  1. Hello, I am trying to receive data from a scale via rs232. my setup; compact logix l18er with a 1734-rs232ascii point IO module to receive the data. I am receiving data from the scale, but I have very little understanding of ascii, so I do not know how to convert the data I am receiving to something use-able. any help on how to convert the data to something I can use or where to even start would be much appreciated. using a scientech ZSA 210 scale https://scientech-inc.com/media/downloadable/files/links/1/2/12222-d_rev-f_instruction_manual.pdf
  2. Hello guys, I am running an application for packaging measurement using a sick DFS60B incremental encoder (programmable from 1 to 10000 PPR). In more detail, it passes packaging on a conveyor belt and we have created an inspection station and an expulsion station (defective packaging), so we use the encoder to check at specific points of the packaging for defects (we use special sensors to check defects). ) (there are four in total). However, the problem we are having is the following: When reading the encoder in the PLC, the same means that performs "jumps" and does not enter the windows (GRT and LES) created on the ladder, ie, as if it were not continuous. . I understand that because the VHSC24 card works at 1 MHz in counter mode, this type of problem should not occur according to our application is not even 100 KHz. For example, our case: Using 1000 PPR and the motor speed (coupling output) is 3600 RPM (in practice it is around 1750 RPM) the frequency is calculated as follows: F = (PPR X RPM) / 60. : F = (1000x3600) / 60 = 60 KHz, ie 60 KHz is much less than 1 MHz, I think this kind of problem does not occur. Application Info: . Studio 5000 V31 . PLC Model: Rockwell 1769 - L19ER-BB1B CompactLogix 5370 . Encoder Card: 1734-VHSC24 / C . Incremental Encoder: Sick, DFS60 up to 10,000 PPR and HTL Electrical Interface. Using a 200 mm circumference / perimeter wheel. . Motor Nameplate Data: 1670 RPM, 0.37 kW / 0.5 HP, 60 Hz . Inverter: Weg CFW500, Output Frequency 62 Hz. Card Settings we use RPI: 2 ms Type: Counter, but we already use it as Encoder X1 Store Count Mode: Disabled Filter: No Filter, but we use 50 KHz and 5 Khz filters in our tests. Counter Attenuator: 1 Wiring Diagram VHSC24 We turn on encoder A at input 0 and encoder Aret at input 1 In logic (Structured Text) Using the PMUL instruction to convert encoder (Pulse) data to mm scale. (Ladder) The window comparisons part (GRT and Les) and other part of the process. We emphasize that we performed the tests also only with the reading and comparison part of the data, excluding the other parts, precisely to verify the issue of Scan, but the problem persisted. If anyone here in the forum has some information that can help us, I would appreciate it.

  4. Can the PlC be accessed remotely. If I hook the CompactLogix L32E up to the internet WAN, would it be possible for an engineer to access and make changes to the program remotely?? Or does it have to be done onsite through the LAN.
  5. Hell PLC World! I have been trying for several weeks in my spare time at work to tune an Allen Bradley Servo Motor.  Below is the list of hardware I am currently using: - CompactLogix Motion Controller (1780-L33ERM) - Kinetix 350 Driver (2097-V34PR5-LM) - MPL Series Rotary Servo Motor (MPL-B310P-MJ74AA) I have been using RSLogix5000 for testing and I plan to use it to develop a simple conveyor type program later.  I have tried a list of things which will be below, but to no avail, I cannot simply jog the motor for any period of time without triggering a position, velocity or bus voltage error.  I have tried changing the motor, driver and feedback cable to no avail.  Here is the process I have used: 1) Add the hardware to RSLogix5000 (PLC, Driver and Motor) 2) Configure the motor 3) Run the hookup test.  This works flawlessly.  The motor will slowly turn independently on the feedback test for as many revolutions as I input.  This is what makes me think I am doing something wrong in the tuning process. 4) Run autotune process with the velocity, acceleration and jerk set well below the limits of the hardware.   5) Attempt manually control motion 6) Recieve error I have tried changing the input from trapezoidal to S-Curve, changed velocity and position limits, manually tuned velocity gains in a myriad of configurations.  I have swapped legs on the 3 phase input (which made matters worse). I suppose it is possible that multiple pieces of hardware are faulty because this equipment was previously used, but I still cannot wrap my head around why the hookup test would work so flawlessly, yet I cannot just get the servo to rotate at an equivalently low speed. If anyone recognizes my mistake, I would be eternally grateful.  I am an intern studying control systems in graduate school and as popular as AB is, I would sure like to get some experience with it.  Thanks in advance!
  6. Hello everyone,   I need to communicate a CompactLogix to a Kuka KRC 4 by Ethernet/IP but I do not know to generate the EDS file..... any clue please ?
