  1. Cognex VC5 Vision Controller

I'm looking for some help in regards to programming an Omron PLC (CX-Programmer) to control a Cognex VC5 Vision controller to trigger CIC5000 cameras. I have the Ethernet/IP mapping and I am able to send user data to the VC5 controller at this point. I believe there a steps I'm missing within the Cognex Designer program to send notifications to the PLC but I'm not sure where to start. Any help in pointing me in the right direction is much appreciated.
  2. Insert existing attachment A lot of automation cells we get done are made outside of shop so we don't typically have any current acd files for the plc. I am trying to make changes to the program but uploading seems to be giving me some problems. The initial upload seems to work fine I can select a file to save to and I begin to see the file being upload, the problem comes after about two minutes near the end of the upload. Attached is the error I see after the upload stops. Has anyone seen this problem before and know of a solution? Any help would be appreciated. Current controller Studio 5000 Logix Designer 28.03.00 1756-L71S

  4. Hi. I am new to Allen Bradley PLCs and bumped into the following issue, that I cannot find any solution to. When trying to add a module to the I/O configuration I get the attached error, error code 80131940. This prevents me from adding any hardware configurations in Logix Designer. I have tried to reinstall Logix Designer and uninstall all AOPs. I am running V30.00.00 on a Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 OS. Your feedback is very much appreciated.
  5. Hello I have an old test rig (hydraulic cylinder applies pressure to a crank in sawtooth pattern) project written in gx developer for the Q03 plc. To this plc is connected a 1041 beijer panel, I have uploaded the project to E-designer. I am rewriting the sequence code because a new but similar test is prepared. Have a PID-block in gx works 2 (not in a simple project sadly) i would like to import  and use in gx developer. This is causing me some trouble though.  Can anyone tell me how to get the PID-blocks from GX Works 2 to GX Developer? Do you recommend me to upgrade the project to GX Works 2 instead? How will the panel react? I need to reprogram this as well. Cheers // Rolf
  6. I have a program that I as building in SoMachine V4.3 and Vijeo Designer 6.2. Everything is coming together well at this point but I can't seem to figure out if I can put a poteniometer type object on the HMI using Vijeo Designer. This will be used to control the speeds of some VFD that are connected to the PLC. I have found ways to use a meter or simple numeric input it change the WORD that controls the drive speed. I would really like to use a knob or slider bar as I believe it would be a nice function. I've tried it on two different Magelis screens that I will be using for two different projects. One is a HMISCU8A5(controller and HMI in one unit) and the other is a HMIGTO3510.   Thank You
  7. I am using NB Designer for last one year without problems. But from last week i am getting new error Background PLC control recorder 0 error! while compiling and not able to update the HMI. Please help.
  8. Good morning all! I'm just getting into this world of controls and automation and need a way to simplify my life when it comes to discrete alarms. I do not care to separate them by tag so long as I can create a personalized for each bit/alarm triggered. What is the best way to list hundreds of alarms in a single tag? Can we make use of a struct data type? If so, what would this look like? I understand I can use something like a tag of data type word, such as "Faults" MW100 and then reference M101.0, M101.1... M100.0, M100.1 (notice the order), but this only allows me 16 total discretes per tag.  Sometimes I'll have more alarms than 16 and sometimes way less. I'd rather not seperate them in this manner if I can avoid it. Your assistance is much appreciated!   [edit] Siemens TIA and WinCC v15
  9. Hi all, 1. I'm working on alarms in FT view ME with rslogix 500. I have seen all the alarms in my plc program are kept in the N7:1 and N7:3 out of which all bits for N7:1 is used and 9 bits for N7:3 is used. So right now I'm creating the alarms messages for N7:1 I went and created tag with name ALARM1 digital bit and used the device address as ::[shortcut]N7:1/1 and then used the same alarm tag while creating alarms and kept trigger value as 1. But while reading some post, few of them has mentioned to use L16 L32 in address bit ::[shortcut]N7:1(L16) Can't I use this ::[shortcut]N7:1/1 ? 2. Basically I'm converting pv550 to pv700. So I went and check alarms in pv550 in panelview 32 and I have seen there we have use "ack tag" as N7:2. because in plc program it was mentioned in description of N7:2 as ALARM RESET ADDRESS ARRAY. DO I have to use this N7:2 in acknowledging the alarms. Please some one help me
  10. Hi guys,  I have been trying to sync up my RSLogix 5000 tag to GT Designer 3 (GTD3) objects but I noticed that GTD3 only recognize certain native data types from Allen Bradley Logix5572 Controller (Model 1756-L72).  In the documentation that I found, it show that certain AB Native Tags are transferable to GTD3 Data Type (See the attached file "AB Tags to GTD3 Tags" ) One of the User-Defined Data Type from the RSLogix 5000 that I am trying to sync to Text Display Object in GTD3 is called "UDT_MY_CLTR_INFO" here is it's hierarchy of inheritance from RSLogix 5000     Name                                                                     Force Mask                                                                                   Data Type MY_CLTR_INFO                                                     (...)                                                                                                 UDT_MY_CLTR_INFO      MY_CLTR_INFO.NAME                                                                                                                                           STRING           MY_CLTR_INFO.NAME.LENGTH                                                                                                                      DINT           MY_CLTR_INFO.NAME.DATA                                                                                                                           SINT[82]    In my exported tag which is a CSV file, it doesn't list the sub-classes MY_CLTR_INFO.NAME, MY_CLTR_INFO.NAME.LENGTH, and MY_CLTR_INFO.NAME.DATA, it would only list MY_CLTR_INFO.  How do I link up my "Text Display" Object in GTD3 with the tag "MY_CLTR_INFO.NAME" whose Data Type is STRING and GTD3 does not have a STRING Data Type?  I appreciate anyone that took their time to read my problem and any attempt to help me out. Thank you.
  11. NV-DESIGNER SIMULATION

