  1. The only thing I can find in help re using the buzzer is to use a multi function button. I want to use the buzzer as an alarm buzzer and turn on $SB13 or $SB14 from a bit in the PLC. Can anyone help please?
  2. I'm working to fix/improve the functioning of a program running on an a PLC5/40E.  I think high Scan Times are a big problem with this current program.  ((Backstory:  someone added some quasi motion control, and it sort of worked for a while.  Now that it's broken, the operators of this machine want it back. ))  I'll keep my question simple, PLC5's are new to me: There are 36 rungs with CPT instructions as the sole output, a third of these instruction are executed every scan.  I'm going to replace them with MOV instructions. My question is, is there any sneaky PLC5 reason to do a CPT instead of a MOV?  Is there a better way to do this? The CPT instructions that execute move integer values to a data file used by the HMI to control the coloration of touchscreen buttons.   Thank you for your time. PS: I'm new-ish to this forum, please feel free to let me know if my question was asked correctly or not.
  3. Hello everyone, As the title suggests I am trying to display on a GOT1000 the real time frequency that the inverter is running at. I have attached my CC-Link settings and the associated programming as well. I tried using the example program from Mitsubishi but I got lost. From my understanding I should be seeing the output frequency in W3C4 however, I am not receiving any data. Any help would be appreciated.
  4. HMI on CC LINK IE FIELD

Hello all, kinda lazy question, but I'll rather ask, before I'll went to deep into HMI scripting. Because of a design of CC link, there are RWr and RWw Is there any simpler solution for displaying value stored in PLC, while also letting HMI operator change the value and save it to PLC, than scriting in HMI? hope it makes sense to you thank you in advance
  5. The CC-Link system on a machine has been intermittently dropping out.  Normally the Link Scan Time runs at a solid 87ms.  When the system "drops out", the link scan time will increase.  Sometimes double, triple, or go up 10x. It happens when the machine is running or when it sits idle. There are 33 stations on the network.  The same stations do not always fault but sometimes all of the stations will fault at once (as seen in the attachment pictures.) We have changed the main QJ61BT11N, the processor, the Q62N power supply, the main backplane (base unit), all cards on the main backplane.  Is it possible for one station or one of the cables to create a network wide problem?  Any ideas thrown at us would be appreciated.

  8. CC-Link Protocol with a CJ2

I have an IAI servo that was sent to us with CC-link protocol. I have never in my life used cc-link and can find very little on the topic on integrating with an Omron CJ CPU. I am curious as to whether this has been done, or is even possible given the protocols Omron works with. And if so, what did you have to do to get the PLC to communicate via CC-link. Thanks in advance for the responses!
  9. So I have done quite a bit of googling and i even reached out to our integrator but i am having a nuisance fault of "Watchdog Fault" Caused by periodic task overlap. The task is scheduled to start again before it is finished. I added all of the Programs in this task MAX scan time and it only came out to 102 ms. the task is scheduled for every 100 ms. The watchdog is set at 500 ms. The task is currently running at 146-148 ms and i confirmed this using a TON instruction at the end of the task followed by a reset. What can i do to get this down?? What would be the best practice? Move programs into another task? Make the task continuous? What would happen if i did make it continuous? I tried setting the task to 150 ms and the controller DID NOT like that. I was barely able to get back on line with it to change it back to 100 ms. CPU usage is at 91% and this task accounts for around 50% of that. Thank you all in advance for your help.
  10. We are having issue on a machine running kinnetix 5500 drives where we randomly get clock Sync Faults.  This particular machine is set up as a slave looking to another PLC(L36-ERM) on a different station of the same machine as the time master.  There are about a dozen other PLC's(totally different machines) on the same network and most are set up as masters for their own systems and to my knowledge they have never had this issue. There are also dozens of other devices connected to this network, and then this network is part of the facility wide network.( I apologize if this is a little wordy) We are pretty sure that the slave is finding a more accurate clock on the network somewhere and syncing to it causing the servos to fault. We have tried making both the master, and the local clock of these 2 particular PLC's higher priority than the others to eliminate this with no success. What I am trying to do is track what clock this particular slave is looking at as its master when the clock sync fault has occurred.  is there away to do this through ladder logic?  it seems like we should be able to get this information and save it so we can figure out who the culprit is.
  11. Hello Everyone, I am new at this forum, seeking help from you guys and gals. Scenario: I have a Controllogix 1756-L71 5570 controller installed with 1756-TIME module. The function of time module is to take time from GPS clock module in NTP format and send it to controller in PTP format. All the status LED's on Time module are OK. Also sync LED is Green. Still the time of controller is not synchronized with GPS clock there is a difference of 45 mins. Fellows please help. I'll be helpful.
  12. Mitshibisi to Fanuc Robot with cc link

Good day all. I was wondering if someone can assist with the setup between a Mitshibisi R08SFCPU using a RJ61BT11 to talk to a Fanuc Robot controller. So in the screen shot attached i added a generic station because i can not find a file for the fanuc robot. The problem is that it does not give me the option of setting the Rx and RY registers. So not sure how to assign the relevant IO. Anyone with knowledge with this would be great
  13. RIWT special relay

Once agin hello all, im pretty sure, that in the past i found in some manual special relay (SB????), that was set on when PLC was executing RIWT instruction. Now im trying to find once again, but with no luck, ive searched through all manuals that looked relevant, but nothing... any help will be highly appreciated.
  14. Hi everybody,For a while I’ve been wondering, in every plc forum where the use of loops come to discussion I find most people answering that it’s best to stay away from them and that there are better, easier and mostly less scan time demanding solutions out there. Why is that? In my experience they’re the next best thing. Why would referencing data from an array of 40 Dwords using a FOR X:= 0 TO 40 DO loop be any more scan time demanding then the PLC scanning through 40 rungs of statments?Just curious if I’m missing something here. Cheers

