  2. PCS7 with S7-410 for Dummies

    I just need to understand a little bit more about the PCS7 architecture, if someone could point me to a document or a video or something, or just give me a few sentences to break it down it would be greatly appreciated. The reason being, we have a quote that we are working on for a customer over seas and are being told to quote our equipment with an S7-410 PLC.  I am very unfamiliar with Siemens in general, but completely unfamiliar with the PCS7. Our equipment is typically if not almost always stand alone equipment that communicates discretely to the rest of the facility.  Our equipment is not part of a process line, but rather feeds the process line equipment what it needs to perform its operation. I have been led to believe that the S7-410 PLC must be part of a DCS, so it does not seem like the correct fit for our equipment.  I just want to confirm this and learn a little bit more so I can explain to our sales folks and ultimately the end user why it is the wrong option for us and our type of equipment.   Thank you!!!     I need help with a program I wrote for school that didn't work quite right.  I have to make a chasing light program that will freeze the lights when a PB is engaged and reverse when PB is engaged on light 1.  The assignment has already been turned in but our instructor ( if you want to call him that) has told us a similar sequence will be on the final.  Can anyone help me out??

    Dear Sir, I need to update the PLC program offline with online, so I tried to compare the program blocks but I got the error that The comparison of the two blocks in STL showed that codes are identical.   11. I have a problem when trying to download a program from a FX1S-30MT PLC. I am using a SC-09 USB cable. The software i am using is GX Developer 8. When trying to download the MAIN program the screen in the attachment appears. I tested the download from another PLC of same model and have no problems, therefore the cable is ok, and the laptop is ok. When downloading of the parameters and comments does not give error, just when trying to download MAIN. Also I tested connection with Test Connection button and says communication is ok. Anyone who can help? I have a doubt, how can i see the communication parameters on the PLC side? Thanks a lot

    Hello, First of all, Hello to all members. Im From Portugal. I trying to help my dad. I Have a Omron CJ1M-CPU11 with a program running that works fine... Now i need to transfer this program to a CJ1M-CPU13. I started to download from CJ1M-CPU11 to a file... them im running the Cx-programer on the CJ1M-CPU13, connection its ok, but when i try to transfer i get this error : The connect PLC type : CJ1M-CPU11 The Project PLC type : CJ1M-CPU13 Its possible to convert ?   13. Hello: I'm not sure how to go about creating the structure of this program, would like some ideas/help. I have a program that checks/reads 8 analog inputs and compares each input against 4 different settings, if the value is outside any of these settings the program runs a subroutine to send out an email for (Alarm/Event) notification for that particular input. The way the program is structured now is that it reads analog input 0 first and checks against the settings if the reading is not in range it will call a subroutine to send out email for that sensor(analog AI:0.0) then it will return and read for Analog input #1 and check reading and if it needs to it will call another subroutine to send out email for that sensor(analog AI:0.1) and so forth. What I need to add, is a way to count how many times a sensor(input) has sent the alarm email because I want to limit this to 5 notifications after that, stop sending emails. Now this has to be done for each sensor(input).(Note: I would also like to have a timer involved so that it will only send emails about every 15 minutes for 5 counts.) I need this because the plc will send out emails until the error for the sensor has been corrected, this could take a few hours and if I don't have some sort of control, that would result in 1000's of emails being sent and world probably get shut down for spamming. Would like some ideas on how I should go about this. I am using a micrologix 1100 and rslogix 500 software. Thanks

