  1. Hello, My quest is to make a memory card, which I can just put into my PLC on the field and load all program and options etc to my plc. Now i found the official omron guide about it but its not good at all... For example is does not explain that how i need to transfer the H and D memory part to the plc, and that not all network settings are being copied if im not careful.   But my question is: is it possible to make this backup memory card without having the actual plc? Because the process is done in memory card window, which is only available if you are online. So basicly i have to get all the plc rack parts to make this work? I tried with the simulator but ofc it is not working.   Someone mentioned me that it is possible he heard from someone but no one actually knows how to. And there is nothing in the omron manual as i see.
  2. Hi All I am new here without much experience of plcs. I have a PV 550 with DH485 coms port that I want to replace another PV550 with rs232 that communicated with an SLC 5/04. Is there some way to connect the two with a cable or protocol connector? Alternatively can you connect through the printer port on a PV600? CHeers   Azza
  3. Addressing I/O

Hello Guys and Girls, I am new to Omron and I am just setting up a new project. I have populated my rack in the (I/O Unit And Table Setup) but how do I address the physical inputs and outputs?  I started to populate the symbols area but when the inputs I had typed in 3.0 - 3.15 (16 inputs) It wouldnt let me populate the other 16 inputs (3.16 - 3.31) of the 32 input card?  What am I doing wrong? any help will be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance. MrEngineer

  7. I have a Micrologix 1400 and one PC which sends 102 Characters in RS-232. I need to read all characters with Micrologix 1400, Is there any way to read all characters? I know the limit of ARL and ARD instruction is 82 characters. I do not know if two ARD instructions could read all characters. Do you have any experienced like that? Could you help me? Thank you in advance
  8. It's another BOOTP post! I know you're all as excited as I am, so lets get started. But seriously, I'm trying to disable BOOTP on the built in Ethernet ports, not on an Ethernet module. I specifically say disable because BOOTP successfully assigns the IP address to my Compact Logix, however I still need to disable BOOTP to make it a static IP address rather than a dynamic IP address. I'm going to list everything that I have tried, so that anyone with the same issue can have an all-in-one-place reference. (Because there's a number of forum posts and other information for this topic on the internet, with many different suggestions) If I see different ideas/suggestions in other places, I can edit them into this post. Things I have tried: (and you should try if you have this issue) Disabling all firewalls, (For me: Windows/Avast) Disabling all other network adaptors. (Wifi especially, but any and all adaptors you are not using for the setup) Using a different laptop/operating system: (My current laptop runs windows 8.1 and uses a Linksys usb to Ethernet device to talk to the PLC, I tried a laptop running windows 7 which communicated using a built in Ethernet port) Lastly: Try to use all available methods to disable it. For me, that would be: BOOTP standalone server, RSLinx, (Trying to use both USB and Ethernet connections) and finally RSLogix. (Actually, only Ethernet modules have a "disable BOOTP" checkbox built into RSLogix, so that is not an option for me.) [If you have an Ethernet module, go to port configuration in RSLogix and uncheck the "enable BOOTP" checkbox] Anyway, RSLinx Classic (version 3.71) and BOOTP Standalone server (version 2.32) are each coming back with an error when I try to disable BOOTP. I'll attach a .jpg of some screenshots, and some Wireshark save files to show what I mean. In the RSLinx Wireshark file, it shows a "privilege violation" packet being sent from the PLC to the laptop towards the end of the exchange, but I'm not sure what privileges the laptop needs/doesn't have. For the wireshark files: I cleared everything happening before I try to send the command, so that there isn't a ton to search through. As far as timing of the wireshark files go: I start recording traffic, send the disable command (by clicking the disable BOOTP/DHCP button on BOOTP server or "apply" on RSLinx) then I stop recording traffic once I get the error message. So, the captured packets should be just the attempt to disable BOOTP and that's about it. I am sorry that I the pictures are strung together using paint, but I don't have photoshop on my work computer so it's the best I have. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated! (Regardless of whether they are suggestions for me, or suggestions that I may have missed intended for anyone with this problem.) Thank you for your time. Edit: I had the attached pictures open in paint/photo viewer, sorry that they look bad in the forum picture viewer. BOOTP_wireshark.pcapng rs_linx_USB_wireshark.pcapng rs_linx_wireshark.pcapng
  9. I have an application I am currently working on where I have a single AB ControlLogix PLC that needs to read data from 12+ Omron CJ2M PLCs.  The Omron PLCs don't need to read any data from the AB.   I have tried several things including the generic .eds file from Omron and the instructions in the document I found on this site:  Omron CJ2 to Rockwell ControlLogix Ethernet/IP Datalink.  The generic .eds file gave me a D6 error on the Omron side and after talking to support it does not seem like the correct path.   When I tried following the instructions for the datalink I ran into several issues.  The first issue was that after configuring my network in the Omron software upon trying to load it I got a unit mismatch message for the 1756-EN2T, the .eds file I have is for a 1765-EN2T but the card shows as a 1756-EN2T/D, so I am concerned that could cause an issue...that being said I can't find any .eds file specifically for the /D revision.  The next thing I noticed was that there doesn't seem to be be a way to link the produced data from the Omron to the AB, the Omron configuration software with the AB .eds files loaded only gave me the option to send data to the Omron which we do not need to do.  I created a generic Ethernet module in my RSLogix program for the Omron PLC and then created a consumed tag and linked that to the module but I do not see where I set up the link on the Omron side for that, so how does it know what addresses to read?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thank you!