  16. PLC Not fast enough?

Hello, I used a Schneider Electric SR3B261B PLC to create a trivia machine (as I call it).  Basically 20 buttons that let contestants ring in to trivia.  There is a display that shows the number of the person who rang in.  It works pretty well unless people press the buttons at exactly the same time.  Then it shows 2 results at the same time.  Usually resulting in a display of 18 when really it was 12 and 14 that rang in, for example. The PLC has options for: "Adjustment of the basic cycle time of the module."   and "Type of Hardware Input Filtering." Which I assume would make the PLC operate faster and avoid two inputs triggering at the same time.  If I change the setting and update the changes do not keep.  I appear unable to change it past 20 x2 ms  and slow (3ms). Is that a correct assumption that changing this would fix it? Why can I not change this?  Is it because I have so many inputs (14 or so) and Outputs (16 or so)? or because my program uses nearly all 240 lines of ladder logic allowed? What can I do to fix this?   Emerald
  17. Do-More Designer

Trying to program production tracking in Do-More 2.3. Need to track current Date, Time of day & current hour.  Anyone have an example of how time of day is used? I have done this in Allen Bradley 5000, but this Automation Direct stuff is new to me.
  18. Hi all, This is my first post here, I read through the FAQ, searched the Allen-Bradley forum and this one for my question but couldn't quite find what i was looking for. My main questions is: Is it possible to programmatically change the service code of a MSG instruction?  It is possible to change the class,  instance and attributes but the application I'm currently writing would be a lot simpler if all I had to create is one instance of the MSG block (and its data) . The only thing stopping me is the service code.   Edit: I'm using a CompactLogix 5380-L306ER   Any input is greatly appreciated!
  19. Hi,   I'm pretty new to allen Bradley and wanted to know if there was a function that could help me out. I have a rotation sensor which feeds back to the PLC via a digital input, once every half second or second once machine is up to speed - I want to record the off time of this DI (how long it is off between pulses, essentially how long it takes for drum to rotate once). Is there some way to record this time and use this value for compare logic? any help would be greatly appreciated.   PLC: Micrologix 1400 series B RSLogix 500 version 11.00.00 (CPR 9)
  20. OMRON CP1L PC Link over Bluetooth

Greetings, My application is utilizing two Omron CP1L PLCs connected through an RS232 serial link to achieve PC Link. We're essentially using this setup to message data between the two PLCs. With a hard-wired link, it works great. I can force bits in the master PLC, and see them in the slave PLC. However our application requires this link to be wireless. We got our hands on two SENA Parani SD1000 units. I've worked with these units previously to connect a serial scanner to a Rockwell PLC quite successfully. After reading through datasheets, we figured out the pin-out from Serial Comms unit fitted to the CP1Ls wasn't quite standard. So we adapted our own cables to re-route VCC and SG appropriately. So with a hard-wired link, this setup works, and the comms units on the PLCs have a nice solid lit up comms light. But with the wireless parani connection, the comms light lights up, but it is very dull compared to the wired link, and we get no data transfer. I've verified to the best of my understanding that the comm settings all match, at 9600 Baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, and Even parity. Just curious if anyone has any suggestions to get this working, or if there are any settings that I might have missed that make PC Link a unique form of RS232 that these parani units can't handle? I've identified online alternative units known as the Promi SD205-OA, which has a pin-out to match the OMRON CP1L PLCs. As far as I can tell though, the units themselves function the same as the Parani SD1000 besides this pin out. Anyone know differently? Presently the serial connections made are Tx -> Rx, Rx -> Tx, Vcc -> Vcc, and SG -> SG. Would I require anymore connections? Our wired link seems to work just fine with just those connections.   Any help would be greatly Appreciated!!
  21. I'm very new to sysmac. I am trying to display the current date and time in the corner of each of my HMI pages. I saw a button labeled date and time. It is asking for a variable for behavior. Do I need to write some basic structured text or FB in plc to get date and time and pass it over? I figured the button would update itsself since when I placed it on the screen it had the current date and time and refreshes every time I leave the page and come back.
  22. Capture Date and Time

I would like to capture current date and time to registers in the PLC. I would prefer to use a function block, if possible, since I need to do the capture at different places in the program. I am using a CJ2M. How can I do it?

  24. Everyone, Using a Q series Mitsu PLC interfacing with a M1P Pilz Safety PLC - and only receiving 32 bits from the SPLC. I have the station setup in GXWorks2 as a device station (occupying 4 stations). I am receiving only the 1st station of the 4 designated. (It is node 9 in the snippet) Any tips on this? (First time posting btw) Thanks, Elliot
  25. There have been many good discussions on the applicability of cloud-based solutions for manufacturing and process control systems. On one side, some people have concerns regarding security and control of the information, on the other side, there are identified benefits enabled by cloud systems. From VMS minicomputers to DOS and Windows, from ArcNet to Ethernet, it is inevitable the industrial automation systems shall adopt the technologies that are getting predominant in IT general use; the current environment that I am calling the “Cloud-iPad era” is no different; therefore the practical discussion is not if those new technologies will be applied in the industrial environment, but how. This paper is not intended to join the conceptual discussion about the cloud, but just to present a few simple practical examples, where cloud technologies are already enhancing industrial automation solutions and enabling new business opportunities.
