  3. hello everyone, I'm trying to connect PC with Micro830 with RS232 cable for transfer serial data. However, the PLC can not receive the character from PC. I used ARD function block to read the characters from PC.  there is no error and the output of ARD function block is 0 when I debug ladder programme. the serial communication state LED illuminated once I send a character from PC to PLC. the channel of input is 2 which is the embedded serial port. I use an adapter from USB to RS232. Email: jeremietang531@gmail.com
  4. Mitsubishi iQ-R Series

Hi Has anyone got any real life experience with the new Mitsubishi iQ-R series?  I have been assigned a major capital project to replace our old ageing DCS system.  Our current PLC backbone is about 40x Q2ASHCPU, 10x Q06UDEHCPU and about 2xA2SCPU all linked up via Melsecnet/10 network with communication links into the DCS system via Modbus RTU utilising the QJ71MB91 modbus card. Due to the nature of my companies process and the limitations on plant downtime it is estimated this project could take up to 5 years to complete, with this in mind I am wanting to install a system that will not be obsolete (or unsupported) in a few years, hence, I am very interested in the new iQ-R series with it being Mitsubishi's latest and greatest.  However, recent communications with my local Mitsi rep is not filling me with confidence that the iQ-R series is not as well supported/developed as the Q series.  A major requirement during the development stages of this project is the new ability of the new processors to be able to talk to the old DCS up until a point where the DCS nodes will be completed removed and replaced with a modern SCADA package.  Hence, the requirement of a Modbus Slave card for the iQ-R (i.e. a QJ71MB91 equivalent) which I am told is in development, but has no fixed timescales.  Previous experience with Mitsubishi developments of cards is normally years not months. Any information anyone can provide on their experience of the iQ-R series would be greatly appreciated and if anyone knows if a Modbus Slave card is in development that would be useful.  I realise i could utilise the Q series extension rack with a iQ-R processor but this is not the route i want to go down. Thanks for any help and apologises for the war and peace. Cheers Matt
  5. Hi all. Firstly, I am not a programmer, I just need advice. We have HMI's using NS-Runtime and we keep getting this message. Now, this is why I am contacting you all. This has happened over 20 times on 20 different HMI's which we have replaced over the last 3 years. We have been told by our software supplier that the com port is "on it's way out". There is NO WAY over 20 hmi's over that period will deveop com port faults. So my question guys, can someone give me a few tips on what to try before I change HMI's over ervery dang mponth please? I am really at the end of my tether here. We connect our HMI's to the Omron PLC's via a standard serial. If we change to another HMI the machine communicates after obviously a long period of downtime. Should we reset the plc? I will take ANY advise please guys.
  6. delta hmi communication speed

Hello, i have DOP-07s411 delta hmi and i want to interface it with microcontroller using modbus (RTU) protocol over RS485( 8 bit data,1 stop bit, parity none,19200 baud rate). i have good speed of communication if i do not use macros. But as i place background macro(background macro is only 4 lines ) it slow down and  updates the display at every 3 seconds. i cant able to figure out what is the problem. I want to update display of  HMI very fast. Please help me to troubleshoot the problem.

  8. Hi,  I'm trying to test the serial communications with my Micro820. I acquired a 2080-SERIALISOL so I could have "someone" to talk to. I want to use RS485, so I figured that I'd have to connect: Modbus pin 1 (D+) to serialisol pin A1 (+485) Modbus pin 2 (D-) to serialisol pin B4 (-485) Modbus pin 3 (GND) to serialisol pin A2 (GND) Now when it comes to CCW, the thing gets a little harder. I know I need to use the MSG_MODBUS block (in fact I need 2, one for the modbus and another one for the serialisol), and I guess I specify the interface I'm using on the TargetCfg field (data type MODBUSTARPARA). But how do I figure out that the Addr (UDINT) and Node (USINT) values are for my Modbus and Serialisol? Or am I doing it wrong? Does anybody know of any place where I can get some more guidance or even a funcional ladder program? Thank you in advance

