  1. Hello. What is the best option using TCP/UDP communication to use CP1L-EM40 as SLAVE / IO Expansion? For MASTER I’m using CJ2M-CPU31. Since now I’ve used FINS _CPU010_SendData and _CPU011_ReceiveData function blocks. The problem is, that I’m communicating with 6 slave IO units and to read/write all 6 units it takes up to 1 – 2 seconds. I’ve tried Ethernet/IP protocol but CP1L units doesn’t support this protocol. Is there some kind of different TCP/UDP protocol which is faster than FINS?  In older days you could use PC Link but this protocol is for RS232 / RS485 comm. I know I could use CP1W-EIP61 but I don't have this adapter and I can't afford to buy one Thanks.
  2. CJ2M PING FB

Hello. Is there some kind of FUNCTION BLOCK to PING IP Device? Thanks. BR, Andrej.
  3. I currently have two NX1P2 PLCs communicating back and forth over ethernet IP. However, I am looking to expand this project across multiple PLCs and I need a way for one PLC to see all other PLCs that are connected to the LAN network via Ethernet IP. I can use the _EIP_EstbTargetSta[255] function which is a boolean value that returns true if there is an established connection  to a device where the last octet of the IP is specified in the array [255].  This function works well but my PLCs are configured with the subnet 255.255.0.0. And I need to see the connection status based on the third octet. Is there an existing function that I can use, or is there a way to view the full structured text for the _EIP_EstbTargetSta[255] function and modify it to suite my specific application?
  4. Hello Everyone, I have a Omron CJ2M PLC, and I have configured the Ethernet/IP port of this PLC to communicate over ethernet connection. I want to read/write the DM, HR memory areas of Omron PLC (CJ2M) using eip protocol communication. Is there any protocol specification which explains the telegram structure to be sent over ethernet to be able to read/write the values in omron plc over EIP? I want to know the command structure which can be sent to PLC and PLC will respond with the proper response.
  5. I have a ne1a safety plc I am trying to get online with. I have Network configurator V3.74. I have installed the usb driver and it is connecting to the device. When it shows the network to connect to I click on it and get an error that says: File load was failed. The specified file is protected by user password. In order to use this file, you need to install the Network Configurator for CIP safety,  Anyone know of this software or upgrade? I didn't find it on the omron software listing.
  6. Netbiter read from CJ2M

I see on the forum there are a couple of mentions of netbiter and they seem positive, ive just got one and do not understand how the messaging works. I have tried creating a template just to read D0, i believe i have setup all my IP settings correctly but i am not certain, they are on the same address range for sure. If anyone has used this before and could point me in the right direction that would be great
  7. Hi all, I recently found out that you can turn on this option to allow the keyboard on your PC/laptop to enter values for data entry fields on the GT Simulator3 (screenshot attached).  I realize there are many people on this forum that probably already know about this but in case there is anyone out there that didn't already know...I hope you find this useful. This is a big deal to me because I like to thoroughly test my PLC code and HMIs/GOTs and now having to create screens with many entry-fields, being able to use the keyboard instead of dragging the mouse over the screen click here, click there just to enter values saves a lot of time and tedium. I wish someone had shown me this 12 months ago.
  8. I'm trying to exchange some data between two controllers. I've used a manual which describes Tag Datalink communication. Everything works fine on the Bradley side, which means I can read values from Omron without problems. However, on the CJ it isn't working. In the Network Configurator I get error every 10 sec (Tag data ling error, code 03D5) and cannot read any data from AB. When I open Connection Structure Tree I see that the input tagset from AB has 'Broken path (0000000000000)' and Unknown Device right next to IP address. I've tried using EDS from the Rockwell as well as uploading it from AB PLC directly - I don't know if it might be EDS issue. The only thing I noticed that inside CJ2M-EIP21 EDS it says that Ethernet/IP is Class 1 connection, however in the 1769-L35E EDS Ethernet/IP is Class 2 connection. Have anyone ever had such a problem?
  9. OMRON CJ1W-ETN21 Node Number

