reading has 8_decimal data digits on MFM LED Display but on Cimplicity SCADA User Interface Screen It only able to Display it as 4_Decimals point digit, eg, 63290058 kwh shows as 0058 , and 15299999 kwh shows as 9999 , and then 15300001 kwh shows as 0001 i.e 1 only! Plz Do a Rply , your slight approach to my Query Will be highly Appreciated!! :)

This is an example (with code) on how to cycle user messages on the Keyence KV-D20 display. The code is written as a sub-routine that is easily incorporated into a Keyence KV series PLC. The code is proven to work - I've used it many, many times. A brief rung-by-rung commentary explains the basic operation of the code.

  25. E1151 New Display Register

Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help me. I have 4 test rigs setup with E1151 HMIs and FX3U PLCs (with two ADCs and one DAC).  They are running pretty well, and the HMI changes block fine when using Jump to Block, but when I try to get the PLC to change the HMI's block using the New Display Reg it becomes very temperamental. For automatic testing I want the PLC to prompt the HMI to change block, so I set it up with a PLC register, then set the HMI to use this register for the New display reg.  When I turn the PLC and HMI on I can run through the test, and at the end it changes screen perfectly.  However if I run the test again the HMI appears to "forget" to change screen.  I have checked the new display register and It lists the correct screen, but the HMI doesn't change. So far I have tried adding "SCRR" too the command list to use short recipe names (saw this on a previous post), and tried reducing the amount to data transfer between the HMI and PLC to see if it was a latency issue, but neither have worked. Has anyone else witnessed problems like this?