  7. I'm trying to setup some interlock signals between a CompactLogix L33ERMS and an optical gauge.  The gauge only offers PROFINET as the fieldbus for interlock signals (hard-wiring is not an option).  The PROFINET connection for interlocks in the gauge is supplied via a Beckhoff EL6631-0010 PROFINET RT device terminal (connected to a Beckhoff CX8010 bus coupler, but I assume that is not relevant). The PROFINET connection on the CompactLogix side is supplied via ProSoft PLX31-EIP-PND "EtherNet/IP™ to PROFINET® IO Device Gateway". My PROFINET experience is zero, and the ProSoft gateway was selected before my involvement in the project.  It seems to me that one of the PROFINET devices needs to be a controller or "master" on the network.  Right now, both the ProSoft and Beckhoff devices appear to be devices or "slaves", but the terminology is fuzzy to me (PROFINET IO vs PROFINET RT, etc.). Should I be able to make the connection using current ProSoft Device gateway, or do I need to upgrade to a PLX82-EIP-PNC "EtherNet/IP™ to PROFINET Controller Gateway" or equivalent?  Does at least one of the devices on the network need to be controller-level? Any direction would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Hi All. Was wondering if anyone has any ladder logic examples for controlling a Keyence CV-X vision system. There does not seem to be any examples listed on Keyence's website.  I have the CV-X connected to Logix via Ethernet/IP and it does respond to trigger commands. I am having some issues with changing programs in the CV-X controller via PLC control. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
  9. Hello forum! I'm using AB Compactlogix 1769 L35E CPU energized by 1769-PA2 power supply which is also supplying to 1769-SDN DeviceNet scanner, both via backplane. Trying to build a simply DN network connecting the scanner to a Balluff BNI DNT-104-000-Z004, which is a 16 PNP digital input block, since is only input module I rely that no extra power supply will be required. The problem is that when connecting both scanner and input block via my DN thick cable (Balluff BCC07YY), the input module does not energize. In fact I got no voltage reading when measuring voltage between scanner V+ and V- terminals. I measured voltage at 1769-PA2 power supply DC output (which is not in use) and its providing 24VDC, also scanner is powered on so I do not think the problem could be power supply nor backplane. Scanner display shows 92 number, scanner manual says that 92 error is "no devicenet power" and has the following description: No network power detected on DeviceNet port. Provide network power. Make sure the module drop cable is providing the proper power to the DeviceNet port. Which I do not get, is not the power supply from 1769-PA2 via backplane enough?  Is not the scanner supposed to provide voltage to the network? I've no grounding connection connected to PE yet (just between devices GND terminals)... is that a problem for testing this small network? It will be done soon but now I'm waiting for cable material. Actually I'm online using Studio5000 and have 1769-SDN DeviceNet scanner device declared at the project, there is no warning nor major fault displayed from the software. Thanks for reading.
  10. I am needing some guidance on an application I'm working on. I'm trying to obtain data from a profinet slave device to an Allen Bradley compactlogix PLC. I am using a Prosoft PLX82-EIP-PNC profinet-/ethernet-ip gateway as a median to allow me to access the profinet data. In RSlogix5000, I have created an EIP Class 1 connection for the profinet controller and AB PLC (248 words of input data, 248 words of output data). The same structure is created in the profinet controller (248 words of input data, 248 words of output data). The profinet gateway and PLC are communicating properly. From my profinet slave device, I have a specification that the data is structured within a 23 byte format. Connecting to my profinet gateway, I can see this data. I have attached an image that shows the specification of the profinet data and the data values displayed inside the profinet controller. From the PLC side, I'm needing to be able to see this data and put it in meaningful values. I am using the profinet slave device's internal temperature as an example to work towards. I'm not sure the best way to be able to handle this data and structure it to a meaningful value inside the PLC. (I am using the device's internal temperature as an example to try and get into the PLC).   Thanks,

  12. Hello, Back in December 2017, we replaced a customer's PLC-5 control system with a CompactLogix.  Everything was working fine until about a month ago, when they started having an I/O fault, Code 16 - I/O module connection failed on required module.  At first it was showing up on multiple modules, and also the end cap.  However, after a few more faults, it was only showing up on module 2.  We replaced that module and the faults stopped for about a week and then returned.  The module we replaced is a 1769-IA16. Any idea what may be causing this?  The customer insists nothing was done to the panel since the initial installation.
  13. Hi guys, I am trying to connect AB compactlogix 1769-L30ER through Ethernet cable to my laptop. I use Rslinx version 3.9 When I enter IP address it can find the CPU without any problem but it does not show the I/O. When I check the driver diagnostic, it says: Can't set port type to 288: no harmony object for this Ethernet I should mention that my OS is windows 7 and I turned off firewall as well. So, what does it mean and how I can get rid of this message? Thanks
  14. I need to run 4 exactly same devices with 4 different controllers. The logic for them would be exactly the same but the IPs and controller names would be different. Is there a way to do it using 1 project file? Basically whenever download is done the logic would be downloaded but the controller name/IP would be left unchanged. They will be connected to the same network so the IPs must be different. I am using 1769-L32E for these and all racks are set up exactly the same. Any ideas?
  15. We have an auto-clave unit purchased at auction roughly 4 years ago.   CompactLogix L32e and PanelView Plus 1000.  All has been working for us until last week.  Suddenly, the program seems to freeze up after around 30 seconds.  I can still touch the panelview and the touches are registered, (the mouse icon moves) but the program does not respond and I can tell the program is frozen because the clock which displays seconds stops counting. When i boot into safe mode (clicking white box on boot) the system does not seem to freeze at all.  I am able to navigate those menus w/o issue.  We don't have any of the software to connect to the PLC.  I understand this is a somewhat broad issue, but does anyone have any idease where i can start in troubleshooting this? or is their any further info i can provide which would be helpful?
