  1. Looking for some servo application help. Software: I have GX works 2, GT Designer, and GX Developer.  Hardware: PLC L06CPU-P, GOT2000 HMI, MR-J4-350B servo amps, HG-JR35JK motors, LD77MS2 Pulser I have (2) AC servos that will simply move an aluminum frame backwards and forwards using a FESTO belt mover and I have a servo gear reducer 20:1. I have a "simple motion module"and all of this hardware and software, plenty of time, and would really like to finish this project off. But this is my first servo and my first hmi project. I have some experience with Omron, Mitsubishi, and Allen-Bradley plc's, and consider myself novice at best. Any sample programs or help getting me started would be greatly appreciated!
  2. Hi, I have encountered an unexpected "PRI" LED indication of 1756-RM Series B module. When the affected redundancy module is set to primary, the status of the "PRI" LED indicator is blinking red. On the other hand, it is set to a solid red when the RM is set as secondary. I have read the manual and there are only two expected behavior for the "PRI" LED indicator, green if it is set as the primary and off if it is secondary. Does someone encountered this scenario already?   P.S. The RM does not have any minor/major faults when accessed. The status indicator indicates "PRIM" when the affected module is set as primary and "SYNC" when set as secondary. Manual switchover between controllers are done and was successful. Thanks in advance! Regards, RIValencia
  3. I'm looking for some general information about different types of vibration/temperature sensors. What type, brand, model number, etc. will best fit my application.  Scenario: I want to monitor the vibration and temperature of multiple motors and gearboxes for a large overhead conveyor system. If an oil leak occurs and temperature increases, I want to see a temp. alert via a HMI. If a something mechanical fails, I want to see a vibration alert via a HMI.  I've looked into sensors that stick to the outside housing of the motors or gearboxes via a magnet. My concern is justifying the temperature readings. How accurate would a sensor that reads an "ambient" temperature be (compared to a thermocouple on the motor coil itself or some sort of probe)? Also, would the location of the magnet  on the motor or gearbox drastically affect the temp. or vib. readings? Has anyone had success with a similar setup? If so, what devices did you utilize? Are these systems truly beneficial?  I'm currently considering Banner's wireless products...
  4. Hello everyone, we have two damaged analog cards for CompactLogix PLC ( 1769-OF8C  & 1769-IF8) that we are going to replace. my experience is with Siemens and Schneider PLC's  but for Allen Bradley, not so much so my question is : are there any requirements or specification other than the part-number that could prevent the cards from going in service directly ? as for the firmware, series and so on ?  and do i need to do any extra work after replacing the card ? thank you Best Regards
  5. Problem with Ethernet module CMM321

Hi, I am new in the group and also a new user of PLC series 90-30 an we have a communication issue. I want to know how to go to baseplate configuration window through Cimplicity machine edition?
  6. Beckhoff and AS-Interface

Hi, I’m trying to control 10 Safety switchgear using AS interface, and since I’m using Beckhoff as a PLC I want to use "KL6211 | AS-Interface master terminal" as a Gateway but since this is the first time I’m using Beckhoff I’m a bit lost, So my questions are: -          Is it a good idea to use a Beckhoff ASI terminal? -          How to configure it? -          Is there a possibility to configure it using embedded PC ( I’m using CX2030)? Excuse my English.
  7. Logo!8 sensor compatibility/display

Hi there,  I am brand new to the world of PLCs. I'm working on a project and we will be using the LOGO! 8. We will be monitoring a tractor's ground speed, wheel speed, (wheel slip using those two), oil pressure, tachometer, EGT, and system voltage.  As I said, I'm brand new to all of these things. Any tips or advice to get started? Or things to avoid? Specifically when choosing sensors. Also, we were thinking of a tablet to display these measurements in real time. Any suggestions? I was thinking the Simatic HMI touchscreen may be a better option for compatibility. This will be on a competition tractor, though. From experience, how durable/rugged are these displays? It would mostly be subjected to dirt, vibrations, and quick jerks.  Any advice to help guide my Googling adventures would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you.

