  1. Been seeing a high failure rate on these PLC's on 2 of our processes. The control power is feed through a APC UPS to a 24VDC power supply to power the unit. Getting a hard fault where the OK LED comes on red and stays red. It never sequences through all the LED on power up. Tried the hard boot by holding in the reset button and applying power. Has anyone on else seen a high failure rate on this model PLC? TIA..
  2. Morning all, first off, when it comes to controls I’m pretty green so please bear with me.  I have a bunch of old Modicon TSX Compact plc controllers. Some of them have randomly stopped controlling the outputs, I replaced the output card (module? I don’t know what to call it), but no change. I don’t know if the program is messed up, or the main board or something else. I want to read the plc but don’t have and can’t find the software to do so. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.
  3. Hi, I need help finding the length of a string.  I am using an In-sight 9000 series camera with a compact logix 5380 and communicating over ethernet. Unfortunately, the string length is not provided in the AOP, and the barcode length will constantly change. I told to use the FSC instruction, but I cannot get it to work. Thanks
  4. Hi guys I have an control logix plc im looking for a module which is the same as 1769-ascii module. I know that module is for compact logix. Unfortunately i didnt find a good one for that purpose.  Anybody can help with that ? Thanks ahead.
  5. FX3U to FX3U via wifi

Good day fellow PLC ninjas! I have a question/ concern which I would love your opinions on. We have 3 FX3U PLC’s+ENET cards. Two of the 3 PLC’s move around in an EMS trolley. The other is a ‘base station’ with a GOT2000 connected via Ethernet. Base PLC IP = 192.168.1.11 HMI IP = 192.168.1.31 Carrier 1 IP = 192.168.1.61 Carrier 2 IP = 192.168.1.62 I have programmed the base PLC to use Active communication; we are using fixed buffer communication to send and receive data to/ from the Carriers. The carriers are set up as Fullpassive ‘slaves’. This part works well and the update time changes (using a counter in the base station) from 1s to 100ms (because it enters a different work station).  My issue is the following: using a network sniffer (WireShark), I pick up plenty of re-transmits and sequence number errors coming from the base PLC’s ENET card. This is troublesome and causes delays when the update time is required to be fast (100ms). I am sending and receiving 10 words of data. The wifi seems stable, and there is minimal noise in the area. The power has been turned down and the antennas used are suited well for the application. The antennas are at a similar height to minimize possible loss of signal. I have LOS (line-of-sight) to the carriers at all times; to at least one of the antennas (I am using 802.11n). Has anyone picked up issues or found settings which can be used for comms over wifi? I can easily do this using a S7-1200 Siemens PLC and have done so using 12x S7-1200 clients and 2 AP’s with 1 base PLC. I have also successfully done this using 8xFX3U client with a System Q base PLC. My suspicion is that the delay in reading and writing to/ from the BFM in the ENET card is causing this. I am not sure that if I change to a FX5U will help. The communication cards on the Mitsubishi PLC’s seem very limited. Does anyone have any technical details on the access times between the CPU and communications cards’ BFM? Help is as always, appreciated.
  6. I'm trying to send an int over TCP using a MSG Socket,  Compactlogix ==> Arduino Ethernet Shield I have set up TCP communication between two Arduino Uno's using Ethernet shield. I've set up the one as a server, the other as a client. server IP: 192.168.1.21 port 23. If the client is connected it reads incoming data as a byte or an array of bytes. The data between the two has been verified to work. I'm now trying to transition the communications between a compact logix-L32E. I'm looking to send a byte (or int being as there's no byte data type) from the Compactlogix to the Arduino using TCP. To my understanding I need to use a socket create, open, read/write, close. The manual to do this is vague as a step by step procedure. Does anyone have an example code for socket programming? I can open rs500, rs5000, and studio 5000 programs. If I can open a file to use as a reference I can translate it on my own. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
  7. I have a purchased Machine that came with a Siemens LOGO 8.FSR PLC (Smart Relay). Generally we use Allen Bradley or Mitsubishi. Anyway, we need to communicate data between the LOGO and an Allen Bradley Compact Logix.  I do not desire to add an additional network to the AB but as best i can tell the LOGO is exclusively Modbus TCP/IP. Has anyone come across a similar situation?  I look online and did find an  Anybus module that claims to be able to link them together.  Looking for anyone who has faced this challenge and succeeded, or failed.   Thanks
  8. Hello  We have just purchased some equipment with a Control Logix 5561 (1756-L61/B Rev 13.40). The compact flash card is missing from the unit but the seller says the unit was running in his facility prior to shipping. Does the 5561 have internal memory where a program is stored? Is the Compact Flash used only for recipes and persistent data? Thank you
  9. I'm wanting to get upload the program from a CompactLogix L31 Controller.  I'm using a generic (non Allen Bradley) "C2G brand" usb -->rs232 cable coming directly off of my laptop because I don't have a serial port out.  The rs232 side of the C2G cable is a "pin out" or male end, and as you can see in the picture, the serial port at Channel 1 on the controller is also male.  I'm using a generic (non-Allen Bradley) null modem (female-->female) cable to complete the connection.  Ultimately, I'm not seeing the controller on linx.  But that's a result of me not being able to configure the driver.  When I try to auto configure this driver, Linx gives me an error saying, "Unable to verify settings due to a NAK!" btw, the rs232 cable going into channel 0 is for the HMI on the machine. A pv600 1. How do I get online and upload the program from the controller? 2. What does NAK mean?
  10. Hello everyone,   I need to communicate a CompactLogix to a Kuka KRC 4 by Ethernet/IP but I do not know to generate the EDS file..... any clue please ?
  11. Hello! I have a project where I need to use Allen Bradley PLC, it might be one of CompactLogic series. In scope of the project I need to transfer few real values to DirectLogic PLC that installed on customer side. DirectLogic PLC has installed ethernet card that support Modbus TCP, TCP/IP and UDP/IP protocols as it says on automationdirect website. I start looking for Allen Bradley PLC that support Modbus TCP or TCP/UDP protocol and did find clear information. Could you help me to find out a way how I can pass the data to directlogic PLC from CompactLogic?   Thank you in advance!   Regards, Scotty

