  1. Hello, My quest is to make a memory card, which I can just put into my PLC on the field and load all program and options etc to my plc. Now i found the official omron guide about it but its not good at all... For example is does not explain that how i need to transfer the H and D memory part to the plc, and that not all network settings are being copied if im not careful.   But my question is: is it possible to make this backup memory card without having the actual plc? Because the process is done in memory card window, which is only available if you are online. So basicly i have to get all the plc rack parts to make this work? I tried with the simulator but ofc it is not working.   Someone mentioned me that it is possible he heard from someone but no one actually knows how to. And there is nothing in the omron manual as i see.
  2. I have read that it is possible, in CXDesigner, to download the program from the computer onto a memory card, and then download from the memory card into the HMI terminal. Is a similar thing possible with CXProgrammer, and PLCs? It would be quite useful, for the purposes of updating the program on a customer PLC that is located overseas, when the customer does not own a laptop with CXProgrammer installed.
  3. I believe I have found a bug in FactoryTalk View ME version 8.10. I have a trend object that uses parameter file placeholders on the connections tab. These are direct-addressed to the shortcut ie {[PLC]...}. The historical data from the datalog does not show. (The pens write lines, but when I navigate away from the screen and come back, the lines are gone and begin drawing again from the right side.) The current data does show. This tells me that the placeholders are correct syntax. When the screen loads, the placeholders are being replaced by a string which yields a correct tag path, or else the pens would not be writing correct data. When I replace the placeholders manually and directly address the tag, the historical data does show correctly. This tells me that the datalog is set up correctly and is logging data. I have verified that a previous project of mine, using I believe version 6.0, successfully used this method of using one screen and one trend to plot various tags using parameter placeholders, and the historical data did show correctly.
  4. Is SOE card compatible with both quantum & premium plcs.?
  5. Hi I have problem to find eeprom bin or hex file to eeprom message memory on XBT-A72101. EEPROM is X28HC64P-12 and its dead complitly (before show message EEPROM FAULT, but after few restarts goes to runnig not now) . I have new empty eeprom and programmer but i don't have firmware file and can't read old memory beacouse not working.  Could be somebody help me with this file. Best Regards. Michal.
  6. I am needing some help developing a string, and setting up communications that will be interpreted by a printer. I have thus developed my string, setup my com ports on my 1766 micrologix and setup com ports on my schmidt styliner scribing printer with win7e. Essentially this is plc to computer running software for a printer. the software has been setup to the best of my knowledge. My problem is creating a string that will be recognized as start/stop transmission at the printer. I have never done ascii so I am unfamiliar with how to get the two components talking. This is a simple application that only requires writing a string to the printer, but i have tried all that i can without any luck.
  7. Hi guys, I recently was asked to configure a computer to host an Factory Talk SE Client application. I was able to get everything working except the trends and the Alarm window, all I have is the cross hatch screen. at the bottom of the screen it is saying cause: Trend: CAB file missing on the server: http://hmi1/RsviewActiveXControlSetup/RSTXView2ocx.CAB. I have worked on this for a while and am stumped. All the other computers on the same domain network are working fine, so it leads me to believe my problem is with my installation on the new computer. Any suggestions or if you need more input please let me know. Thanks
  8. .cin file question.

I'm fairly new to the world of automation so please excuse me if get my terms mixed up. I think I know the answer to this but its not quite clear in the manuals. I'm on a project that has about 9 CJ2H PLCs that we are doing a re-commisioning job. In each of the PLC files we have backup files and the program files. Some of the PLCs have .cin files for CX Integrator and some don't. Some of the files have routing tables as well. We are wondering if we are supposed to have a .cin file for each PLC and that this a must have file in order for the PLC to comunicate with other devices in the network? If each network is supposed to have one this means that we were not given those files from the original owners and then we need to create new ones. I'm thinking that its not a big deal and pretty easy to setup the network configuration. Anyone out there have any experience? Thanks
  9. Hello! I am creating a project with Logix Designer, version 24. In the project I am using 1734-AENTR/B devices in etherner/IP-bus. I find out that there is only old versions of Logix Designer, only Major version 3 and 4 but the device that I have is the version 5. So I downloaded this EDS-file from Rockwell support-pages and installed it with EDS HW tool. After this, I can not choose this device 1734-AENTR/B with Major version 5. How to get this installed version to the project? After installation I have reboot my programming device and there is not RS Linx running in my computer.
