IoT plan for alarm system notifications using SMS
LuisGonzalez posted a topic in HMI & SCADAI have an inquiry about the best IoT plan for an alarm system that sends SMS notifications. Our company is currently deploying an alarm system, and we would like to configure it to send SMS notifications to at least 10 cell phones in case of any incidents. We are planning to use a cellular modem connected to the main server, which would have a SIM card from AT&T. However, we are not sure which IoT plan to select for this purpose. Based on our requirements, we would like to receive SMS notifications for any incidents that occur on our alarm system. We estimate that we would send around 100 SMS messages daily, with an average message size of 160 bytes. We would also need to ensure that the data usage for SMS messages is kept to a minimum. Has anybody worked with an AT&T plan that allows sending and receive SMS's for alarm notifications?
Cx-Supervisor Activex object issue
robror_ posted a topic in CX-SupervisorHi there! I'm dealing with some ActiveX object issues in a CX-Supervisor SCADA project. The thing is that the computer where the runtime was running failed and was replaced. The project used a couple of dropdown list objects that worked in the older PC, but now everytime it access or calls the ActiveX object in some way, an error saying the object couldn't be found appears in the error register and the runtime stops working. I've been reading about Activex and Cx-Supervisor and I tried installing NI Measurement Studio, as it appears to be the software related to the objects in the project, but this didn't fix it. I see in the 'Csutomize Toolbox' window near activex objects, that there are plenty of options to choose, but I got no information about this window online. So my question here is: is there any 'standard' ActiveX object type that works on any PC, or am I missing something? Thanks in advance!

CITECT OMFINS3 Serial

Hi All, Has anyone had the experience of connecting two Fernhill Scada units using an OPC UA? I am intending to use Fernhill Scada on my Master PLC to read tags from my Slave PLC's Fernhill Scada. Then, displaying local tags (Master PLC, "Fernhill SCADA Unit 1") and read/scanned tags from the Slave PLC, "Fernhill SCADA Unit 2". In the meantime, I am trying to use both of my Fernhill SCADA units interact with each other (one unit to read tags from the other unit) by using Internal Digital Tag on the Fernhill SCADAs. Any help would be appreciated.

AB MicroLogix 1200/1400 to GE MDS 9710/9810 Radio Communication
xunilbama posted a topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell AutomationGood Morning, My name is Joseph Rhodes, I work as an electronic technician for the City of Tuscaloosa at the wastewater treatment plant. I work to keep the plant up and running as well as 64 lift stations spread out around Tuscaloosa, Alabama. A majority of our lift stations utilize Verizon Cell Modems, RV50s to be exact. It's rather easy connecting remotely to these lift stations as I can configure a driver as an ethernet / ip driver then associate an IP of that lift station (ex. 10.181.3.104 is lift station 104, 10.181.3.105 is lift station 105, etc). However, for the lift stations that do not utilize cell modems. We use GE MDS 9710 and 9810 radios. It is these lift stations that I have yet to figure out a way to connect remotely to the LS RTU PLC. All of our lift stations use Allen Bradley MicroLogix 1200s or 1400s. These lift stations that use the MDS radios communicate information to water tanks then that information is sent back through other channels. I was wondering is there a way to associate these lift stations on RSLinx that use GE MDS radios ?
[Discussion] Do you think a framework for building and implementing a (simple) SCADA is needed?
zenithie posted a topic in HMI & SCADAI hear a lot of people talking about the annoyance of price estimates (meaning they don't get a clear, transparent price from the beginning) and the costly engineering that seems to never end. Do you think that a step-by-step, clear process and course of action from A to Z would be beneficial for companies? And I'm not talking here about SCADA software, like Ignition. I'm talking about using Ignition to build and implement a fully working SCADA solution, customized to your company BUT you know exactly the price and the methods/processes that will be used (it's a replicable framework to get similar results for multiple companies - and the results would be a SCADA solution without the headaches of the unknown prices and engineering characteristics). Basically, a clear project-based approach rather than an hourly approach where things can get confusing. Do you think the industrial space could use something like that?
How to create a trend - from a database-table in Citect Scada (v7.40)
rajsiyer posted a topic in HMI & SCADAHi friends, The scene is like this... I have some 200 energy meters whose readings are continuously logged at 15-min intervals into a logging table. The meter does not have any other value logged. Let's consider these readings as analog tags. However these tag values are continuously increasing to ever larger numbers. Thus we have a problem for display on trends. Customer now requires that the Citect shows usage trends for any meter for a specified period of the past. That is to say, the meter that he wishes to observe is selected - along with a period typically between 2 dates (perhaps also with a sampling period) - and the trend must appear. So in other words, given a single trend object, how do you make values appear for any selected tag on this trend. Perhaps this can be overcome by some genie/super-genie mechanism. My approach to this is...For the selected meter, I use SQL to query the 15 minute logged values (also taking into account the required sampling period) taking the reading on starting date as initial. All values thereafter are subtracted -within the SQL query- and the result of this query is kept in a 2 dimensional array(x for time, Y for value) or a new database table so that the trend displays values starting with zero. This much I can do with Cicode. After this, I need a method to display the values so obtained in a trend object. Essentially this is the same as feeding a trend object with a set of X & Y values that I have in the form of an array or in a database table. I shall greatly appreciate any help to meet the above objective. Thanks for looking in. With best wishes.
Citect Scada report according to time
Mehakk posted a topic in Modicon / Telemecanique / Schneider ElectricHello Everyone, I am working on reports in Vijeo Citect V7.40. I want to generate a report whenever I press the button. I am able to generate it according to date like making a Cicode file and adding the form, whenever I press the button form will open to give me the option to select the date. Similarly, I am trying to make a form for a time also. Can someone guide me on how to do this? STRING sdate,edate,Em,D,M,Y; D = DateDay(TimeCurrent()); M = DateMonth(TimeCurrent()); Y = DateYear(TimeCurrent(),1); sdate= "Start Date"; edate= "End Date"; INT hChannel_M; FormNew("Select Report date..",38,2,16); FormInput(20,0,"DD-MM-YYYY Format",Em,20); D = DateDay(TimeCurrent()); M = DateMonth(TimeCurrent()); Y = DateYear(TimeCurrent(),1); FormComboBox(2 ,0, 15, 6, sDate, 1); FormAddList(D + "-" + M + "-" + Y); FormButton(8 ,1 ,"Select",0, 1); FormButton(16 ,1 ,"Cancel",0, 2); FormRead(0); STRING START_DATE_TIME D = DateDay(StrToDate(sdate)); //DateAdd Will convert only when the date is in System Date Format M = DateMonth(StrToDate(sdate)); Y = DateYear(StrToDate(sdate),1); START_DATE_TIME = Y + "-" + M + "-" + D; STRING END_DATE_TIME D = DateDay(DateAdd(StrToDate(sdate),86400)); //DateAdd Will convert only when the date is in System Date Format M = DateMonth(DateAdd(StrToDate(sdate),86400)); Y = DateYear(DateAdd(StrToDate(sdate),86400),1); END_DATE_TIME = Y + "-" + M + "-" + D; VbCallRun(VbCallOpen("GetRep", START_DATE_TIME, END_DATE_TIME)); This is my code for date selection.
Scada/ Site management
Plc_Mitsu posted a topic in MitsubishiHi, I have basic experience with PLCs but have a degree in electrical engineering. I have landed a job which requires me to advance my plc knowledge. I am based within the UK and need some advice on how to go about a solution to a problem. The site I am doing this for needs a site managment system. The site is within food production, this would be monitoring of mostly trips and faults within a wide range of industrial equipment (Pumps, compressors, fridges). The site is mostly Mitsubishi and would like one centralised portal within the workshop to view all of the equipment availability. Thank you.

