  1. Hi All, We have a hydraulic press that is being controlled by Siemens S5-95U PLC . Lately the S5-95U has been randomly stopping during operation thus causing the hydraulic press to stop running. However the S5-95U instantly returns to RUN status after stopping. This is the first time it has happened after a decade of service. Prior to the random stops issue, around January 2021 the S5-95U completely stopped and the program in the RAM was erased so we had to replace the PLC battery and restore the program with our backup. Strangely, the PLC battery we replaced still had 3.4VDC upon checking. What's even more baffling is that even after we replaced the PLC battery with a new one,  Battery LED is still yellow although the program is still retained in the RAM. In summary, we have two concerns: 1. S5-95U randomly stops and resumes during operation ever since we were forced to replace the PLC battery and restore the program. 2. PLC battery has been replaced but the Battery LED is still yellow but the program is still retained in the RAM.   I have a suspicion that the two concerns I mentioned above are somehow connected but I lack the technical expertise to diagnose. I'm hoping someone can help me figure out our issue. Worst case, I think our S5-95U needs to be replaced.   Thanks,

  4. CJ1M con CJ1W-EIP21 a ControlLogix

Hello I am trying to communicate a CJ1M with a CJ1W-EIP21 Card, with a Logix Control, but I have not been successful, what I am looking for is to read data, from the OMRON and see it in the Logix Control, but I have not been able to establish communication, I am looking for someone You will already have a functional example, with the backups of both PLC'S, to be able to observe how they made the configuration. Thank you for your support Greetings
  5. Hi guys, Has anyone ever implemented a Siemens S7 RFID tag reader into a Mitsubishi PLC system? Is this something that is fairly supported to be able to achieve? Or a right pain to set up?
  6. Hi, I am new using SIEMENS. I am programming a KTP 400 Comfort. linked to a S7-1200. I would like to ask you how to do a solution I normally used in OMRON. There, I use an "indirect label" to index the line of a TXT file I want to show in a label of a button or indicator. This is similar to the "list of text" in TIA Portal. However, in OMRON I found the way to updated automatically the TXT file in the HMI using a computer but not using the software of OMRON. So, I would like to know how to do something similar using this SIEMENS HMI. I would like to show a label whose text changes according to the value of an index. However I would like to be able to change the file where the index points (TXT, CSV, etc) but not using TIA Portal. I would program a software to send the updated file automatically under FTP, or under the protocol you suggest me. Thank you very much.
  7. Siemens WinCC 7.0 SP3 SCADA Value Freezing

Dear All, We are using Siemens WinCC 7.0 SP3 SCADA software. We are using two Redundant SCADA Computers that are communicating with PLC (CP-343 module) via Ethernet. One Ethernet cable from each PC is connected to Cisco Ethernet Switch and one Ethernet cable from the Cisco Switch is connected with CP-343 Siemens Ethernet Module.  The problem is after every 75 hours one PC value become still (Freeze).Only One system values freeze at a time. If i restart the system the problem is resolved. Please help to resolve this problem. Thanks
  8. Hi experts :D Can anyone help/try to help  with the following conundrums: a) when changing the Ethernet Operation settings from Binary code to ASCII code, the setting are 'saved' in PLC settings, meaning that ASCII code is read as selected after a restart, but the PLC accepts commands and responds in Binary code. b) when adding a new TCP port, the new port is 'saved' in PLC settings, meaning that read as selected after a restart, but the PLC refuses commands on that port (the "Open" LED on the Q71E71-100 card turns on for the duration of the transmission but no reply is received from the PLC) notes: setting software: GX Works 2 target test software: Custom made Driver for MC protocol. (tested and working with FX and Q series  and with ASCII and Binary code) PLC model Q02 (reset performed by removing the battery for more that 2 hours) ports used for test are: 5500 and 4999 (decimal) found 5002 port opened by default (no open setting required) PLC network module Q71E71-100 (new)   I would upload screenshots of the settings but I get this error: "There was a problem processing the uploaded file. Please contact us for assistance."
  9. Dear Mr. PLC forum members, I am brand new to the world of PLC’s and I am looking for advice on PLC platform selection for a device prototype. The proposed PLC is for a “smart” hydroponic system. Please see system I/O and other parameters below. Parameter 1: Price - I am self-funding this so price of PLC and software is important. Happy to spend ~$2000 for PLC; I/O cards and related hardware. Total prototype cost is around $15,000 including PLC. Parameter 2: Availability & Support in Australia. Parameter 3:Newbie Friendly: I intend to code the PLC myself and have never coded a thing in my life before.  Parameter 4:Discrete Outputs: 11; Discrete Inputs: 0; Analog Outputs: 2-3; Analog Inputs: 9  Parameter 5: Capability to extend to IOT for remote access control and monitoring (via cellular or wifi router)   As you can see, this is a relatively simple automation project. All my research seems to point to Automation Direct’s BRX PLC but I just wanted to get some suggestions and feedback before purchasing. Anything else that might suit my needs? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Bruce
  10. I have Chinese machine which has 226CN cpu I'm trying to communicate with it to upload the current program and maybe modify it. But I can't communicate with it  I'm using Chinese cable rs 232 to usb and windows xp. When I use it I get "you must use rs232/usb PPI multi master" massage  Is there a problem with the cable or the software? I tried to change language of the software to Chinese ( as a solution I found on the internet)but it doesn't help What should I do?
  11. I have a Siemens HMI 6AV2 124-0MC01-0AX0 in my machine. I want to clone the display on the HMI to PC/Laptop. My question is: 1. What software that I need for this task? 2. What kind of interface that I need between the HMI and PC/Laptop (for example ethernet cable, etc)? 3. Do I need to communicate with PLC connected with HMI or can I just connect with the HMI? Thanks in advance for the answer.
  12. S7 200 SEG INSTRUCTION

