  1. Hello I would like to first let everyone know I am new to the world of troubleshooting or programming plc's . What we have is a SLC500 system that is connected to a Panelview 1000 HMI via the DH+ network. The issue we have is the panelview displays a gate that is suppose to be closed at as gate fault. When i connect to the plc the ladder rung shows that the gate is closed. To show various positions of the gate the programmer used N13:70 as gate opened and N13:71 as gate faulted and N13:72 as gate closed. When i checked the logic it showed the bit N13:72 as engaged or true if you will. This logic is in the ladder rung that is labeled PV Status which i take is the status the HMI reads so my question is why does it show GF when it should be reading GC. Ive searched all through the logic and it doesnt appear to be wrong here is the logic the best I can simulate it  ladder 6 rung  53  instruction is  XIC O:13.0/11 and OTE N13:76/0 (Gate Open ) and the branch is XIC I:5.0/11and OTE N13:76/1 (Gate Fault) next branch is XIC N13:3/11 and OTE N13:76/2 (Gate Closed which this section is green or highlighted or true which ever you like) when i looked at the input XIC N13:3/11 this is what I found is that this XIC is on ladder four rung10 and has the following XIC T4:154/DN and branchoff that is XIC I:5.0/11(gate opened)XIC I:6.0/11(gate closed) which these two inputs are false or not lighted the output is OTL N13:3/11 and it is true which makes the previous rung true showing the gate closed. So why is the panelview showing the wrong position. I even went as far as resetting the HMI and the PLC so if anyone has a helpful hint I would greatly appreciate it.
  2. Hi, i uploaded program from my Allen Bradley 1400 PLC. when i tried to go online, a notification pops up showing program in processor has changed causing offline state do u want to upload, when i upload the same information comes up Uploading from PLC.pdf
  3.  Hi, after implement the following steps to configure my Allen Bradley 1400 programing logic controller, I tried uploading program from the PLC, a got a notification displaying (no respond from processor at selected path/node) please will appreciate any help to rectify this error uploading program from AB 1400 (1).pdf
  4. details: panelview (2711P-RDT15C) connected to "switch A" (ntron p/n: F-716TX) "processor A " (1756-L62) is connected to "switch A" "processor B" (1756-L73S) is connected to "switch B" (ntron p/n: F-716TX) "switch B" is connected to "switch A" I'm trying to use a single panelview to communicate to 2 separate PLC processors (separate chassis). When I go to add the shortcut in factory talk I find the "processor B". When I connect my laptop to  "switch A" I can see every thing in RSlinxs.  Any one experience this issue or know how to make this setup work? Maybe there's a switch setting that is not allowing RSlinxs enterprise in the PV to see both processors?
  5. Hello, my AB HMI panel view plus 600, when I power it only the comm green light comes on, the touch screen does not come on, any help I will appreciate thanks.
  6. Hello I have a scenario that's been bugging me for some time now. The scenario consists of a Micrologix 1400 that I need to control it's output from modbus/tcp. In detail what I really need is to be able to manipulate the O0:0 through modbus/tcp. The PLC would be the master and I would be the slave that triggers the connection to the master. I'm using a Modbus-Client on my PC and that should be the slave. Any idea as to how I can manage that? Currently I can send data to the master but everything is "stored" on B10 and I have no idea how I could write directly on O0. Thanks a bunch guys. PS: I'm borderline noob.
  7. I am needing some guidance on an application I'm working on. I'm trying to obtain data from a profinet slave device to an Allen Bradley compactlogix PLC. I am using a Prosoft PLX82-EIP-PNC profinet-/ethernet-ip gateway as a median to allow me to access the profinet data. In RSlogix5000, I have created an EIP Class 1 connection for the profinet controller and AB PLC (248 words of input data, 248 words of output data). The same structure is created in the profinet controller (248 words of input data, 248 words of output data). The profinet gateway and PLC are communicating properly. From my profinet slave device, I have a specification that the data is structured within a 23 byte format. Connecting to my profinet gateway, I can see this data. I have attached an image that shows the specification of the profinet data and the data values displayed inside the profinet controller. From the PLC side, I'm needing to be able to see this data and put it in meaningful values. I am using the profinet slave device's internal temperature as an example to work towards. I'm not sure the best way to be able to handle this data and structure it to a meaningful value inside the PLC. (I am using the device's internal temperature as an example to try and get into the PLC).   Thanks,

  9. Hello I have a problem with dl-ep1 ethernet modul. I connected the module to a IL-1000 sensor amplifier. There is some problem with the communication. How should I adjust ? I made some pic about the trouble. The sensor is a IL-600 laser distance sensor. I dont know yet how can I get the actual value.  Anybody knows how to set this modul ? If I think correctly after the right setting, if I check the sensor output:0 then, I can see the actual value of the IL-600 sensor. But unfortunatelly this part also not so clear for me, because I can connect about 15 sensor this ethernet modul.  Thank you so much if anybody help.
  10. I have a Panelview model 2711-T5A20L1 that the IT Dept. tells me has SNMP Protocol active. They want it turned off. Is it possible, does the device need this protocol? If it's possible to turn it off, how? I have search the knowledge base on AB.com and found nothing. I have done a search of PDF manual for "SNMP" and turned no results.