  16. Anyone have any suggestions on the best way to pass a little bit of data between a SLC 5/03 controller and a compactlogix? The current problem I'm working through is the SLC 5/03 does not support Ethernet (only RS232 and DH485). So now I'm trying to find a solution.   Thanks,
  17. I am fairly new on this forum & PLC's, usually i read and get tips from here.I use a RsLogix 5000 PLC software. I am currently working on a project at home that requires me to read from a Access DB. What type of Instruction or method do i go about, initially reading from Access? I know Excel is possible It's an existing system. Add on functionality/feature. I am using a barcode scanner that will link up to a Access DB to verify the barcode is legit and send this info to a different system via PLC/EthernetThe access DB is used because its a older system, it uses that. So it is possible? and guessing from what your stating, its is more involved to get the system working eventually?PLC = A&B 1769-L23-QB1 CompactLogix Controller I am using FactoryTalk View Studio as HMI, do not have SCADA.I have a control logix chassis. Thank you in advance...
  18. WeinTek to AB PLC Issues

I am connecting a WeinTek eMT3105P to a CompactLogix L2 series PLC via the WeinTek Rockwell PLC (CompactLogix) - Free Tags driver and I cannot for the life of me get the thing to connect. I have all my tags imported and have played around with all the settings in the manuals I can find. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. I know my IP addresses are correct and if I connect my cable directly from the HMI to the PLC I still get the "PLC no response" message
  19. Hello, I was hoping for some help in trying to read/write to a handful of bits in a CJ1M-CPU13 controller from a Compact GuardLogix. The CJ1M rack has a CJ1W-ETN21 card that is already communicating to a handful of Yaskawa drives. Is it possible for me to communicate with this controller from a CLX unit over ethernet? I don't believe an ETN21 card uses EIP but is there a way around this? Right now, I'm struggling to even find the IP address of the ETN21 card as the CX-Programmer file provided to me by the customer does not have the card in the IO configuration and I've never worked with Omron PLCs before. I found a CJ2M to CLX guide but it assumes communication over Ethernet IP and the ethernet port is native to the controller. Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks!
  20. Hi everybody: I'm writing here because I have an Etherhet problem with my compactlogix 1769-L32E. I connect a crossover cable between my pC and the controller, then I run the BOOTDHCP server program . The BOOT DHCP window only shows the MAC of the PC, the controller´s MAC doesn't show even if i wait for more than 10 minutes I hope you can´t hel
  21. We've purchased an Autoclave at auction with CompactLogix L32e and PanelView Plus 1000.  With the help of some forum members and a local engineering company we have the machine finally working! I'm looking for some advise as to how to train users for standerd operation.  For example:  Their is a toggle switch on the front which powers on everything (PanelView, processer, switch, etc).  We close at 5pm each night.. Should we Power down the machine each night, or leave it on? Another user mentioned a battery and I was a bit confused with the manual. With the machine off, Is the PLC only holding the program because of the battery?? I have backups of the following.. (.acd, .apa, .mer) files.  I also have created a Disc Image of the Internal Flash card on the PanelView.  Is their anything else I should have a backup of? Their is a CF card in the PLC.  It has a folder called "Logix" and one called "System Volume Information"  In the Logix folder is  a CurrentApp folder with a .bin and .p5k file.  Does anyone know what exactly these are doing?? Any other advise is greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much for your time.
  22. Good morning i want to know how i can recognize into the compactlogix 1769-L24 ER the micro 850 (2080-LC50-24QBB), because i want to communicate this two devices with MSG, i already i can see these two equipments into RSlinx but when i start Studio 5000 i don't know whick module i have to use it to recognize the micro 850, please help me
  23. Hi Everybody, I would like to get the Connections from an AB CompactLogix L32 with CIP. I can see these connections on the web interface. According to the CIP Vol1 v3.3 documentation I have created a reqest in java which requests the first instace of the  Connection Manager Object with Get_Connection_Data service. I captured the sent and the received packets with wireshark. I would like to ask the following: 1.) Is this the correct way to request the connections from the PLC with CIP? 2.) The response says that "Service not supported", is it possible that the PLC does not support this service or there is problem with the request? 3.) Is there any other way to get the connections (I/O and Message) from the PLC with a CIP reqest? Thanks for the answers in advance.
  24. Hello guys, Newbie on this site. I am looking for a run time free Allen Bradley .NET driver. Basically a library (.dll) that implements communication protocols to Allen Bradley PLC's ( CIP, Ethernet/IP, etc.). Can someone point me in the right direction please ?.
  25. GOT1000&CompactLogix Tags

Hello Im new using HMI got1000, Im trying to connect using Ethernet this HMI to a compactlogix, i already imported the tags, but i can't use any of them, because the gtworks3 says "you have to map the tags for set a device", i dont know what means map the tags, some one can help me please?