  10. Hi all, Currently running a Quantum 140-CPU-652-60 FW3.12 out to a remote rack over a Modbus Drop in to a 140-EHC-105-00 High Speed Counter, words are mapped OK to the program, configured at a type 7 setup (1sec frequency) etc. The card used to work when we were running the system as a ConceptXL 2.6 setup with a 140-CPU-534-14. We have just upgraded to UnityProXLv8 and it stopped. The mapping is configured by word to bit / bit to word across the %IW and %MW (previously 948 3x and 4x registers, but converted nicely, everything is aligning). Anyone stumbled across this issue before? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Rob
  11. Hi all and nice to meet you here! I hope that someone with experience helps me and I hope in future to offer also my help to someone. I am having problem with a Mitsubishi plc with A2N (S1) cpu installed on a machinery. The machinery stayed 20 days switched off and with battery empty as I realised when switched on and the problems come out. I changed the battery but the problem didnt resolved. The plc gave error with stable error led and flashing run led on the cpu. Also an error led stable on a (double role) module of printer and ram. I have to say that I have never used GX developer environment before and it is my first contact with Mitsubishi plcs. Reading some manuals (found on the internet) and by using GX developer I read from plc the faults. Register D9008 was set at 12 error meaning MISSING END INS. I Followed the described flow charts from a2n manual for reseting faults but the situation was the same always as described above. I tried to read the program from plc and succeded to read it. It is a lader with about 6000 lines. Anyway I have no previous experience of the GX development environment but I tried to put the missing END in the program as sugested also by the flow chart in the manual. At this point I have to say that it was automatically added from gx developer as I can remeber from an appeared message. I verified also many times the program on gx developer with the plc and the only difference was that missing END at the last line of ladder program. Anyway I tried to write back to plc the program with correct end but it was not possible. I tried several times. The error mesages took with Gx developer was the following : "THE SAME T/C COIL EXISTS IN PROGRAM (MAIN) AND/OR PROGRAM (MAIN-SFC). THE VALUES ARE SET TO BE THE SAME AS IN THE FIRST FOUND T/C COILFROM THE TOP OF PROGRAM" "THERE IS A DEVICE IN THE PROGRAM (MAIN) THAT IS OUTSIDE OF THE RANGE. CHECK THE PROGRAM AND CORRECT THE DEVICE THAT IS OUTSIDE THE RANGE." Anyway I decided to delete the plc memory. After that the run was stop blinking and the error led went off. Only the error on the printer-ram module was on (This module was changed with a know functioning one witout any variation on behaviour). I thought that problem has gone now that the cpu is empty. I tried again to write the program to the plc but again i take the above mentioned messages. Now I have an empty plc and a program on the Gx developer that cannot be written to plc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am desperate!!! I do not know how to proceed. I am not knowing the mitsubishi development environment. Other than Gx developer I tried to install the GX simulation but it not works to my computer. At this point I dont know even if the ladder program is somehow corrupted after the described above messages. I can sent the code (GX developer project) and any other information to someone expert, if necessary, to have an opinion. Please help!!! Let me know how to proceed!! I have to write back the code to plc !!!!! Thank you all in advance!! Now i realised that there is SFC that is my problem. Could someone help please? Big part of ladder is in yellow color. How can i proceed?
  12. I am trying to determine or find any figures that could assist in obtaining the lifespan of a single output of a 1756-OB16E output card. I have a signal sending 400 pulses a minute to an output. I am starting think about when this card or output may need to be replaced before failure. I was given a MTBF range by Rockwell for the card itself but they could not expand on the likelyhood of the output failing exponentially due to the rapid signalling. I could also not find anything in the manual itself that could provide me with an idea of longevity, I could be missing it? Also with this project I experienced something odd with the originally scoped hardware, a solid state 24VDC relay (700-HLS1.) By measuring the resistance I was able to see that the relay should have been opening and closing but the signal was not being received. So, I swapped the solid state relay for a mechanical relay and it worked fine. I was curious if the leakage could have an effect on this. The problem with the mechanical relay is that the life is dramatically reduced to about a month for this installation, life for the relay is shown at about 10,000,000 actuations. I was hoping to have this working with a little longer life expectancy. If anyone has any experience / tips / or suggestions it would be much appreciated! PG
  13. Good morning, I'm having an odd issue with CX Programmer and have hit a wall. I'm trying to upload a previous version of a program to an existing PLC (CS1G-H CPU42) and I keep getting the following error when I compile while online: "The read protection properties which are not supported by the connecting target PLC are set. Check the unit version of the PLC." This prevents the program from being uploaded. I have a first revision CS1, manufacture in 2005 from what I can tell. This exact program has been uploaded previously, but a modified version replaced it recently and I need to go back to the older version. Things I have tried so far. without success: - Removed UM Protection - Made sure Task protection is off for all tasks - Check DIP Switch #1, which is write protection, and made sure it is off - Used "Remove Password" and "Release access" functions from the PLC/Protection menu - Used the auto-verification to confirm the configured PLC is correct - Reuploaded a full backup of H & D memory, from the older program I am able to compile the program when offline, but it chokes when online. I am connecting to the PLC via a serial cable. I haven't found any help from the CX Programmer help, or the CS1 programming and operation manual. This error message is nowhere to be found. Anyone has a clue ? I'm at a loss right now. Thank you !
  14. Hello All, I want to read data from a Control Logix PLC, into a PLC5/60, using Ethernet and a MSG instruction in the PLC5. When verifying the MSG instruction in the PLC5, I get an error message. "Target Address in invalid". Once I figure out how to do this I need to replicate it in another PLC5. Scope is to read the status of 4 paint pumps controlled by the CLX. If any of the 4 stop, the PLC5 needs to know, because it is controlling the paint application equipment. Source data resides in a Control Logix 1756-L63. The tag is INT type, 4 elements long, and the name is PUMP_STS_B2. The IP address of the CLX is 4.2.6.230. There are 2 ENBT cards, one in slot 1, and the other in slot 3. 4.2.6.230 is slot 3. PLC2,5 / SLC Mapping has been created in the CLX. File=421 Name PUMP_STS_B1 and File=422 Name Pump_STS_B2. The file mappings represent a binary file created in each of the PLC5's B421:0~4 in Booth 1, and B422:0~4 in Booth 2. The PLC5/60 is Enhanced series E model using the Ethernet side card. The IP address of the PLC5 is 3.26.5.61. I also created MG file types in each of the PLC5/60. MG420:0~19 in each processor. This was necessary to use the MSG instruction in the PLC5. I have searched the forums for examples of how to do this with no solid results. I am trying to follow the best practices of reading the data into my PLC so anyone who follows can tell where it is coming from. While the IP addresses are not closely related they should be able to communicate. I say this because all of our PC's are on the 4.2.6.XXX network on a 255.255.252.0 sub net and we have no issue communicating with the 3.26.5.61 IP address. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Mike Carter
