I have restored a crashed IFIX to a new PC. The restore is ok and installed GE9 driver. With the GE9 power tools, we can observed that data transmits and recieve. The problem is that the screen scada is not updating i.e. no status/feedback, anything is happening. The LAN network TCP/IP was configured i.e. IP, subnet and gateway. Any remedies/advice is most welcome. Please provide a guide on the communication/configuration setup. Thanks

Wanting to learn computer programming/data collections for industrial applications
Matt47715 posted a topic in Computer Help and Networking
Hi, I work as an industrial programmer primarily dealing with Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, and Omron PLC's as well as various peripheral devices. I would like to begin the process of learning computer programming as it pertains to the manufacturing industry. I'd like to learn how to write databases (SQL, etc) and VB apps and eventually I'd like to be able to write applications that can communicate with PLC's and other devices (although the last one would be a ways down the road). I have very little experience with computer programming so I don't really know where to start. What language should I learn first? What free software is available to learn with? What resources do you recommend I use? I've downloaded Visual Basic Express and found some introductory courses online that I've just started but if there is something else I should've started with I'm open to suggestions. Thanks -
STEP7 Professional V13; FB Declaration Static: Data type TON is not allowed here
Traloch posted a topic in Siemens
Product: STEP7 Professional V13 Reference: FB Declaration Static: Data type TON is not allowed here Description: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Hi, I'm using Step7 Prof V13 SP1 upd7 & WinCC Adv V13 SP1 upd7. In my project I'm using a 312CPU, Article No.: 6ES7 312-1AE14-0AB0, Version: V3.3 & TP1500 Comfort, Article No.:6AV2 124-0QC02-0AX0, Version:13.0.1.0 My Issue: I've taken previously used FB from my Global library and inserted it into my new Project. In this FB I've declared an IEC Timer (TON) in the static section of the FB. When I go to upload to the PLC after TIA carries out the compilation I get error message 'Data type TON is not allowed here'. I've tried creating a new FB to test and had same issue for CTU,CTD,TOF. See attached pics This is really strange as it has always functioned before! Has anyone seen or heard of this issue before? I'd appreciate any help, Cheers. -
How to Send integer files from a panelview component to a modbus TCP Enet device
Steve Ellis posted a topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Hello, I am new to the connected components workbench software. I am working with an AB panelview component Hmi and would like to create numeric buttons to load integers into user variables in a schnieder LMD servo motor. The motor uses Modbus TCP to communicate. It appears that if I click on the numeric buttons properties there is a "Write Tag" of which you can use some default tags or create a new one. I am assuming that I need to create a new one with the motor's addressing but I'm not quite sure how to accomplish this. Any help would be much appreciated!!! Thanks, Steve-

Hello, I am new to this forum and I am looking for some help. I have to create a block mover system using the controllogix , I know that I must use a SQO as I have done this process without a Flex I/O on a SLC 500 before. Currently I am getting a error while dealing with the array can anyone show me an example of a SQO in 5000? Thanks- 4 replies

Hi ! I have a question regarding the handling of the signal from the TS102 connected to my PLC. I downloaded a .pdf LINKED from "my omron", read it and put together a small program just to test the expansion unit and sensors. But I cant get any readings from the sensors and can't figure out why. I have never used a TS102 expansion unit before and would be glad if someone have an idea of what I'm doing wrong. Everything is brand new, so I'm quite sure I am the problem here..... If someone have an answer and maybe even an programming example to upload I would really appreciate it. Best Regards! I was just curious on which type of data historians are considered fast at retrieving historical data. For example, if I wanted to trend a tag at a one second interval to review an event that took place a year ago and compare that to the same tag in real-time, what historian does this the fastest?

