  1. Hey everyone, I'm new to programming PLCs and I've run into a problem. I have a Micrologix 1400 Series B PLC, and for the past month, I've been using a free trial of RSLogix 500 Starter. But now, the trial ran out, and so I bought a license for "RSLogix Micro Starter". The problem is that when I downloaded my updated file to the PLC for the first time with micro starter, the PLC's outputs don't work anymore. I checked the PLC screen and the inputs from the HMI screen are getting recognized, but the inputs from the physical sensors are not. Also, none of the outputs are being activated on the PLC at all, which I can tell by looking at the I/O status on the PLC screen itself. I then uploaded a new test program, where you press a button and a light turns on, but that doesn't work either. I haven't changed any of the physical wiring, only thing I've changed is that I'm using RSLogix Micro Starter as opposed to RSLogix 500 Starter. I spoke to a Rockwell technician about this and he said that there shouldn't be any problem, as I haven't done anything wrong. So I now ask everyone on this forum if they could help me out a bit.
  2. Hi all,I'm completely new to ASCII and trying to figure out where I'm going wrong here.Application: I need to send 2d barcode data to a KGK Jet model CCS3000L Inkjet printer. Only protocol possibility is ASCII. PLC I have is a Micro850, and the only port option for ASCII is the serial port. I modified one end of a 2707-NC11 cable to connect PLC TxD to printer RxD, PLC RxD to Printer TxD, and PLC SG to Printer SG. I jumpered CTS and RTS at the printer connector, and the 2707 cable I'm using doesn't have wires on the Micro850 CTS or RTS pins.Printer company verified that I can just jumper RTS and CTS on their side and not connect their DTR and DSR pins (since I'm not using hardware handshaking). I don't really need any flow control for the application ( I don't think...again, ASCII noob here).Do the CTS and RTS on the PLC side need to be jumpered? Does the DCD pin need to be jumpered or connected to something if I'm not using handshaking?I downloaded the Micro800 ASCII read and write functions and function blocks from Rockwell library, and they seem to be working, except that I keep getting ABL error id "7". This error states, "Cannot complete ASCII send or receive because channel configuration has been shut down using the channel configuration dialog box." I have the serial port enabled and configured to ASCII, no handshaking, baud 9600 same as printer, no parity check, 1 stop bit, character length of 8.Any help in pointing out what I'm doing wrong or things to try would be greatly appreciated!   ASCII_TEST.ccwsln
  3. Motion Control

Hi Everyone.   I have been tasked with changing out an older Flex Drive servo drive to a more modern Micro Flex drive in a machine that has an Omron CQM1H-CPU51 PLC.  I'm having a few issues but hope that i can gain some clarity around at least one of the hurdles Im facing from here. Biggest issue for me at this moment is My work hasn't yet purchased a programming lead for this PLC (or even the bits required to make one myself) but i have a feeling the control for the Servo is done via motion control in the PLC.  Question here is, if changing from one servo drive to another type, will the motion control code need to be updated to work with the new servo drive?  I have very limited experience with motion control itself at this stage so I'm a bit lost when it comes to these sort of details. Regards Kiwi_man82
  4. PLC is old one, but I need to add one feature, Signal can be very short and when I get it I want to stop auto mode. I am afraid that signal can be so short and skipped by normal input. How I can set input as an interrupt input. I read that PLC has events processing and it can be triggered by " inputs 0 - 3 of position 1 module, on rising or falling edge"  - in first slot I have card TSX DMZ 64DTK. ( 32 inputs and 32 outputs) is it true ? -  and how I associate it. Maybe I create new Events and as an input I use f.e %I1.0  or I configure it somewhere?   thanks for help
  5.  I am very green at this and learning online as I have purchased a brand new Micrologix 1400 1766L32BXBA. I am pulling my hair out as I cannot even power an LED or for that matter get any 24 volt reading from the outputs via program. I have even forced them on so shouldnt I be able to see something? I am connected via Ethernet ,Rslinx in concert with using Micro starter software (not lite) and the unit does not show any faults and is in the run mode. I can see the bits forced on the software and on the unit's LCD screen in I/O status. Is there a way to trouble shoot if the unit is bad or I am overlooking something incredibly simple. I do not have any floating inputs or outputs with the common from the power supply and the unit is properly grounded all nice and tidy on a din rail. Like I said I am very new at this so I am sorry if this is a bad question.