  15. Programming a HMI to revert to Home Screen

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone here could explain to me how I can program my human-machine interface (HMI) to revert to a Home Screen after a period of inactivity. If the user has to leave at any time, and leaves the HMI on the last screen he/she was working on, I want the HMI to revert back to my Home Screen after 60 seconds inactivity. Has anyone here done anything similar to this before? Do you think it's worth the trouble of having such a function built into the HMI? Thank you for your time and for reading.
  16. EMS provides low cost analog sensors useful for PLC analog inputs. For example the $25 temperature sensor (+/- 2%) is a useful and inexpensive way to monitor for an over temperature condition in a panel cabinet. emssensors.com AC voltage and current transmitters can be a useful way to monitor motor performance. Even the sound level sensor can be a good way to generate an alarm condition for a bearing failure.
  17. Hi guys, I'm in the middle of a little university project, I'm attempting to implement a control system purely based on artificial intelligence. A neural network will be used to map the characteristics of a power plant. A fuzzy logic controller will be used instead of the conventional PID and finally a genetic algorithm will be used to tune the controller while the system is online. This is all simulated of course. Each of those AI's will be developed in Matlab. Only problem with that is, is it outputs the code in C or C++ (From memory). I would have to convert this to structured text (Based on Pascal). So to circumvent this problem I thought I would just directly interface matlab to the PLC (Schneiders M340).  My idea being, all the calculations are done in matlab which are then sent back to the PLC. However this presents me with a new problem of how I would be able to interface matlab to the PLC. If anyone has experience with this sort of connectivity, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, Luchek
  18. Hi! I have my 1756 IF8 wired in high speed differential mode but i can't configure the RTS smaller than 11 ms. What I understand it should be possible to set as low as 5 ms if module filter setting is 1000 Hz. Is there anything else that i have to do?
  19. Mitsubishi Analog

Good day everyone, I know am quite new in this forum, but... Please has anyone here actually worked with the analog module FX2N-4AD of Mitsubishi?  I have one here with me that I intend to use in controlling a process that will be requiring 4-20mA. Unfortunately, unlike S7-300 or SLC 500, that is quite straight forward, this has been messing with my head since morning. And oh, by the way, am using Version 8 of GX-developer.   Any idea on how to go about navigating this mysterious island will be verily appreciated.   Thanks. Francis
  20. Hi 1- How can I identify a disable x20 module (in physical view) cyclically ? I am looking for a funation block who can do that because I want to use the 'Module Ok' status of x20 module to check if their presence. Problem is 'module Ok' status is the same for module missing or disable. 2- Could I disable a module using fonction block? (FYI I already know the right click in physical view). Thanks
  21. module diagnostic

Hi. I have Q12HCPU and Q358 Base unit. How to read from CPU which module removed from base unit when PLC is runing ? Which address storing diagnostic information?
  22. I'm using TM221CE40T PLC with TM3DI16 DI extension. I'm programming it using SoMachine Basic. In the program I implemented a counter (%C0). I've read in the documentation that %Ci.V stores the current count value. I want that to display this value on a Magelis HMIS5T. How could I store the current count value (%Ci.V)? Thanks in advance!
  23. hey!  I'm pretty new to PLC's, and I'm supposed to ''teach'' the people at my internship how this PLC works, but I have encountered a problem.  I've gotten pretty far with all the digital programming and understanding how everything works, but I just can't figure out how the analog inputs/outputs and programming works...... I've had a fair explaination on PID and how this works. I've searched the web as well to figure out what PLC instructions to use.    I hope you can answer my following questions.    1, what are the most used PLC instruction blocks which I can use for temperature control, and how am I supposed to use them? 2, Could you please give me an example on how to use PID and what numbers will I need for the calculations? 3, what are the most used PLC Instruction blocks (apart form the analog ones) that I should include in my tutorial?   this is my setup: Ethernet switch MOXA EDS-205 Plc voeding PA202 PLC CPU CJ1MCPU11-ETN Digital IN (16x) CJ1W-ID211 (SL) Digital IN (16x) CJ1W-ID211 (SL) Analog IN (8x) CJ1W-AD081 (SL) Analog IN (8x) CJ1W-AD081 (SL) TRANS OUT (16x) CJ1W-OD212 (SL) TRANS OUT (16x) CJ1W-OD212 (SL) Analog OUT (4x) CJ1W-DA041 (SL)   thank you soo much for looking at my question and considering helping me! the OMRON helpdesk hasn't been very helpfull.    kind regards,    Deuslupos,
  24. FX3G-2AD-BD Store Peak Value

Good day, I'm new to this forum and to mitsubishi PLC but was hoping for some assistance with a programming issue. I have been through the hardware and programming manuals without luck for this issue. Hardware: FX3G-60mt FX3G-2AD-BE Settings: Structured ladder/FBD Current input mode on: M8260 (first board, first input)   What I need to do is to record the peak value over a cylinder stroke period. The hardware manual explains how to average the value using averaging time, however I basically need to peak hold and send that to a D register for go no-go compare.    Process as follows: Contact closed, monitor D8260, contact open, move peak value from D8260 during monitor duration to D205.    Thanks in advance for any assistance. -Swervomotor
  25. Hello, does anyone here know what instruction to use to read the analog value from ch0 and display the reading for DVP-10SX plc? I'm lost, need help.