How could I find ON State duration of an Input/Output, in Compact Logix PLC? So it would help me to show in HMI that how long the I/O is ON.Kindly assist me.Thanks in advance

  15. HOW TO CONNECT AB 1769-L33ER ETHERNET /IP TO MOD BUS RTU
  16. Has anybody tried communicating Allen Bradley 5069 Compact logix PLC with Red Lion HMI ?  I am unable to communicate them in spite of adding AB tags via L5K file which gives me no error. I am able to see all the tags in Crimsion 3.0 software in development mode.  However, PLC & HMI are not communicating with each other. I am able to ping to both, using the same program in PLC of which I generated L5K file.  I think it may have something to do with the driver as 5069 is a new line of PLC Rockwell come out with only in 2016.
  17. Thanks for your time.  We have purchased from auction a Getinge Autoclave (sterilizer) with Allen-Bradley controls (CompactLogix L32E).  The machine has a PanelView Plus 1000 installed.  A CD came with the machine w/ the following files.. HMI Project - (.apa file) Runtime (.mer file) Their is also a compact flash card installed in the CompactLogix L32E.  On the Panel View, their is an external Compact Flash slot, but no card, and on the inside of the panel view (if i remove the back cover) their is a compact flash card slot with a card installed.  I haven't checked what is on either of those cards yet.. We cannot get the program to load on the panel view. When the machine is powered on, the panel view goes through a quick dos setup screen and then the screen turns blue and we are stuck with an hour glass icon.  The icon will move depending upon where you touch on the screen.  I can boot the panel view in safe mode (by hitting the default button, then reset) at which point I get a message stating that the machines files may be corrupted and leaves me the options to Download new Firmware, or Continue.  Hitting Continue nothing happens, and choosing Download gives me Ethernet, or Serial options.  The Panel View is connected to the PLC via ethernet so I choose this option and it  gets stuck at this point. We do not want to make any changes to the program, but just to get it to run on the machine.  We do not have ANY of the software. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Craig