  6. I have 23 Micrologix 1400s and I want to take the same register, N100:99, out of each one and put in a single array in a CompactLogix L18ER. From what I have tried, it only seems like I can only map a range of integers, N100:77-N100:100, to the array and not an individual register to a particular element. (For example, mapping N100:99 from machine 16 to Selected_Model[15]) Can you map to individual elements in an array? If so, are there any instructions on how to do so? Thank you in advance for reading my post!
  7. Good day everyone, First post here so hopefully I'm not violating community guidelines in anyway. I've got a system that has some 50 odd Micrologix 1100 and 1400 in use and I'm currently working on setting up an auto timesync for all of them using just 1 of the PLCs that will be my master time PLC. So far I've put together the logic for all the message instructions with the corresponding IP of the slave devices. I'm running. Into an issue with not being able to terminate/break the message connection on a PLC that I have already synced. Is this even possible to do on the ML1100. Once I get to 16-17 messages DN it starts to ER and will not complete any further messages. What I have is a message instruction ladder with a timed trigger to activate a MSG and write the RTC data then time down and connect and write to the next and so on. When it triggers the message instruction of one PLC it also fires an OTE to trigger the BK of the previous message instruction. However it doesn't seem to be actually cutting the message connection and holds it persistent until a power cycle/download event.
  8. Hi! I'm using RSLinx Classic, RSLogix Micro English and RSLogix Emulate 500 to emulate a Micrologix 1100 Series B. I'm able to run, program and simulate different input and output with the emulated PLC. Everything works fine. My problem is that I'm writing a program using the nodePCCC library (https://github.com/plcpeople/nodepccc) and I'm not able to connect to the emulated PLC using the address 127.0.0.1 and the port 44818. I tried  running 'netstat -a' on Power Shell and I found out that the port 44818 is not being used.  Could someone help me identify what I'm doing wrong?
  9. I am trying to communicate power flex 523 drives to micrologix 1400 directly through DSI using 1763-nc01 cable. I have considered channel 0 in plc as modbus RTU master and trying to connect but not connecting. So am i doing it correctly. Any suggestions?
  10. Hello all, I am working on a project where I am communicating with a Mensor CPT6100 pressure transducer using a Micro-850 PLC. For this, I have used an AWA instruction to write some ASCII characters to the sensor. The sensor then responds to the write instruction by sending ASCII characters to the RX buffer and I used ACB and ARD instructions to read the ASCII characters. Now, I have set the ACB trigger type to 0 (msg triggered only once) and it successfully reads from the sensor. However, when I set the ACB trigger type to 1 (msg triggered multiple times), I do not get any reading in the ARD block. As a matter of fact, the ACB Q bit switches off every time the program is executed when the trigger type is set to 1. I am trying to get continuous readings from the sensor, but when the trigger type is set to 0, the program latches on to the first and only reading and it won't change. My question is, how can I change my program so that it can continuously and autonomously read from the sensor without me having to manually trigger the AWA and ACB instructions every time. I am attaching the program to this thread for your reference.  ASCII_Test_Copy.ccwarc
  11. Hi: I am trying to determine if I should use the RS 5000 or RS 500 to start a micrologix 1400 project that will include a Maple Systems HMI. I have never used the RS 5000 software so I am aware there will be a learning curve, however I am certain that it could be useful in the future.  However, my work schedule is nights so I am limited in how much tech support I will get here at my facility when no one is using RS 5000 here at this time? Your input and feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  12. I'm trying to connect a SMC EX-260 to a Allen Bradley Micrologix 1400 PLC so  I can run some valves with it. However, RsLogix 500 doesn't allow me to just setup a generic ethernet device like I would on RsLogix 5000. Is there a way I can communicate these devices together so I can use the SMC Valve system with my Micrologix?
  13. Hello all, this is my first post. I am using an AB Micrologix 1400 (1766-L32BXB Ser C FW 21). I was trying to generate a pulse train using the PTO instruction. I have modified PTOX funct. file. The ladder is just a simple XIO followed by PTO, (The Quick Start ladder from 1766-RM001). When I looked at the output waveform on my oscilloscope, I noticed that it wasn't a square wave. I decided to run it at several different frequencies to see how the wave form would change. At 10Hz i got a square wave. As I increased the frequency the falling edge became sloped and almost horizontal. Is this how the output should behave? The data sheet indicates a max frequency of 100kHz, but at frequencies over 150 Hz. The wave form looks like the output of SMPS.
