  1. hey!  I'm pretty new to PLC's, and I'm supposed to ''teach'' the people at my internship how this PLC works, but I have encountered a problem.  I've gotten pretty far with all the digital programming and understanding how everything works, but I just can't figure out how the analog inputs/outputs and programming works...... I've had a fair explaination on PID and how this works. I've searched the web as well to figure out what PLC instructions to use.    I hope you can answer my following questions.    1, what are the most used PLC instruction blocks which I can use for temperature control, and how am I supposed to use them? 2, Could you please give me an example on how to use PID and what numbers will I need for the calculations? 3, what are the most used PLC Instruction blocks (apart form the analog ones) that I should include in my tutorial?   this is my setup: Ethernet switch MOXA EDS-205 Plc voeding PA202 PLC CPU CJ1MCPU11-ETN Digital IN (16x) CJ1W-ID211 (SL) Digital IN (16x) CJ1W-ID211 (SL) Analog IN (8x) CJ1W-AD081 (SL) Analog IN (8x) CJ1W-AD081 (SL) TRANS OUT (16x) CJ1W-OD212 (SL) TRANS OUT (16x) CJ1W-OD212 (SL) Analog OUT (4x) CJ1W-DA041 (SL)   thank you soo much for looking at my question and considering helping me! the OMRON helpdesk hasn't been very helpfull.    kind regards,    Deuslupos,
  2. NQ Design and CX-Programmer

Hello! My name is Gabriela. First, I do not speak very good English. I have to do a project! I have a HMI (NQ3- TQ000B) to OMRON for a teaching platform. I installed NQ Designer for it. I did the program in CX-Programmer . But I have a misunderstanding. How can I connect the CX with NQ . How can I assign internal bits set from CX-Programmer in buttons from NQ-Designer? In the end, I would like that after I connected bits with buttons and I transferred the program to HMI, when I push the button on the HMI interface, the platform to do what I programmed in cx.

How do I install fonts And what problems Upload project I need your professional advice. Thank you
  7. Can anyone advise if there are data structure #s associated with each of the data types in Logix?  Example if it is a Bool, I believe Logix advises it is a 32 bit number.  But is there an "under the hood" data type reference number for each Logix data type?  I.E.  if it is a Bool, that is a RA data type #1, if it is a DINT, it is a RA data type #2, etc.
  8. Dear friends. I faced one problem of recipe working. Could somebody help me? I try to create recipe and use it in my program. Fisrt of all I decided to learn how it working and for this I used documentation NB-Designer Operation Manual. I created my test program, but it doesn't work as I need. Bellow I want to describe, what I need: I want to have 5 program with 4 parameters and download these program with parameters inside to the PLC. In attachment you can see my program. test.zip
  9. Hello! I'm working on a project. I cannot get online with the PLC. The compagnie who made the program does not exist anymore so they cannot help me. Does anyone knows how to unlock a locked controller ? Do you know a compagnie who can solve this kind of problem ? Otherwise my only option is to wipe the all thing and reprogram it .... which would be bad. Thanks !
  10. Hello, my question today deals with a particular way of coding in RS Logix 5000. I have two routines ( titled "Gauge" and "Alarm"). where rung 10 in Gauge is the exact same as rung 2 in Alarm. How can I make a change to rung 10 in Gauge and allow the program to automatically make that same change in rung 2 of Alarm? The only reason these two routines have the same rung at 10 and 2 respectively is to make trouble shooting easier whenever an issue arises. So instead of searching through the "Gauge' routine to find out where the fault is, I can easily look at the "Alarm" routine and find out what the problem is. I just want to be able to make changes to the Gauge routine and find someway to allow the program to automatically update the exact same rung in the Alarm Routine. Thanks.
  11. I have an interesting problem. On my NQ HMI, I am changing one bit of the alarm word to true. The first time I do this, one alarm becomes active, and appears in my alarm list on my HMI. Then when I change the bit back to zero, the alarm becomes inactive. Then when I make the bit true again, the alarm does NOT become active again. Nor does a new alarm appear at the top of the list. What do I need to do to make a fresh alarm appear in the list? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  12. Where can I safely download NQ designer? Thanks in advance.
  13. Automation professionals, I would like to read the display values of a red lion DP700 in a control logix PLC. I was able to successfully integrate both devices through EtherNet / IP and I am geting the corresponding values in a DINT register in the PLC. But the problem is that the value in the PLC register is not in the same format as in the DP700 display. The display reads the length of a product in inches like 288.484 etc. Where as the value in the register is a 10 digit number like 1133526516. For sure, there is a definite correlation between these two values but I am not able to figure out the exact relationship as a function of a formula. I have given below 25 data pairs for your analysis. I tried to find out the scaling factor (slope and offset). The scaling that I found fit the first 10 records but did not fit the remaining 15 records Can you help me to find out the relationship between the ? # DP700 PLC register 1 288484 1133526516 2 288627 1133531202 3 288631 1133531333 4 288739 1133534872 5 288741 1133534937 6 288742 1133534970 7 288746 1133535101 8 288757 1133535461 9 288776 1133536084 10 288796 1133536739 11 241060 1131482972 12 241043 1131481858 13 241027 1131480809 14 241032 1131481137 15 241055 1131482644 16 241038 1131481530 17 241078 1131484152 18 241025 1131480678 19 241030 1131481006 20 241037 1131481465 21 241040 1131481661 22 241023 1131480547 23 241053 1131482513 24 241041 1131481727 25 241077 1131484086
  14. Hi Guys I'm new to Omron PLC's and the NB HMI series terminals. I have a question regarding the status of a currently logged in user. What memory area bit can I check to see if a user is actually logged in ? Secondly, where can I find a document that shows the memory areas and any system words/bits ? I found bits and pieces here and there but nothing that shows the memory area layout in full. Regards Steve
  15. Currently we have a remote I/O module to connect with our PLC, yet it's not showing up whenever we try to connect it via inside RS logix 5000.