Citect Scada Modent Bit Read
hmwright posted a topic in HMI & SCADAHi team; I am struggling with a Citect SCADA read of some data. The system is using the "Modnet3" driver over TCP/IP to talk with a system (Modnet 3 as its TCP/IP with first register at 0 and 0 to 15 bits). I am reading the modbus data into variables which is working fine for the analogue values all defined as real in citect. The Issue I have is that the driver help says I can direct reference a bit in a word, in my case address 45052.1 Holding register 45052 and Bit 1. If I read this as a UINT I get a value of 147 corresponding to bits 1,2,5 and 8. Citect generates no errors for the tag setup where I define 45052.0 through 45052.15 but all remain as zero in tag lists. Any help would be fantastic Kindest Regards Howard
SCADA (Oil Pipeline) Support Needed.

Citect Modbus communication works only when page is open/active
mAcman posted a topic in HMI & SCADAHi every one. I have strange problem with Modbus communication in Citect 2018. I am communicating to the site switches through Modbus TCP protocol using MODNET driver and reading its sates. I am reading data from Input registers (registers addresses starts from 3x). In default, MODNET driver initializes communication trying conecting to holding register 40001 so I changed initialization in citect.ini to address 30001 because driver didn't want to establish connection because switches don't support holding registers. Now, connection to switches is working but only when page is open where I showing data from them. When I change the page, Citect loses communication and inform this showing alarm on HW alarm page. When I again open page where I show read data, communication back again. Where could be a problem? I will mention that I have more different Modbus TCP devices in project configured and with them don't have such problem. The only difference is that I am reading from holding registers and initialize parameter in citect.ini is not defined for them as for switches.
FX2N-20MR chinese semi-clon of a Mitsubishi PLC and SCADA
lwmar posted a topic in MitsubishiDear all, I have a FX2N-20MR chinese semi-clon of a Mitsubishi PLC. It has only a serial DB9 port that cannot be removed or exchanged (which is possible in the Mitsubishi original PLC). I wonder if I can make a simple SCADA system using that port and just one computer. I am reading this post: https://forums.mrplc.com/index.php?/topic/9653-fx-series-and-modbus/ And I am wondering how I can do what it is suggested there in the second message: to use a free FB block, available in GX IEC (but not in GX Developer), which will communicate modbus via a standard RS232 BD board. Later on it mentions a library called ModbSFX. That message is from 15 years ago so I am wondering if now there is some other way to do it, perhaps some other software has that functionality? I don't have GX IEC. I am a student trying to make a project so I would like a cheap and simple solution. Any help to do so will be very welcome. Thanks Regards Marcelo