  14. Hi, got a mental block lol.  Got a machine we are modifying, currently got most of the code in place. Working on a fault routine now. This machine doesn't have an HMI or wide array of PL. Nothing major just a simple vision system check. Currently have 6 faults that will stop the cycle running. I'm wanting to have the beacon light (Red light) blink for the cause of the fault. For example: Scenario 1- Fault stop for bottle check NG:  (two) .5 sec blinks -  2 sec red light off -  (two) .5 sec blinks ..... repeat  Scenario 2- Fault stop for bottle check NG and reject sensor blocked:  (two) .5 sec blinks -2 sec red light off - (three) .5 sec blinks - 2 sec red light off....... repeat I have the code a few different ways but it looks "dirty". Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

  16. Hello - we run a car wash that is controlled by a Modicon TSX Micro 3721001. It is indicating a CPU fault. I've attached a picture of the unit in place, with the LEDs lit. I have ordered a new base unit (2nd picture). I haven't tried it out yet, but it is tested working. I am hoping a base unit replacement will solve the problem, but wondering if it it possible the problem could be in the modules? I did not order those but now wondering if I should have... If the issue could be with the modules, is there a way to test which one it would be so I won't need to order all 4? If it coult be a module, I might order that now as I am in a rush to get back in service. Thanks for any guidance! Andy
  17. We have a carwash automatic controller board with an Eagle Signal Micro 190 PLC.  The program has been reloaded after power outages from a MX207l1 EEPROM Memory Transport Module for over 20 years.  Suddenly the reload isn't working -- either the MTM lost it's program or the socket has worn out over the years.  Anyway, the program can also be loaded via a 9-pin serial cable from a PC.  In trying that, we've found that the program the vendor gave us on the PC doesn't match that on the MTM.  Testing shows that only one output is incorrect.  We simply need to change output on O22 (broken trace on the board 20 years ago) to O20 (which would then match the MTM code).  I am a software engineer, but have never used ladder logic in a PLC.  I *think* I have changed the output, but maybe I just changed a comment.  [Testing requires powering off the carwash, with loss of $$ if we can't get it back up, and $80K expense for total failure, so trial-n-error isn't feasible.]  (1) Can anyone discuss what I did with me so I have a better idea if it will work or not?  (2) Is there anyone in the Atlanta area willing to look at this?  Thanks for reading!
  18. My project is to read an RFID tag (ascii) with a Micrologix 1400, send the string to a PC using Ethernet/IP, lookup and compare in an Excel spreadsheet, and send back data (probably an integer) for the plc to use to control direction. I have to scan and compare an RFID tag to a list of 1400 possible part numbers, at different locations (more than 1 plc). I want the several PLCs to go to a single PC to make it easy to update when changes occur (on a weekly basis). Has anyone done anything like this? I'm assuming there will have to be some kind of vb or c+ application involved.   Thanks,  CK
  19. Hello,  please i wish to simulate HSC in Allen Bradley 1400 using a square wave generator. i have built and tested the square wave generator it works well, the issue is how to wire it to Allen Bradley 1400. also i wish to understand IO Configuration filter settings, am using Allen Bradley 1400 B series Processor  Thanks  Square wave generator simulating with AB 1400 for HSC.pdf
  20. Hello, I'm new to PLC Programming, with just a simple course about the basics. I've got a micrologix 1400 PLC which seems to have had its program wiped when the battery was replaced. I've had the company that supplied the machine it runs send me the program for the PLC. However, I don't have any software to communicate with it, and download the program to the PLC. I was hoping some one here could help me out and direct me towards what I will need to do to get the new program installed on the PLC. Thank you
  21. Hi my problem may have a simple solution but i cant work it out. I need to use the Divide function but it wont let me use a decimal point in either Source A or Source B. Is there a way to use a decimal point in Logix 500 Math instructions? Im using an AB Micrologix 1400 PLC. Can you only use math instructions with whole numbers? is there a way around this? Thanks James

  23. I am trying to read data from a Micro 850 into my L18 (V 30.11). I have never set up an ethernet bridge between these 2 components and i have been up against a wall since starting. I have the MSG blocks in my routine but i am obviously configuring either the bridge, MSG instruction or something wrong. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!!!
  24. Hello,  I have a micrologix 1400 plc connected to a length measurement gauge. The gauge sends an analog value to the plc to an analog input. I convert the value into a dimension and send it to F8:0. but I need this value in three different steps in the program. Since i just have one element of float (F8:0) is there anyway i can store the value in a different location or create more floating point tags eg. F8:1. F8:2 ?    Thank You
  25. Dear Sir, Kindly Tell me how to use encoder with micrologix 1400. Thanks