Hello. I'm having CJ1M unit with ETN21 card on remote site. I can't drive to the site and look at the rotary switches to determine what is the units NODE NUMBER. I can connect to the PLC remotely using CX-Programmer. Is it possible to read the setting of NODE NUMBER remotely? Is this NODE NUMBER settings saved somewhere in CIO or DM area? Thanks. BR, Andrej.
  10. Hello fellow tinkerers, Inside our company we're expanding our IoT network with the replacement of CJ1G-H to CJ2M CPU units. When swapping models we are downloading the Datamemories back into the CPU. Our engineer warned us to not download all the DM memories: only up to D20000, so I did. When starting we had some inputs that weren't showing in the Data trace: and noticed that it were pulses shorter than 8ms. We found out the "Unit settings" were back to default and this is not unusual since we only downloaded range D0-D20000 but I'd like to avoid this in the future and look up what each datamemory means. I know D30000 to D31599 are the memories for the CPU bus unit settings (manual W473 section 4-5) but what range is the "unit settings" within these 1600 datamemories? I can't seem to find it in any manual I look into (W473, W472).. Also do you see any problems with downloading the full datamemory range?   Kind regards!
  11. Change Subnet On CP1L PLC

I am trying to change the subnet of this CP1L plc. Currently it is at 192.168.250.*** and I would like to change it to 192.168.54.***. I already tried starting fresh by writing to the controller with ip 0.0.0.0 and then putting my desired ip address after. When I try to write to the controller with a subnet other than .250 for example 192.168.54.13, the controller saves the node address(.13) but keeps the same .250 subnet which results in me being able to ping 192.168.250.13 successfully but get no response from pinging 192.168.54.13. Yes I did change my local network card when pinging different subnets and also did a network reset in CX-P after every ip change. Let me know if there is anything I am missing!!
  12. Send and Recv function

Hi, I'm trying  to use send and receive function. I have to send 2 words from cpu CJ2M CPU33  to CJ1M CPU13. I use enthernet network.  I saw a strange thing  that if I just use send function  then my data goes to second  plc without  having  a receive function.  Its that right? I didn't  mentioned  wich port because  I'm not sure wich  is. I left for automatic allocation.
  13. Hi,I am running a Windows 10 VM with Rockwell Studio 5000 on a Windows 10 host PC. I communicate to the PLC network through a USB-C to ethernet adapter. Occasionally, the communications drop out, if this happens the only way I can re-establish comms, is to shutdown the VM and restore defaults in the virtual network editor, as this can happens a few times each day, it can be very frustrating. When this happens I cannot ping the host either, until the defaults are restored and the VM re-started.I am using the bridged connection in the VM.Can anyone help with this?Thank you
  14. Currently have a A1SJ71E71-B2-S3 in the system for coaxial (thin) ethernet (10BASE-2), it's connected to a conversion module for TP-cable and from that then to a PC with plain TP network card.  I was thinking about getting an A1SJ71E71N3-T to replace it and that way get rid of the converter from coax to TP. I wonder if it's possible to just have it hooked directly to the computer without hub - if I need a hub there's really no point in swapping - as there's still another thing between the computer and the PLC system that can cause problems. I was looking through the manual at mitsubiSIH.com and they seem to think they are connected to large nets with a bunch of hubs, PLC systems and computers. Appreciate thoughts and help.
  15. Hi, First of all, thanks in advance for those who support and advises. I have a Modbus/TCP operational network as shown below. However, at any 1 time only 1 LAN is able to communicate instead of both LAN networks of the device. In another system with S.E Premium Unity PLC, both LAN networks are able to communicate at the same time. Thus, I would like to enquire if this is a limitation of Quantum NOE 771 whereby only 1 LAN can communicate at any one time or whether I have missed out any parameter/configuration settings? Any issue on the IP address configurations? Please advise. Thank you very much for the advise and assistance.
  16. G9SP Configurator

I am at a client site that has a line with multiple Omron G9SP-N20S safety controllers installed and I need to make a modification to the system.  I tried to install the Omron Configurator and it asks for a serial number, and will not install without one.  Omron said that it is on the CD that ships with the unit, but the equipment manufacturer did not supply any of the CDs.  The only Omron solution is to order a replacement CD, that will take 5 days, which is 5 days too long as there is a hard stop in 2 days.  I have tried entering numbers found on the controller, with no success.  Does anyone have a better way, special contacts at Omron, to et it faster?
  17. I'm working on a program where I manipulate REAL numbers in Sysmac studio using an NX1029020 PLC. My problem is I am new to automation and I don´t know how to display those numbers when connecting to an NB HMI. I´m trying to send the data to a bar picture and a number display. My question is which AT Specification Attribute should I assign to my variables in Sysmac Studio and their corresponding Area in NB-Designer? I tried using the DM area but it didn't show numbers on the displays, only shows *****. Should I convert my real variables in Sysmac first? Or how can I keep decimal numbers and then display them? My current configuration in Sysmac: Name Data type AT Network publish ST1 REAL %D5 Publish Only ST2 REAL %D3 Publish Only My current configuration in NB-Designer Bar Picture Addr. Type D Address 3 Code type BIN Number Display Addr. Type D Address 3 Code type BIN Data type Float Integer 4 Decimal 2

