  1. Hi All, Has anyone used a Compactlogix PLC to send a SMS via a Router? I've seen it in the past using a serial connect using ASCII. Unfortunately I can't use email as network coverage can be bad at times.
  2. Hi, I have to implement an axis control in a NX1P2 PLC using an inverter (3G3MX2) and an encoder cabled on a EC0122 board. I found something similar implemented  on a CJ2M PLC, but I have no idea how to set up the axis in the configuration of sysmac studio and how to implement the control. Can someone help me? Some sample to catch out the configuration?   Thanks a lot Andrea
  3. Hi there I was reading this thread: And trying to create 3 axes. 1 virtual axis and 2 real axis, I would like to use MC_GearIn for each real axes so both real ones follow  the virtual axis (so both can move in sync motion). But my question is: If I give Move cmd(Absolute or relative)to master virtual axis and since it's virtual, it is not going to move then how can the other real ones follow the master(assuming that it's literally electronic gearing).  Any help will be appreciated!
  4. Dear Colleagues,   I require some help with regards to setting up virtual machines, We have some ControlLogix 1756 PLCs scattered around site running on different version (v20, v21 & v32). My company requires all software installations on company computers to go through IT. Installing all these versions on single PC is really a pain (going through IT)  for new hires and for new PCs. I am trying to suggest using virtual machines for each version that can be shared/distributed among the engineers and also to give engineers some autonomy in the VM environment.    How do I go about this especially with respect to licensing without violating the terms of use both the operating system and the automation software?
  5. I am one of the company I.T. members and have the resopnsibility of set up and some support for our engineers. I am not very familiar with the PLC world so be gentle - I recently discovered that ABB and Omron are best installed on a virtual PC and that not doing so is probably the reason my users have such head aches and why their Core i7 laptops are essentially no better than a 386 without a math co-pro... I got a little smarter this time and got a Lenovo W541 for the new Tech. I have a few questions about setting up these VMs 1) XP is no longer supported and hence blacklisted by the company, which means XP Mode is out of the question. I have decided to go with Virtual Box - From what I've seen in posts, it's a decent choice. 2) Do I add the VM to Active directory or keep it in a workgroup? 3) Do I bridge the NIC? 4) A separate VM for RSLogix 5000 and a separate VM for Omron CX-One? 5) Should I uninstall unnecessary stuff like Internet Explorer from the VMs? 6) Are there any other guidelines or things-to-watch-out-for that I should be aware of? Regards, Kerry
