  1. Detect CF memory card activity

Hi! I'm looking for a way to detect if/when a backup has been made to the CF memory card and a way to detect if a backup has been written from the CF memory card to the PLC memory. A counter, a time/date, etc? In short: detect backup and/or restore Application: Trigger an audit log event on a seperate system Any known solutions?

  3. Dear Experts I have Compact Logix L33ER processor for Hot Backup Redundancy Purpose in WTP application. Iam using Flexlogix 1794-OB16 DO outputs. Flex adapter for IO communication. Iam trying for Soft Redundancy from main processor to peer and peer to main processor . During Switchover from Main to Peer and Peer to main Processor, the DOs are cut off. While in the middle of the process if the Switchover of PLC happens due to failure of Main or Peer PLC, if the DOs are cut off, Should i Start the process sequence logic from beginning? I tried configuring the DO properties of  Communication Fail Behavior in output modules properties as "Hold Last Output but still the DOS are cut off during switchover. Then also Iam facing the problem of DO cutoff whle switchover. Iam having same program and IO configuration in main and peer plc generated through HotBackup tool. Please let me know if there is any way to Prevent DO cutoff while switchover . Also in Panelview HMI iam using 2 screens for Main and Peer PLC. While switchover the screens in HMI are showing in boxes. Please advise. Regards Krithik.K
  4. Hi,  We have 2 x 1756-L71 Processors joined together with a pair of 1756-RM2/A redundancy modules. The rack also has 1756-EN2T and 1756-CN2R modules.    I was called to the site after a power outage and found that the link between the 2 CPUs had failed with one displaying no program and the link modules with error lights. The ControlNet cards also had red lights on both channels and all of the FlexIO devices were red Xed in RSLinx. I went down the path of trying to get the CPUs up, and running but this was a red herring as I was informed that if the CPU's get out of Sync and have any faults on the cards the secondary one will lose its project. The ControlNet cards were giving a no Active Keeper fault? So we went down the path of the ControlNet cards, I initially thought that it was that the cards had lost their configuration files but we isolated the coax network to just the 2 cards, and the CP's and ControlNet cards came back up online. We joined the network back onto the ControlNet cards and found a faulty 1794-ACNR15/CFlexIO module. Once we replaced this the other devices (48 devices on the network) were not being discovered on the network. We went around and power cycled the IO units and then they started to Auto discover and the site came back up - Note CPUs were in Program mode at the time and I flicked them to Run and the site came back online. Does anyone have any information on why they needed to be power cycled and is there likely to be an underlying issue other than the single failed module pulling the network down?
  5. I am looking help with an issue I have trying to connect to a 5370 Controller 1769-L33ER. The controller firmware is 20.014 and my studio does not have 20.014 firmware. I have downloaded the firmware and do not know how to get it extracted to my PC. Any help with this will be grateful.  Regards
  6. I am building a redundant system using S7-1515R-2 CPU with TIA V16 version. Creating the hardware, there is not possible to insert any other card to the rack. Even power modules (PM) can not be inserted to the rack. How should I make the power feeding to the CPU. Should I use two power modules/devices or only one. How can I insert IO-cards to the system, is the only possibility to use Profinet IM-cards. In this system I am connecting the bus to the ring and using S2.
  7. Hello, does anyone know the best connection method between an S71500R/H profinet MRP ring (2 x S7 1500R controllers in redundant profinet ring) and an S7400 DP Master ?
  8. Dear PLC forum. I have an issue with a customer who has bought some equipment with CQM1H-CPU61 installed. In order to program certain changes the device requires the password. Both I and the customer have contacted Omron but the only solution from their side was to buy a new system. As I have managed to find via googling the password can be recovered with Plc Backup Tools V6.0 software.  Does anyone have the installer for this software and are they willing to share it with me? Thanks in advance.
  9. Geo1000

Hello all, I have a problem with PLC at work. I am working on historical code with a view to upgrading it for a roll out program to all site based PLCs. The code is to be downloaded using memory cassettes, and there is data on the PLC's which needs to be retained. I have re-worked the code and it performs as I would expect as per the following: 1) I download original code (V2.01) to PLC using CX1 2) The PLC simulates a cycle and various values are stored (the key variables are Installation Date and Service Due date). 3) I then download my code to the PLC and the variables have been retained. All so good so far.   The problem is that the factory production line uses PLC code saved using the PLC Backup Tool. When I download the original code to the PLC using this tool, I encounter various issues, but the main one is to do with real time PLC clock values. When I download the code direct from CX one developer,  I use the MOVD(083) instruction on A352 through four to give me a variable with the date, month and year. This morning (29/01/2019) the BCD values read as 41, 1 and 25, which translates to 29 (0010 1001), 1 and 19 (0001 1001). When I download the backed up code using the PLC  Backup tool, the values are totally different. I have run the backup files for both codes through a comparison program and there are no differences between them at all....... Can any one advise if they have experienced this before??   Thanks.
  10. MAC E300 backup