  18. Hello all, I'm using MC Protocol Format 4 to communicate with a VB6 application on a PC. I want to make some slight modifications, and I am getting a sum check error being returned by the module to my application. I believe (haha) I am calculating the sum check code correctly for Format 4 as most commands do work (reading for example). I was wondering if anyone knew of the buffer memory location on the QJ71C24N card that stores what the card is calculating for the sum check? This way I can have a troubleshooting tool to see what I am calculating wrong. I have looked through the manuals (application/basic) for the C24 already as well as the Melsec Reference Protocol manual.  I have attached the error code for reference, again, I am only looking for what the C24 calculates as the sum check code. Thanks

  21. Hi All. I have AB PLC Micrologix 1500 and HMI PV600. In factoryTalkView ME I have installed RSLinx Enterprise and I have setup communication setting I have created one shortcut like PLC1 linked it to PLC ML1500 which I can see in right side of setting pan. I copied these settings to Runtime target. Now while giving animation in screen e.g. colour, I am trying to browse tag but it's not showing anything in online folder. I clicked show all server, refreshed all folders and restarted RSLinks Enterprise service also but still can not find tags. I ran runtime on PC using OPC created in RSLinx Classic, Its working fine, I can browse tags. But it's not working while I download it in HMI as I can see in HMI configuration network and comm setting there is only RSLinx Enterprise is available. Please suggest me solution on this issue.
  22. Simon was a game that I remember well when I was younger. This simple game can teach us how to program sequencers and look for inputs in a correct order. I believe that this can be a great leaning problem for PLC’s and HMI’s. You can learn about bit manipulation and sequencers in the PLC. HMI timing and control is also shown because of the time to play sounds and update to the next random set of lights.   Here is part of the post …   Building a PLC Program That You Can Be Proud Of – Part 5   Simon is a memory game introduced in 1978. It has four coloured buttons, each producing a particular tone when it is pressed or activated by the device. A round in the game consists of the device lighting up one or more buttons in a random order, after which the player must reproduce that order by pressing the buttons. As the game progresses, the number of buttons to be pressed increases. If the wrong button is hit the current game is over. Our game will have a high level score and a current level score.   We will be using AdvancedHMI to communicate Modbus TCP to the Automation Direct Do-More Designer Software Simulator.   YouTube Video of the game being played: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrfnDHCeJjk   Note: The PLC and HMI programs are provided free of charge and are an excellent way to learn PLC / HMI programming.   Here is a quick review of the programming series so far. If you are new to the site, we recommend reviewing the other parts in the series first. In part 1 we looked at writing PLC programs to control a traffic light using discrete bits and then using timed sequencing using indirect addressing. Part 2 used indirect addressing for inputs as well as output to control the sequence of pneumatic (air) cylinders in the program. Part 3 and 4 we returned to the traffic light application and expand our program significantly. We looked at the sequence of operation using Input, output and mask tables.   The first thing that we will do is look at the HMI programming. 25. I'm designing a PLC system in which a Micrologix 1400 talks Modbus TCP/IP with three Modbus TCP-capable SCR controllers. I've never done Ethernet/Modbus TCP communication using the 1400, so I'm asking the following questions: 1. Can I connect the 1400 PLC and the three devices to an Ethernet switch and configure Modbus TCP communication from the devices to the PLC (data collection only) ? The switch will also be connected to the customer's DCS, receiving the data from the PLC and the three devices. 2. Can I connect the Ethernet port on the1400 PLC to the Ethernet switch directly, or do I need some kind of Ethernet interface, like the 1761-NET-ENI ? 3. The system also includes an HMI, connected to the 1400 PLC by RS-232 communication. Any issues with communicating with the HMI and doing Modbus at the same time? Your help in this matter would be highly appreciated. Thanks. Ron