  19. Symbol transfer when editing online

Hi everyone, I am having a problem with a CJ2M-CPU33: when finishing the online edits, it never asks me to store the changed symbols and/or program comments, so they are not updated in the PLC memory and cannot be uploaded later. First time this thing happened to me, I am connecting to dozens of CJ in this factory and it's the first time I've encountered this problems in 16 years.
  20. Help with LAN network

I am trying to set up a brand new network of PLCs and GOTs in a classroom. Something I haven’t ever done before.  I’m using simple Ethernet and going from a pc to a switch then the switch to each device.  I can not get anything to communicate to each other.  I can read from one GOT or one PLC but that’s it.  Any help would be appreciated, thank you!
  21. Need a little help

I am probably over looking something simple but I am stuck. I need to count how many containers come down a conveyor and display it in Indusoft Web Studio 2020. I am using a CJ2M to count from a sensor doing an binary incremental long word (++L) Using long word as the count will need to go into the thousands. (not 100% if this is the correct way). My problem is after 99 the value sent to indusoft is not a number but letters or signs. I am sure their is a simple solution but I have given my self a headache and need a little guidance please.
  22. cj2m

hi i am wrting an essay about my final project , i created a scada for omron plc (CJ2M) in factory . ( i am a computer data student )  the thing is , i can't find a good and an easy  documentation ( not the CJ2M datasheet ) to talk about the CJ2M component (port and stuff like that) any help please ?
  23. I am trying to set up a ifm AL1322 EtherNet/IP IO Link Master to communicate with a NX1P2 or CS1 PLC. When using Network Configurator I have added the EDS file and added the AL1322 to the network and set its IP address.  It shows all the parameters in the device but if you make a change it says it has downloaded but nothing on the unit changes.  If you make a change to a parameter and then verify it says there are no difference even though there are.  I have set up the communication with the PLC but there is an error  Establishing a tag data link connection failed. This is the same for both the CS1 and NX1P2. I have also tried setting it up using Sysmacstudio for the NX1P2 and get the same result.   I have had the unit back to ifm and there is no issue with it running with an AB PLC.  I can also communicate with the unit using the ifm LR software. Any ideas why the Omron software is unable to read from or write to the unit? ifm_IOL_Master_AL1322.eds
  24. CJ2M - FC280 Danfoss Ethernet IP

Hello!!! Can somebody explain me how to communicate by ethernet IP between a CJ2M and a FC280? Thank you in advance!!!
  25. Hi, I'm currently in a project where I'm putting up together a network where a CJ2M-CPU33 is reading the memory of 4 G9SP safety controller and communicating with an unchosen HMI. Since I'm new to Omron communications, I've decided to set up a network composed of only 1 CJ2M-CPU33 and 1 CJ2M-CPU31, both equiped with built-in EIP21 port, to help me understand the FINC protocol used to Read/Write and other commands from one PLC to another. I'm currently trying to use the CMND(490) function in the CJ2M-CPU33 to attempt and read part of the D memory in the CJ2M-CPU31 without success. I've tried many ways of sending the Hexa code to the PLC I'm trying to read the memory from but always come up with a 0401 end code (Service unsupported: Undefined command) or nothing at all when my Hexa code is really messed up. It's also good to know that the informatician of the company has succesfully read from the memory area but with his computer. I have provided with this topic an overview of my setup, settings and program in the PLC that is performing the CMND(490) function. I'd also like and take this opportunity to say that I really don't understand the settings in the FINS/UDP and FINS/TCP menu and when and how the PLC is using these protocols even if I've read tons documents on the FINS protocol. I find that that Omron's doc is complete but kinda lacks of setting and program examples. FINS_Problem_description.docx