Hi everybody! I should help to upgrade some automation equipment, that has a FX2n and MAC E300 onboard. I.e. all SPS are quite old, obsolete and discontinued in production for a long. So will be useful to make an uploading of program from the HMI, otherwise, when it may die, all autmomation system will  die... However, in contrast to the PLC program, the program in HMI is password protected for upload and download. Excuse for my question, but is there a way to bypass this password without losing an HMI program. Thanks in advance
  11. What is the best way to get to the configure screen when the mer file is set to auto run on the hmi. I need to get this file out before this screen finally quits on me.
  12. A machine was bought at auction which included PLC-5/15 module.  It did not come with a backup of the program.  Our maintenance technician said the program would not load and turned the module over to me (IT).  I notice the battery was installed in '92 so am assuming the program is lost.  Is their any internal memory or last ditch effort i can attempt to recover the program from this module?
  13. iFIX restore problem

Hi, I have .fbk backup file of iFix aplication (i mean).. When I try to restore it by "Backup&Restore Wizard" in part where I "Browse" the way to Backup file and click on "Next" is problem. Pop-up window show -> "Bad file format. The archive file may be an old version or a wrong version in header signature or is not a Proficy iFIX full backup file (.fbk)" ....  My question is = Is possible to find what of version is my backup file ??? when i suppose this error mean i have installed wrong version of iFIX sofware (my version is iFIX 5.5).. Or is no problem of my iFIX version ?  Thanks

  16. C200H CPU23 MemoryUnit Backup

Hello, first of all sorry for my english skills. I've got two questions about a 20years old PLC from Omron (C200H CPU23). This PLC is still working in one of my machines and I have also a second one for the worst case scenario.... Now my Questions: If i take the Memory Unit (EEPROM) from the PLC 1 and connect it to the PLC 2 is my machine still running ? Did the PLC copy the programm automaticly from ROM to RAM and             everything is fine? I also need a backup of the Memory Unit (c200h-me831). What are my options? Did I need a programming cable, Software (CX-One?) to make a Backup of the Program to a second Memory Unit?   I hope there is someone who worked with this kind of PLC. Thanks a lot for helping me Greets Andy
  17. SIEMENS S7 STATION

Dear All, I am very new to S7 PLC programming (S7 Simatic Manager v5.5) and I wanted to know how to back-up a system consisting of multiple PLC Stations (S7-1200, S7-300, etc). I am able to upload station to PG but that will save only per station. How about saving the whole system? I am not sure if i am using the right terminology. As you can see, I was given a zip file for the S7 project and it contains the whole system. I am trying to see how the commissioning engineer was able to do it (don't ask why I am not asking him instead). How can I then use this project file to download the program to the PLC/system once I decide to restore. I am at loss and have been searching for references over the internet. Uploading and downloading per station is no problem. I cannot seem to know how to do it on multiple stations system. I hope I have made some clear question or somehow you have managed to understand it.  TIA.
  18. Hello, My quest is to make a memory card, which I can just put into my PLC on the field and load all program and options etc to my plc. Now i found the official omron guide about it but its not good at all... For example is does not explain that how i need to transfer the H and D memory part to the plc, and that not all network settings are being copied if im not careful.   But my question is: is it possible to make this backup memory card without having the actual plc? Because the process is done in memory card window, which is only available if you are online. So basicly i have to get all the plc rack parts to make this work? I tried with the simulator but ofc it is not working.   Someone mentioned me that it is possible he heard from someone but no one actually knows how to. And there is nothing in the omron manual as i see.
  19. PAROCK1 for HMI/SCADA View File Now a software solution is available for your Modbus (MB) needs in Rockwell/Allen-Bradley Control Logix or Compact Logix (Clgx) family processors, instead of a traditional 3rd party hardware like Prosoft MVI-56, Molex SST-SR4-CLX-RLL etc.  It is an Add-on instruction (AOI) for PLC/PAC firmware v16 or later, (other solutions are available for pre v16 systems).  For hardware interface, use PLC’s channel 0 (serial) or TCP/IP Interface module(s) to have as many MB TCP/IP devices or serial devices.  (Some limits apply based on system configurations, Comm. settings depending on HW used.) 20. CPM1A Backup/password

Hi all, I hope one of you kind people could help me: I have an Omron CPM1A CPU where the outputs are damaged. I have a new blank CPU and I would like to transfer the program, however, the UM is read-protected. The backup tool doesn't seem to cater for the CPM1A. Is there any other way the program could be transferred? The customer does not have the program or the password. I do not believe that I am interfering with any intellectual rights here because the OEM are long since departed and all I want to do is transfer the program, not modify it. Many thanks in advance. JG.
  21. A2SH PLC

I have encountered memory backup battery failure/fully drained in MITSUBISHI A2SH PLC.So RUN LED started flashing on PLC. Thus no field parameters values were being shown on HMI. I connected PC with PLC through serial RS232 cable using GX DEVELOPER 8 , the connection test was successful. Then I tried to download my project saved on PC to PLC, then I was amazed as It asked for a keyword. However when the backup battery was working , I downloaded the same project but it did not ask for any keyword. Can anyone explain this. Now the real problem is that the program was developed by somebody long ago , to whom I don't have any contact right now and I m helpless as I don't know the keyword and can not download the program and thus my machine is at halt. I tried to clear the user memory from online menu , but it says the function not supported. I m stuck and frustrated . Anybody 's help is greatly appraised in anticipation. Of course I m not asking for hacking a keyword. Just to know how can I make my system functional. Thanks everybody.