  11. Hi Guys, I need your various suggestion and helps on this issues. Past few days we facing an issues whereby the gantry of Z-axis which using the Kinetix 5500 servo drive straight crash down on the conveyor. The fault was Excessive Velocity Error and the first thing we took a look was the teaching and the speed. Somehow the teaching value of the motor and the speed was alright, we are running the axis on 100% speed. We have no idea the fault might be on the wiring or it might be the acceleration of the motor speed. We use to run this machine onsite at various customer, and this happens past few days. We run out of idea and we will be very much appreciated if there is any helpful idea could be bring up to. Steps taken so far; - Verify encoder value - Checked teaching position - Verify speed, acceleration and deceleration value was correct - Power motor connector was shielded
  12. Hi my problem may have a simple solution but i cant work it out. I need to use the Divide function but it wont let me use a decimal point in either Source A or Source B. Is there a way to use a decimal point in Logix 500 Math instructions? Im using an AB Micrologix 1400 PLC. Can you only use math instructions with whole numbers? is there a way around this? Thanks James

  14. Hello all. I have been working with an SLC 5/04 system, which houses various Digital and Analog INs and OUTs, up to Slot 29. I am currently mainly working with Slot 25, an Analog Input: 1746-NI16I. This is a system which has already been set up and has been running for the best part of 8-10 years. This particular card has had some spare inputs, one of which I am trying to connect to. In the Advanced Configuration, only a few Channels are actually "Enabled", and each channel is pretty much slightly different from another in terms of Input Type, Filter Frequency and Data Format. I am trying to set up Input 14, which is Channel 15, to "Enable" it, 4-20mA Input Type, Filter Frequency of 6 Hz and Data Format of either Raw/Proportional or Engineering Units. Now, after I have made my choices, I click apply, and then OK. I am then confronted by a pop-up which states: "Configuration Rung and Data Integer Data File Number: 25 Integer Data Element: 100 Rung to be inserted: XIC S2:1/15 COP #N25:100 #O0:25.0 24 At Program File Number: 4 82" I have the options of OK or Cancel. If I click OK, I now have LAD 4, Rung 82 Highlighted. This First Scan Bit and COP function were already here, but does that mean I have now altered what is being written to "#O:25.0"? I now Download the Changes. However, after all this, I am not getting any Analog input reading coming in from the Live PLC. What is this COP function? What does it do? How do I properly set up this Analog Card?   Thanks for your time, -Jame
  15. Hi Guys!   There is a task. I have a motor, and I can monitoring the actual speed. The question is how can I to determine the average speed, if I know just the actual speed. If the speed is zero, it must be ignored. So I have to measure when the motor moves. Anybody have any idea? How can I solve this problem. RSLogix 5000.  Thank you.
  16. A machine was bought at auction which included PLC-5/15 module.  It did not come with a backup of the program.  Our maintenance technician said the program would not load and turned the module over to me (IT).  I notice the battery was installed in '92 so am assuming the program is lost.  Is their any internal memory or last ditch effort i can attempt to recover the program from this module?
  17. I am trying to upload program from panelview 600 with a windows xp pc using true serial port. The HMI has device net and rs232 port I am using straight rs232. Is there any set up or can i upload from the memory card attached to hmi. The HMI has a glare and display is not visible, we are trying to upgrade to panelview plus. Thanks  Model 2711-B6C10x FRN 4.48
  18. Hello I am  a Robot Programmer. Fortunately  I would be beginning the PLC Programmer Interview Process. From Initial CV Screening and first round of Interview. Screening was easier. But unfortunately I am not good with PLC tech questions apart from that is involved with Robot Programming. I need a few questions to judge whether the applicant is faking his experience or does he has the qualities. If any PLC Programmers can help me, It would be a great help for me.   Thank You
  19. I am in the middle of doing a retrofit for a old PLC5 and i decided to upgrade it to a Control Logix. With how much I/O I was needing the price of the system was going to be very pricey. So I decided to use my main rack as a control logix and use Flex I/O for my remote racks. I have never put together a Flex I/O rack so I am unsure of what I need for this rack other than my I/O modules and a communication module. Could someone give me a list of what is needed for these systems?
  20. Hi Guys! I have a problem with data collection. I use RS Logix 5000 software. I need to collect 11 int value. The sampling frequency is about 2 or 3 second. I tried to make an array but I faild, because I dont find what is correct for my task. I need about 5000 sample each of int value. Anybody have any idea about this problem ? If I have the datas then I have to exporting to an excel table . Thank you if anyone can help me.   T
  21. I have G310 and need to communicate with a AB PowerFlex 753 via Ethernet (20-COMM-E). I have tinkered with the Allen-Bradley drivers, which appear to be a MSG function, with no success. Has anyone done this?
  22. I have multiple PVP 1500's on the same network. From the one in my control room i need to be able to see what user is logged into what HMI. How would I address the system tag of another HMI on the same network would I use the IP address? thank you for any help in advance
  23. I have some old Panelview plus displays (version5) that are not being used.  I would like to set them up to communicate with some version 30 PLCs for some basic indication (nothing important).  I know the hardware version won't support it communicating in the standard way, but has anybody been able to set up generic communication for something like this.  I hate for the displays to go to waste, but AB will just tell me to buy a new display.  I figure there has to be a way to communicate to the display with MSG statements or something.  This isn't for a specific project, just trying to not watse displays that we have.   Thanks.
  24. Hello guys, I have a system of 3 load cells (SP4M-7Kg) attached  to a Micrologix 1500 analog inputs. in the same PLC i have 3 coils for a vibrator, each vibrator is working with signal generators. and the load cells with an external 24vdc Power Supply. i see my load cells readings fluctuating too much even with the vibrator not working. if it is set lets say 70 Grams it is jumping from 68.4 to 74.8 going up an down never never stabilizes in one number, so i suspect am getting noise somewhere put a 100uF capacitor PLC inputs for the load cells but weight just increases more and more. How can realize where is the noise comming? what can i use as a filter? how can i improve this system? should i changed it to digital?   any help welcome! thanks.  questions?
  25. Does anyone have experience with a Jiskoot Insight controller? Im trying to establish communications between it and a MVI69-MCM. I have checked and rechecked all my settings. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Thanks