Hi There i have heard from our local mitsubishi dealer, that there is a Fx3U-ENET module which also supports Modbus TCP. so i ordered one, because i am planning to do a Project using a atv71 FU and a Codesys PLC, so the plan is, that these 3 Devices are able to communicate together over Modbus. has anyone done something similar before? what do i need to setup in FX-Configurator EN, and how can i send modbus commands through that module. i am using GX-Works 2 and have a Structured project. any help would be appreciated. thank you jason

Can anyone advise if there are data structure #s associated with each of the data types in Logix? Example if it is a Bool, I believe Logix advises it is a 32 bit number. But is there an "under the hood" data type reference number for each Logix data type? I.E. if it is a Bool, that is a RA data type #1, if it is a DINT, it is a RA data type #2, etc.
-
Hey all, I've reviewed a number of threads regarding converting one data type to another and I have something I'm working on that I'm stumped on and haven't found an answer for yet. Without getting into the details, I need to get a DINT bit value from an entered decimal value. A user will enter in a whole number in an entry box and then it needs to get converted to the number of whatever bits that the DINT number holds. For instance: # Entered Variable Bit Value -----0------------------0 -----1------------------1 -----2------------------3 -----3------------------7 -----4-----------------15 etc... I'm looking for a fairly clean way to do this, with perhaps just two or three instruction blocks to handle it, if possible. I can provide a screenshot of the HMI and the logic (4 rungs) if necessary. Any suggestions or advice from the group would be greatly appreciated!

How To Implement Modbus TCP Protocol Using VBA with Excel
gclshortt posted a topic in Automation Direct
How To Implement Modbus TCP Protocol Using VBA with Excel We will use Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) to communicate to a PLC using Modbus TCP protocol. Reading ten registers in the PLC and displaying a bar graph in Excel. Previously we have used VB6 to communicate Modbus TCP. The following steps will be done:1.Explain Modbus TCP protocol2.Install OstroSoft Winsock Component– Winsock API Calls for communication on network3.Develop the Excel and VBA application (Microsoft Excel 2010)4.Communicate to the PLC and sample code (Do-More Simulator)Read the rest of the post... How To Implement Modbus TCP Protocol Using VBA with Excel Here is a blog post that I thought was good to share. Let me know what you think. Garry http://www.accautomation.ca- 1 reply

Hi! I'm trying to connect Omron plc CJ2M cpu11 (photo below) with Weintek touch panel. I've made proper cable, and I'm trying to establish communication between these two devices. I've wrote a script in Weintek's program, that sends and receives via serial port, rs232. Also, I've used example for serial communication in CX-Programmer, that you can see in attached files. I'm trying only to toggle one W adress using hmi. That sounds simple, but still, I'm not able to make plc and hmi to talk with each other. What I'm doing wrong?

CX-Server to pull multiple elements from Omron PLC into excel
bjcox posted a topic in Other Omron Software
I'm trying to use CX-Server to pull data from my Omron CJ2H PLC directly into Excel. I'm able to pull a single element into excel, but when I try to pull more than one element, I get a huge strand of numbers. Is there a way that I can set up a single point in DDE Manager that'll hold all the elements that I need, then in excel have a formula that will pull out specific memory elements. Specifically I'm trying to pull data from D7200-D7399, and put each element into a separate cell it in a chart that ranges from B3-K22 This is what the formula looks like when I copy a point into excel =CDMDDE|'C:\Users\... ....cdm'!'\New Point 1' I didnt know if I could put something at the end of each string to call out specific elements, but I keep getting "#BadPoint" =CDMDDE|'C:\Users\... ....cdm'!'\New Point 1'!'D7200' =CDMDDE|'C:\Users\... ....cdm'!'\New Point 1'!'D7201' ... =CDMDDE|'C:\Users\... ....cdm'!'\New Point 1'!'D7399' Any help would be great -
Hi, i am start a aplication whith modbus for a simple comunication(read/write), some analogic imputs and outputs, whith, AB Micrologix 1500 LSP (1 com port Rs232) and whith a Omron PLC CP1L-L + CIF01 (rs232). I using CP1L like a master, but i try a lot of time and no read/ Write happens, just the recognition of Node (1) and the error code 88, no mather whith Function code i use. I use Modscan32 whith Micrologix 1500 and works fine, com settings are right to, i try 38k, 19,2k, and now 9,2k None stop bit 1, setting on CP1L are in serial Gateway. If i take the cable the reponse memory go to zero, so the communication is happen, just dont in right way. Is possible to use, RS232 whith CP1L, for Modbus communication right ? I already see PCMR code for modbus, but is to complex, for my aplication. No ofense. Someone can help me?