  19. Hello, I am trying to connect an OMRON CMP1-30CDR-A-V1 to my PC. I used a CQM1-CIF02 cable which I connected to RS232-USB converter and then to my laptop. Is this the right way to do it? I have seen on the OMRON website the attached diagram. Should we use that device or an RS232-USB converter will be enough? Also. I tired to use a PC with RS232 port directly but it also failed. Regards,
  20. I need some help and advice communicating between an Omron PLC and a Keyence KV-5500. My system typically uses an Omron CJ2M-CPU34 which comes equipped with the built in Ethernet IP port.  My customer is insisting that we change the CPU in our system to a CJ2H-CPU66-EIP in order to communicate with the Keyence KV-5500.  They have not been able to detail why their communications require the CJ2H, they just say they will be using Ethernet TAG communication and for this they need us to change the CPU. Has anyone successfully established communicated between the Omron PLCs and the Keyence?  If so how did you do it and which CPU did you use?  Is there an .eds file available for the Keyence CPU? Please help!!! They will be visiting from halfway around the globe to test communications in January so I want to be prepared!
  21. Sending Ascii from PLC

I have an omron cp1le plc and a sato s84ex printer I need to learn how to send print jobs to it. I know I can use the Serial card option and send the code to the printer over RS232. I am using the NiceLabel software and printing to file which extracts the SBL code. That is where I am stuck. What part of the code do I use and where do I put it in the CX-Programmer. And what instructions should I be learning to send Ascii to the printer. I am very new at all this and just want a few hinters and direction. Thanks.
  22. Hi, I am working on the following setup: External server connecting to PLC system via QJ71E71-100 Ethernet module and using MC protocolConnection via LAN cable (straight-though) between external server and QJ71E71-100 Ethernet moduleGoal is to pull data from PLC system via the use of MC protocol + 4E frame + ASCII data code + batch read Word units (via 0401 command, which is part of MC protocol)External server will act as TCP client, while QJ71E71-100 Ethernet module should act as TCP serverThe external server is using custom software (programmed in Python) to query/process response. At this moment I can 1) "ping" the QJ71E71-100 Ethernet module successfully, 2) connect to it via TCP socket and 3) send data via TCP socket. All is working well so far BUT I am not getting any data back from QJ71E71-100 Ethernet module. My setting are as follows: IP address of external server = 192.168.1.203 (it binds the socket to port 1500 of this external server when initiating communication). The external server will always initiate communication to query data whenever needed, FYI. IP address of QJ71E71-100 Ethernet module = 192.168.1.254, and it connects to port = 1500The Ethernet diagnostic tool indicates that my TCP packets are being received ("Total Number of Receives" increase every time data is sent), and that TCP response packets are being sent (increases in tandem with "Total Number of Receives" (apologies for poor picture quality): Would someone in the forum have experienced a similar issue (meaning that you could connect + send data from external server, but no data was getting sent back from QJ71E71-100 Ethernet module to external server? Are there some obvious mistakes in the configurations to the experienced eyes in this forum? For your information I am not using any gateway for the connection: it's a straight-through LAN cable from the external server directly into the QJ71E71-100 Ethernet module. Would such a setup work out of the box, or do I need to configure "Router Relay" or "Station No <-> IP information" within GX developer? Lastly I have not configured FTP, email or Interrupt settings, FYI. Thank you for your help, feel lost with this TCP connection issue. Regards to all forum readers! PS: find attached the pictures detailing configuration settings for both QJ71E71-100 Ethernet module and external server.
  23. Hello, recently I tried to hook up a new CJ2M-CPU31 (built-in EIP Port) with a NS10-TV01-V2, which has an Ethernet/IP connection also. I made the simple setting as usual : 1. PLC, IP Address 192.168.250.1, Sub 255.255.255.0, FINS Node 1, no change to FINS/UDP parameter (Auto Dynamic Generation) 2. HMI, IP Address 192.168.250.2, Sub 255.255.255.0, FINS Node 2, Register the Host as EIP, SYSMAC-CJ2 mode with the PLC IP, Disables the Serial Port For some reason, there is no communication between NS and CJ2M (timeout error always occurs). I tried to re-register the Host as FINS, set the Node to 1, and also with no avail. I did try to connect the NS to a CP1L-EM with FINS Comm. and it works fine. Anything I did miss? Thanks in advance
  24. CJ2M serial communication

Hi! I'm trying to connect Omron plc CJ2M cpu11 (photo below) with Weintek touch panel. I've made proper cable, and I'm trying to establish communication between these two devices. I've wrote a script in Weintek's program, that sends and receives via serial port, rs232. Also, I've used example for serial communication in CX-Programmer, that you can see in attached files. I'm trying only to toggle one W adress using hmi. That sounds simple, but still, I'm not able to make plc and hmi to talk with each other. What I'm doing wrong?
  25. CJ2M CPU32 SERIAL COMMUNICATION ISSUE

Hi, I am having an issue with Omron CJ2m Cpu32 serial communication. I'm not receiving the data from pc to plc. sometimes during the production. When I recycle the power its working fine. Is there any Flag to reset the Serial port and clear the buffer on Cj2m VPU32. I contacted tech support and they told me to use A526.00n to clear the port. But I think A528.00 is not for CJ2m cpu32. I'm new to Omron programming and serial communication any reply or response would be helpful. thanks in advance.
