  1. Good Morning, I have some questions around the FactoryTalk View software used to create and modify Panelview Plus programs. I am currently working with Panelview Plus 1000. I have recently done a bit of programming on older panels through Panelbuilder32 so I have a some AB experience, but by no means am I an expert. This whole process seems a little overcomplicated (coming from an OMRON background)... having to upload, restore, then create back to runtime whilst having to match versions... First question is file types. I have noticed there are two file types. .APA and .MER. I have tried doing a little research but cannot figure out what the actual difference between these two file types are. I do know that when I upload the program from the HMI it comes in a .MER. Will this file contain all of the information from the original program? I have read some things about people losing security and communication set-up... Before I go downloading a modified program I would like to make sure this is not the case. Second question is with regards to editing procedure. My understanding is, as I mentioned above, I upload the .MER then I proceed to restore the application using FactoryTalk. I then edit everything I want. Is the correct procedure to then create a runtime application and then download that to the HMI. This question kind of ties into the first as I am really only worried about downloading and losing comms / security log ins. Third question is with regards to version. My understanding is I must match the version with the current version installed on the HMI. Is there anything more to this? When I create runtime application all I have to do is make sure the version type matches that of the HMI? Any help is very much appreciated :) Cheers, dWiseman

  6. We had to migrate over to a different domain and all of a sudden my Transaction Manager asking for a username and password and I have no clue what it is.  Any ideas on what could have caused this and why this is popping up?
  7. Hello.  This is my first post and I hope someone has a solution. I have a program calculating Gal/sec adding to a running total and have up to the end.  Using REAL I can accumulate up to 16,777,216 (2^24) and using DINT up to 2,147,483,648 (2^31), but I need to have my registers continue past these limits.  I've read through many topics here and have tried the Rockwell Knowledge Base but can't seem to find a solution that truly works.  I have gone so far as to transfer the DINT to a string, cut the string into pieces and reassemble them in an Odometer type concatenation. If anyone has a suggestion, I would appreciate it.  I know I'm not the only one with this problem. PS & BTW - I'm using Studio 5000 v24 with a 1769 L33ER
  8. Thanks for your time.  We have purchased from auction a Getinge Autoclave (sterilizer) with Allen-Bradley controls (CompactLogix L32E).  The machine has a PanelView Plus 1000 installed.  A CD came with the machine w/ the following files.. HMI Project - (.apa file) Runtime (.mer file) Their is also a compact flash card installed in the CompactLogix L32E.  On the Panel View, their is an external Compact Flash slot, but no card, and on the inside of the panel view (if i remove the back cover) their is a compact flash card slot with a card installed.  I haven't checked what is on either of those cards yet.. We cannot get the program to load on the panel view. When the machine is powered on, the panel view goes through a quick dos setup screen and then the screen turns blue and we are stuck with an hour glass icon.  The icon will move depending upon where you touch on the screen.  I can boot the panel view in safe mode (by hitting the default button, then reset) at which point I get a message stating that the machines files may be corrupted and leaves me the options to Download new Firmware, or Continue.  Hitting Continue nothing happens, and choosing Download gives me Ethernet, or Serial options.  The Panel View is connected to the PLC via ethernet so I choose this option and it  gets stuck at this point. We do not want to make any changes to the program, but just to get it to run on the machine.  We do not have ANY of the software. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Craig
  9. Hi, New to the site,  seeking help with an Inkjet Coder that the company I work for recently purchased. A customer is wanting us to have the printer message selection automated, because parts got out with the wrong print on them. We purchased a Linx 5900 and want to use the serial port on a slc 5/03 to send a command to select the message based on a selector switch's position. I've been pretty desperate trying to find help with this issue, because this is my first time messing with a printer. I've got the AWA instruction set up and it will send a string, but I'm not sure what to have in the string or if I have everything configured right. I've attached the program for you guys to look through, the AWA instructions are at the end of LAD 13. I'm using the serial port to make changes to the program then hooking it into the printer to try the changes out so its a bit frustrating, but I don't have a pc with windows xp sp2 so using the DH485 port is not an option. Any help will be greatly appreciated.   CNTRPUSH_4_2017.RSS

  17. I'm using a 1769-ASCII and need help with one part of it.  I have no issues with sending data.  The manufacturer shows the following as the process...   My question is: how do I evaluate the XON\XOFF?  The machine states "This communication protocol tells the status if it can receive any data or not to the host by sending "XON" (HEX 11H) or "XOFF" (HEX 13H) to the signal line."  I never receive any data so I'm not sure what's wrong or if what I'm doing is correct.  The attached file is same code downloaded from AB's website which is what I based my code off of.   http://search.rockwellautomation.com/search?client=samplecode&oe=UTF-8&ie=UTF-8&output=xml_no_dtd&proxystylesheet=samplecode&site=sample_code&getfields=*&lang=en&hl=en&sort=date:D:L:d1&wc=200&wc_mc=1&ud=1&filter=0&q=ASCII   62119.exe

  23. Expressions

Hi forum members!   I am spinning the wheels on trying to get my expression to validate.  I am new to expressions so after trying for a bit I have thrown in the towel and am looking to the experts here to help me out. As you can see with attachment I am trying to change the color of the valve top hat.  I am needing 3 colors: Gray when closed, Green when open and in Auto, and Yellow when open and in Manual. I was asked to not change the PLC logic as this could be done from the SCADA level.. After looking at my application and attempt do you have any suggestions on what I am doing wrong?    My Expression:  If {::[Process]Program:Boilers_Main.LV_36101_New} < 3  Then 0  Else  If {::[Process]Program:Boilers_Main.LV_36101_New} >= 3  AND {[Process]LIC_36101A_PIDE.Auto}  Then 1  Else  Then  If {[Process]LIC_36101A_PIDE.manual}  Then 2
  24. Hi all I am setting up a batch tank system, I have 1 pump which can pump to six different tanks(via pneumatic actuated valves). This is my first go with a HMI, usually I would use a multiple position switch. Is it possible to make a six position selector switch with a HMI? I am using a AB Panel-View 800, has anyone done this before? Any help would be appreciated.
  25. Hello All! I am having difficulties mapping register values. In the TURCK register there are 24 unique register bytes corresponding to different value registers (8bit x 24). These 24(8bit) bytes were mapped into RSLOGIX 5000 as 12(16bit) INT words ....INT[12] .. This means there are 2 bytes (2 unique register values) inside each INT word. WHAT I NEED TO ACHIEVE: 1. (BLUE outline in drawing) Write/Map a value of "32" into byte 7 of the TURCK register so effectively starting at  INT[5].8 in RSLOGIX           Drawing1-Model.pdf This will enable the value of CNT1 (encoder count) to be registered in bytes 8-11... 2.  (PINK outline in drawing) READ/MAP the values registered in bytes8,9,10 and 11(4x8bits) into a SINGLE 32bit INT value which will tell me the CNT1 value of my encoder. I am having problems when ever I try to COP a value of 32 (no matter what kind of array it's sourced from) into INT[5].8 & I haven't tried to map/read the values of bytes 8-11 CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP EXPLAIN HOW TO ACHIEVE THIS?! Thanks for your input EVERYONE! :D Drawing1-Model.pdf