  15. I am writing a new program for a MicroLogix 1500 LRP Series C. When I verify the project I get the following errors: Program error ERROR: Attempted to set more IO data than has been allocated Program error ERROR: Incorrect Output Force File Size The IO Configuration should be correct because I had the software "Read IO Config". I don't see any unverified rungs. My software is RSLogix 500 Version 9.00.00 (CPR 9) Does anyone have a solution?
  16. Hiya Guys, New here (first post!) - and I'm fairly new to Connected Components Workbench, so apologies for the mammoth post! I am currently developing a System using one Micro850 PLC and one PanelView C600 HMI. I am able to update the current HMI time by sending Unsigned-Integers to Global Connection Tags: System Clock – Hour ($SysClockHour);System Clock – Minute ($SysClockMinute);System Clock – Second ($SysClockSecond);However, if using the same “update time” more than once, this method does not work as the HMI is looking for a “change” in a Tag before an update occurs (Tag-specific). For example, we require to be able to receive a “synchronisation signal” on a digital-input on the PLC each day at 15:00:00. This will only work once as, even though the HMI’s current time updates every second, I will still be sending the values “15”, “0”, and “0” to the above Tags (which will therefore not force an update – as they haven’t changed). I cannot reset these Tags without updating the current Time – as any number “out of range” causes an error (incidentally the errors are shown on the HMI to occur on Tags “SysClockSecondTimed”, “SysClockMinuteTimed”, and “SysClockHour” – note the omission of the word “Timed” on the Hours error…). There appears to be no reference to these “Timed” Tags anywhere in CCW, and I have no idea why the “Hour” update errors on a different (the correct?!) Tag. It’s a pretty confusing problem and difficult to explain… it took me a while to get my head around it – and I can see what the code is doing! J I've looked for documentation on how these Global Connection Tags work, but I can't find anything. Everything I (think I) know so far is from extensive testing... so if anyone knows of any documentation, or has any suggestions as to how I can achieve the required result - that would be massively helpful!     Hello Experts, Good day to you all. I just can’t figure how I will integrate five S7-300 PLC. CPU 315-2dp. (1.Blow moulding-> 2. filler-> 3. labeller-> 4. packer-> 5. Palletizer) I just want to get the speed of its machine, the output rate and the alarm, this is purely monitoring, archiving, no need to control anything here. I planning about SCADA system. I’m thinking if I could do the same way in my previous project, which I’ve done in profibus master/slave for two s7-300. But this time the five PLC’s already set the profibus as master to the danfoss drive, sew drives, ET200s and many more profibus slave. I plan to buy 1 PLC as master and I will set all as slave, but how since all the five existing PLC, its profibus already configured as master. Thank you very much.   19. Hello all, I am experiencing an unusual (and what appears to be an unheard of) behavior in my CompactLogix L18ER controller. I am setting the date/time of the controller from my work station, however when I GSV WallClockTime, it is reporting 4 hours different. I have asked our local resources as well as done some forum and knowledgebase searching without result. Has anyone encountered this before? Attached is a screenshot of the controller time vs. the wall clock time. This isn't mission critical since it can be manually adjusted however I would like to understand what is taking place that would cause this behavior. Thanks!

  22. Hi, I have a problem with my BC9020 and hope that someone can help me. I managed to set the IP adress of my PLC in the 10.2.5... add a root, run a program and make the PLC working for a while. I then tried another program, a new one... and now that I want to re-read the first program, Twincat System Manager doesn't allow me to enter in the "run mode" and stays in "config mode". It also has lost the IP address I set (10.2.5.....) and came back to the 172.16.22... (manufacturer settings) I cannot determine if the problem is in the PLC Control or In System Manager... This is my method to change the IP *** IP config *** 1) Reset the PLC First I place the end terminal next to the PLC. I set the DIP switches 1,6,7 to ON, power on the PLC and power off. I set the DIP switches 2,6,7 to ON, power on the PLC and power off. I set the DIP switches 1,2,6,7 to ON, power on the PLC and power off. 2) Set my PLC on the same AMS than my own IP (172.16.22...1.1) 3) In System Manager, add a new route 4) change the setting in I/O Configuration -> I/O Device -> Device 2(BX9000) -> clic on BX9000 define "set IP Address" to Manual define " IP Address" to 10.2.5...., the AMS change automatically. Press the configuration button and then Ctrl+F4 (run mode) This method worked but seems not to be the best... If you have any Ideas ? or questions? Thank you in advance Gregi
