  1. Hello all, I have 7 Q series PLCs on a Melsec net/h network, Ladder Programming none of that fancy smancy ST stuff LOL. Were running the QJ71LP21-25. Now to keep it short I have used all most all my devices in my Network Range Assignment. I can not set up low speed range as I do not have enough Link relays and registers at all stations. No memory for more devices just trust that I can not do it... However I have an abundance of File Registers ( no I cant buy B or W in the PLC File params, well I can but it wont help because only one CPU is UDE the rest are H.) I have a project in which I must see about 50 words for each Station at every Station. I figured while I am setting up a Transient Transfer I will make a bunch of extra room for future updates and junk. My answer good or bad, is to set up some Send/Recv commands and do some Transient Transfer. I think I have it just about all figured out just a few questions. I have two manuals I have been getting my info from Q MELSECNET/H Network System Reference Manual ( I think SHNA080049)  and the Melsecnet/h training manual.  1.Any one have any better manuals that better cover transient transfer? Or that are new enough to mention GX Works2 instead of Developer? 2. Is there a max device for each send/recv? (I keep thinking it is 980 per station but no idea where I got this number)( I will increase the max # of transients in the supplementary settings under network range...) 3. Any precautions or advice like, Hey don't do this, I did this once and.... 4. It looks like as long as I use different logical channels for each station I should be able to send and receive multiple "messages" at once with no error?? (I will test this and look for the "no room in receive buffer area f222 error)  5. Will this slow down the Cyclic transfers (I will be watching the SW006D and so on to make sure it does not slow my regular transmission down.) 6. I will be using several special relays and registers in the program of course. Any I should use that are not obvious?
  2. latch clear operation

what is latch clear operation and how is it triggered? Q03UDCPU connected to AB contrologix via ethernet sends data to L or latch relays and i read that it is only reset via latch clear operation. will for example L02 turn off if the bit is not triggered in the contrologix side?
  3. overwrite linked word

is it possible to overwrite the linked word coming from the other station as stated in this refresh parameter?  http://prnt.sc/etejvj I will do OUT W703.11 which is written in the station 3 but I dont have access to it so I am asking if this is possible.

  8. communication with PC

I have a project where I have to read I/O, and potentially initiate programs on the Mitsubishi PLC. Seems I can use the Melsec Protocol but I have some difficulty getting started. I can communicate via Ethernet using GXWorks 2 so hardware-wise there shouldn't be anything wrong. I'm using QJ71E71, Q06HCPU, QX42, etc. Initially I open a UDP socket to the correct IP address and port (copy the port from GXWorks) and attempt to issue a request 3E/Binary, specifying the network, PC, Module IO, and station and it always times out. Is there any source code that just does a basic read of a memory location? I'm using C++ but I should be able to understand any code sample in VB, C, C#, or others. Also, is there any issue with multiple connections to the PLCs. Right now I quit GXWorks before I test but is this necessary. Thanks, Jeff

  10. Wireshark dissector for Melsec TCP

Hello: Is there any off-the-shelf Wireshark dissector for Melsec TCP which can decode the TCP portion of Melsec TCP traces? Thanks.
  11. Hi guys, I have a problem with GX IEC Developer 7.04, i hope some of you can help me. When i try to connect with the PLC type - Melsec FX1s- 30MR-DC, there is an error: I check all COM port settings, and everything is ok. Com_port parameters: FX Parameters: Transfer setup: PLC Type in the program is the same like physical one (FX1s). I try to change all of this stuffs but there is no result. The cable I use for comunnication is this type: Thank you very much in advance. Have a nice day! eng R. Bukov
  12. Good day I have a scenario where I need to connect to Ethernet ST-lite units to an L-series PLC. With a Q-series you will use the Modbus card and create a Intellgent Function Module to do this and specify the header addressing for the unit. With the L-series, you have Modbus on the build-in Ethernet port, but how do I now setup and specify the addressing for the for the ST-lite unit? Please help...
  13. Hi I need a little help please with networking through ST Lite. The scenario. I have a Q03UDECPU (Ethernet CPU) PLC which need to connect to STL-ETH1 (ST-Lite unit) unit and then also to the LAN for the MAPS SCADA to be able to read it. Now the STL-ETH unit has 2 network ports that I can use. However, I need to know if a daisy chain type of configuration will work. Basically LAN --> Port 1 on ST-lite and from Port 2 -- PLC and then back the same route. Is this possible? Reason for this is because I only have 1 network connection available from the LAN.
  14. project

hi just browsing for some ideas, I'm not proficient at programming but thought I could learn and have fun at the same time but now im stumped (and just moved house so a little preoccupied) anyway... I made a test rig, 14 leds driven direct from the y outputs with two sensors x1 and x2 the idea being to eventually put them in the stair case so when the beam at the bottom is triggered they will lead up the stairs in sequence and visa versa down wards, now I managed to trip x1 then sequence the leds and reset itself, all using timers, but when it came to going the opposite way easy I thought just reverse the program, but when I did this I got the dreaded double coil and I spent a couple of days on this to no avail, so here I am. open to any suggestions better ways not using timers anything to get me started eventually I thought I could have a selector switch for different patterns, but im getting a head of myself!