  16. Hi everyone, Im quite new into OPCs, I'm using adam 4015 6channel RTD module to measure temperatures and then connected to adam 4520, I would like to know how to connect the adam modules to cx designer (or if have to make any program in cx programmer) as i want to have a GUI of the temperature measurement. Thanks in advance
  17. I know that I can printScreen screens one by one from the offline test in NB Designer. I was wondering if there was a way to automatically save-as-JPGs all screens in a project? (Just like you can do in CX Designer.)
  18. I'm new to Omron, and after several days of diving into manuals trying to figure this out on my own and giving myself a headache I've come to accept that i need help. my task is the following: Control of the discrete and analog inputs/outputs in a DeviceNet system using an Omron CJ1M PLC’s and PT’s. Use at least one thermocouple, one analog input, and one analog output for the DeviceNet network. Use a pushbutton and a light for the start of the process and an indicator for the started process. I have a Drt1-Ad04 input, a Drt1-ad02 output, and a Drt1-ts04t temperature control. My devicenet is Cj1w-drm21, The Omron system itself is a cj1m-cpu13 etn21. I have node addresses for my input, outputs and temperature control, those being 35 for input, 25 or 30 for output and for temperature control 5, 15, or 20. The ip address im using for this project is 142.214.143.9I'm using Cx programmer, Designer and Integrator. On Cx programmer I've managed to create an IO table but i have no idea on how to begin the program or even get a current reading from my generator. On Designer I've made what i believe to be the layout of the pushbuttons, I just have no idea of what addresses to enter. And on integrator i'm having troubles on figuring out how to make a routing table. I've went through many manuals and either i'm missing something really basic here or I just have no idea on what I'm doing. The only advice I was given was to dive into more manuals and find my addresses for my inputs, outputs, and temperature or to find the information from an outside source be that a forum or customer service. I am able to provide more information, and screenshots of what I have done if needed. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated!
  19. Hello All, I want to read data from a Control Logix PLC, into a PLC5/60, using Ethernet and a MSG instruction in the PLC5. When verifying the MSG instruction in the PLC5, I get an error message. "Target Address in invalid". Once I figure out how to do this I need to replicate it in another PLC5. Scope is to read the status of 4 paint pumps controlled by the CLX. If any of the 4 stop, the PLC5 needs to know, because it is controlling the paint application equipment. Source data resides in a Control Logix 1756-L63. The tag is INT type, 4 elements long, and the name is PUMP_STS_B2. The IP address of the CLX is 4.2.6.230. There are 2 ENBT cards, one in slot 1, and the other in slot 3. 4.2.6.230 is slot 3. PLC2,5 / SLC Mapping has been created in the CLX. File=421 Name PUMP_STS_B1 and File=422 Name Pump_STS_B2. The file mappings represent a binary file created in each of the PLC5's B421:0~4 in Booth 1, and B422:0~4 in Booth 2. The PLC5/60 is Enhanced series E model using the Ethernet side card. The IP address of the PLC5 is 3.26.5.61. I also created MG file types in each of the PLC5/60. MG420:0~19 in each processor. This was necessary to use the MSG instruction in the PLC5. I have searched the forums for examples of how to do this with no solid results. I am trying to follow the best practices of reading the data into my PLC so anyone who follows can tell where it is coming from. While the IP addresses are not closely related they should be able to communicate. I say this because all of our PC's are on the 4.2.6.XXX network on a 255.255.252.0 sub net and we have no issue communicating with the 3.26.5.61 IP address. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Mike Carter
  20. I'm having a bit of difficulty with the MSG function on a logix5000. I'm simply trying to get a REAL value ("BH5_Flow") out of another logix5000 and assign it to a tag in the PLC. I've created a MSG function and created a new tag "BH_5_Flow_MSG" for the message, and created "BH5_Flow_M" for the value that will come from the MSG function. When I click the "..." button to bring up the config, I put the following in: Message Type: CIP Data Table ReadSource Element: BH5_FLOWNumber Of Elements: 1Destination Element: BH5_FLOW_MIn the PATH tab, i then put the following in: Path: LocalENB, 2, [iP ADDRESS OF SOURCE MACHINE]When I test the edits, I then get the ERR bit activate with error 16#0004 when the message rung runs. Anyone got any ideas where Im going wrong? I've practically copied another MSG instruction from further up the ladder but it doesn't seem to work
  21. Hi, Is there any good documents out there on how to download to a NS15 Omron HMI from CX-Designer via Ethernet? Thanks, Andrew
  22. Hi, we have a system that has multiple cabinets using guardlogix point I/O. For some reason that I cannot explain as of yet we sometimes loose ownership on one of the cards and have to reset it. Has anyone experienced this before and if so what was the cause and solution?
  23. I need to change the IP address of an existing PLC. Only access I have is remote (VPN). Is there any issue with downloading the same program - with the IP address changed - to the existing processor? Then change the local network range to match, etc...
