  2. Serial communication with KINCO PLC

    Hello to everyone. Nice to meet you all. I am programming a KINCO PLC model HP043-20DT using ladder on KINCO BUILDER. I need to establish a serial communication with my PC. The PLC has a RS485 port which I adapted it to USB to connect with my PC. The PLC allows, at least, two ways to establish serial communication: MODBUS or free-protocol. I've read the software manual and tried to reproduce the examples it provides using the instruction blocks for MODBUS (MBUSR and MBUSW) and free-protocol (XMT and RCV) communications. However, I could not receive the data on the PLC. I could effectively transmit data with XMT from the PLC to the PC and I could verify through a tool called Access Port. In relation to MODBUS, I am using a simulation tool called Multiway from OMRON, however, I get no response from the PLC. If any of you have some experience with this software or this device, I would like to ask you how could I solve the problem. Thank you for your attention. Kind regards.
  3. So, I have thought about creating my own Business for the last few years. With this business I would go shop to shop/factory to factory teaching anywhere from Basic PLC programming to HMI design and integrations. I love to share any bit of my Knowledge/experience with anyone and I have learned this more when at my first engineering job they had me train several guys on how to start up Servo Motor jobs with PLC and HMI's. I really enjoyed helping others learn and get over the hump of intimidation and lack of experience with electronics and such. I have had a lot of different experience from being an Electrician for 5 years to Engineering 10+ years now- (Design, Software, Startups, Service work, Installs, and Management) I then started a career of being a PLC Instructor (part-time for 1 year now) for adults and this too help me with my idea of starting my business. At my instructing school we would get a variety of people anywhere from fresh out of High School to experienced Maintenance guys that want to specialize in PLC and HMI's.  With all of this being said, does anyone think there would be a great amount of need for someone to come your work place and teach Allen Bradley, Omron, and Mitsubishi PLC and HMI and maybe one day down the road Servo Motors and logic for them too? I think that more one on one with a couple trainer lab stations, I could really help not only workers advance themselves but also companies benefit both? I have gone to training for my previous employers, sometimes traveling far away for a week at a time and costing my employer a lot of money where my rate would be much less and on-site of the customer/trainee's. Starting out I have bought several used pieces of PLC's, Input Cards, Output Cards, (Only Allen Bradley for now). I have also bought cases to make my training units more safe and portable. Looking at creating a business name and logo as well as possibly creating a (LLC). It has been a slow but steady process though. Feel free to add anything or comment anything to this with ideas.   Thanks!

I wanted to know what are the advantages of using a paid proprietary SCADA software such as WinCC, Wonderware, cimplicity over free software such as OpenSCADA, OpenAPI, IndigoSCADA and so on. I have read, there are more layers of security in the paid one. What does that mean? What are the other main differences between the paid and free ones out there in the market?

    PLC doesn't respond to communication requests or responds negatively to such requests. A PLC communication error can occur between the programmable computer and the devices it controls or when the technician attempts to program the device. If anybody have idea then share i am fresher now i learn it from CETPA INFOTECH. I think this is the best place to ask.

I am an experienced electrical/electronics technician with 6 years of maintenance experience, and my boss at the factory recently suggested that I should start learning PLCs so I can take over the automation maintenance all by my own team. I have a lot of time to prepare for this position. What is the optimal way to start? We are working with OMRON equipment. I found some courses that look interesting, so my training plan is: 1 finish the free courses - the ones from Omron Learning website - the one from LinkedIn learning "Learning PLC Ladder Logic Course by: Zahraa Khalil" 2 finish the payed courses on UDEMY - Learn 5 PLCs in a Day-AB, Siemens, Schneider, Omron & Delta - PLC Programming From Scratch (PLC I) -  Practical PLC Programming (PLC II) -  Process Visualization with HMI / SCADA (PLC III) -  Advanced Programming Paradigms (PLC IV) - From Wire to PLC , A Bootcamp In Industrial Automation -  Factory Automation using PLC Logics   That being said, can you suggest me more courses / textbooks / training programs?     Hello, I am sorry I am sure this has been asked before but I did some searching and didn't find much. I have no experience with PLC's and my manager has suggested I take some classes to fill a void in our team's skill set.  We use Allen Bradley PLC's and have a seat of RSlogix5000.  I hope to learn how to modify existing programs for some of our test equipment.  I want to add sensors to some existing test equipment and record data generated by these sensors.  My question for this group is If you were just getting started and you had a budget for a week of training what classes would you take? Where would you take them?  My manger and I realize a week of training may barely scratch the surface.  Is Allen Bradley's training worth the time and money for travel?  Is there local 3rd party training I can find in the Cleveland area that teaches RSlogix5000?     I am thinking about the below courses.