  12. Hello, We've been having problems transferring a project (send or receive) in E-Designer. To give a bit of background... I work in IT and my end user used to have full admin access to his computer but we have recently had to remove he's rights and since then he hasn't been able to talk to the HMI. We know there's nothing wrong with the HMI or laptop (when full access is granted) as it work perfectly. I don't know much about E-Designer or the HMI\PLC's that our users connect to so I was hoping to gain a bit of knowledge here so I can work out what is going wrong. When the user tries to transfer a project the errors come up (See Attachment) please note that it works perfectly when full rights on the laptop are applied. Also, would any one know what exactly is happening in this process? I can see that E-Designer can see the HMI so there is a connection but clearly can communicate properly. Is it trying to download files somewhere the user doesn't have access to? is the OPCDriverConfig1.cfg info a clue? Thanks for your time!
  13. Hello guys, I need help. I have an OMRON PLC; CJ2M series which I am not very familiar with. I need to do comparisons, but I see that do that I can't just compare with a value. It looks to me that I have to store the value I need to use to compare in a memory address and reference to the memory address for my comparison.  Is it possible for me to compare using a value and not have to first go through a memory address? Is there a way to use the instruction to store the value in a memory location ? Or do I specifically have to use CX-Designer for me to wrote the value to a memory location? Thanks in advance.
  14. Hi PLC programmers, I got a problem regarding my installation of Logix Designer/Logix5K. Here's the situation... a) Initially installed Studio 5000 without problem. b) I needed to open a program from Logix v20.1, installed RSLogix5k v20.1. After installing v20.1, RSLogix was corrupted and won't open program. c) Reinstalled entire Logix Software. d) Was able to open and convert program from Logix5k v20.1 to Logix Designer v24 but this annoying error occured on v24 (See attached "EN2T")... "Failed to Create Module Profile". All of a sudden, the module (1756-EN2T) I created with working v24 is no longer usable. Now, even when I create a new project, add a module with "Select Module Type", the list of available modules has been trimmed down to what it normally has (see attached "AB_Modtype"). Kept on re-installing entire Logix 3 times, clearing the registry with CCleaner and even deleted installation folder for Rockwell software but the problem is never gone. I even downloaded AOP for EN2T and installed it but to no avail. Now I'm lost and dumbfounded that uninstalling and reinstalling isn't working. By the way the OS I'm using is "Windows 7 Enterprise". I appreciate all the help I could get. Thank you very much. Sincerely, Andrei K.
  15. Hello there, I've done some reading through GT Designer3 Version1 Screen Design Manual (Functions) and in chapter 30.3.6 - Program examples I've found functions used like: redraw_object(); d_circle(params); or acces of object params via script like my.active = 0; my.text_color = 0xE0;   So, my question is, does anyone of you have/know about documentation for this advanced stuff, it could be real game changer for me.   Thanks in advance for any reply

  18. How to Use Frozen Screen

I am working on a project with multiple screens, but all of them share the same logo pane at the very top. I don't want to add this panel for each screen. I would rather have the logo pane as a separate screen, and freeze it at the top of each screen. Is this possible?

  20. Hi,  I am writing some routines to decode the data from my Input: data array to User-defined Array Parameters. Is that possible to have a generic routine to decode data coming from more than one module? I have two Module ENode and ENode_1. I have defined User-Defined parameters for the module. Can I make a generic routine to decode the data coming from these two modules and put them in the defined arrays?  the two arrays ENodeData[0] and ENodeData[1] have the Generic User-Defined parameters.

  25. FX5U With E-terminal

I was looking for what drivers that should be used when connecting the new FX5U plc with the older E-1000 series (E1100 in this case) in e-designer 7. Intended connection method is ethernet on the FX5 (obviously) to Ethernet on the E-panel. I am sure this question will come up for several users so let's keep this thread as clean as possible. Has anyone done this Before? Here are the options available: /Niklas