Hello guys. We are trying to replace a S7 200 PLC at our station with S7 1200.  We are reading the program on the S7 200 and recreating the same on the S7 1200. However, we have encountered the SEG  instruction used several times in the S7 200 (microwin) program. And the SEG instruction is not available in TIA Portal (we are using TIA 11) for the S7 1200. We have tried to read the s7 200 system manual but the explanation of the instruction is not sufficient to help recreate it. Could anyone know how we can create our own equivalent of the SEG instruction? If anyone has the SEG instruction already created as a program, it would be very helpful. Thank you.
  13. Hi all  I need help with communication between Mitsubishi L06CPU-P with Siemens S7-1500 by Modbus TCP. It's necessary to send data from L06CPU to S7-1500, but I don't know anything about mitsubishi and gx works2.  Picked up some pics how I did it, but I didn't verified how it works. Can anybody help me with this? https://ibb.co/8KDmg5x https://ibb.co/Jm8shCx   edited: I also found LQnUDEModbusTCP_GW2_with_FC_V120 library, but how it works I dont know
  14. I'm trying to send an int over TCP using a MSG Socket,  Compactlogix ==> Arduino Ethernet Shield I have set up TCP communication between two Arduino Uno's using Ethernet shield. I've set up the one as a server, the other as a client. server IP: 192.168.1.21 port 23. If the client is connected it reads incoming data as a byte or an array of bytes. The data between the two has been verified to work. I'm now trying to transition the communications between a compact logix-L32E. I'm looking to send a byte (or int being as there's no byte data type) from the Compactlogix to the Arduino using TCP. To my understanding I need to use a socket create, open, read/write, close. The manual to do this is vague as a step by step procedure. Does anyone have an example code for socket programming? I can open rs500, rs5000, and studio 5000 programs. If I can open a file to use as a reference I can translate it on my own. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
  15. I am pretty new to the SCADA world. I wanted to know what are the advantages of using a paid proprietary SCADA software such as WinCC, Wonderware, cimplicity over free software such as OpenSCADA, OpenAPI, IndigoSCADA and so on. I have read, there are more layers of security in the paid one. What does that mean? What are the other main differences between the paid and free ones out there in the market?
  16. CJ1W-EIP21 To CJ2M-CPU33 Setup

Hi All,     I am working on a system that uses multiple Ethernet IP devices to control Pneumatic valves and D I/O. We have integrated several (smaller systems) with success. However, these systems are using a large amount of network words. One system uses 210 Byte Produce and 210 Bytes Consume. My Current count of these systems on one machine is Six masters. I need a total of 2,520 Bytes plus some for other devices in my network configurator.  My controls vendor told me I could expand the network by adding a CJ1W-EIP21 Card to help run these masters. After about 24 Hours of reading the Manual w465 I still dont quite understand how I am supposed to run these valves with this card or with Tag Data Links. Currently I have a network config. with all my masters networked to a CJ1w-EIP21 Card and TagData Links that were setup through the Tag Data Link Wizard via Network Config. I need help setting up variables in the CJ2M_CPU33 using tag link data that will allow me to output data to these masters. All assistance and Information is much appreciated.    Nate
  17. I have a purchased Machine that came with a Siemens LOGO 8.FSR PLC (Smart Relay). Generally we use Allen Bradley or Mitsubishi. Anyway, we need to communicate data between the LOGO and an Allen Bradley Compact Logix.  I do not desire to add an additional network to the AB but as best i can tell the LOGO is exclusively Modbus TCP/IP. Has anyone come across a similar situation?  I look online and did find an  Anybus module that claims to be able to link them together.  Looking for anyone who has faced this challenge and succeeded, or failed.   Thanks
  18. Good day all, I'm going to get a new Siemens PLC (model haven't decide) for a project using OPCUA server. I'm curious to know whether I made the right choice or not? Cause I planning to use that PLC to process some data that it got from OPCUA server. Can I know whether I can directly use Ethernet connection to take the data from server directly and fed it into my Siemens PLC? (I probably won't use the DI of the PLC for input data)
  19. Hi, Is it possible to have two hardware configurations which can be switched through HMI. currently i have two hardware configurations and the project remains same. So without connecting with Simatic Manager i want to switch the hardware configuration.

  25. Siemens Field PG M3 - PLC Programming Rugged Laptop for Sale   Condition is Used   This is a Siemens Field PG for PLC Programming.   Purchased several years ago as part of an auction lot and has sat in my workshop since, I don't do much Siemens so this is up for sale - This is what I know about it :-   The machine has Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit installed (Machine has Windows 7 Ultimate on the base but been upgraded at some point) 8GB ram installed It has a windows XP VM installed which runs the Siemens Programming software (Virtual Box) There is a folder on the desktop containing the original installation files, so would be easy to return back to the host machine if required. All software appears to be licensed (see pics)    Has Step 7 and Step 5 installed   Negatives - Missing the back flap & Battery not being recognised thus not taking on charge (I think this is a just BIOS update needed but not looked into it too much)   In very good overall condition, a few light marks but that's about it, still looks very good.   Comes with the original branded rucksack    This was a really expensive bit of kit in its day and still stands up as an excellent PLC programming machine   Open to sensible offers - I am located in the UK so worldwide postage will have to be calculated seperately   I have powered it up and it works well with no issues found, the PLC software all seems to work and appears fully licensed but as I am not the original owner and don't know the provenance of the machine or licenses this machine is sold with no returns or warranty provided.
