  1. Dear Team,   We are looking for a suggestion to drive a motor which is away about 2100 Meter from its starter. The Pump is located in a pond in the forest which is 2000 Meters away from the nearest building. The pump capacity is 55kW and we are considering 55kW HD VFD as a starter. As we see the distance is much higher we are looking for you valuable suggestion about how this thing is gonna work without any abnormalities.

  3. Problem: I am getting a control sync fault on 2 recently installed kinetix 5500 but only when my programing PC is connected to the machine network.  Install and setup all went great over a 5 day period.  Then all of a sudden I started to get this fault. Sometimes 100 times in an hour.  As soon as I go offline, and unplug my PC the problem goes away.  I have also tried another PC connected to the Machine network and still get the same result.  Sometimes machine can run for hours with my PC connected with no problem.  I do not have to be online with controller for fault to occur. Setup: I have the 2 K5500's ethernet ports daisy chained together, and then connected via shielded CAT 6 cable directly to port 2 of the Compact Logix Controller Coarse Update is set to 3.5ms and utilization's are at 33% and below.(I have tried the default 2ms with same results) Ethernet modules are configured with FW rev 7.013. Machine network is isolated.(not connected to plant network or internet) Equipment: Compact logix L33ERM Running version 30.01. There are a total of four servos in this system all running over ethernet.  2 Kinetix 350's(not affected), and 2 kinetix 5500's. I have tried: separate ethernet cables for each drive ran through a switch different ethernet cables resetting coarse update speed connecting a different PC for programming   I am just not sure where else to go with this.  Thanks in advance for any help.
  4. Positioning and speed control

Hello Guys. Is it possible to use an fr-a840 to use in the same time positioning control and also in speed control mode ? In the moment the vfd is in speed control mode. But now i also have to need to stop the conveyor in certain position. It will be a new feature. If its not possible, do i need a hsc ?  The speed of the conveyor is 20 m/min and the accuracy should be within 3 mm.  Could anybody help me with this.  Thanks ahead.

  6. Hello everyone, I'm trying to import the I/O module configuration file (extension XHW), but this option is blocked in Control Expert. I'm trying to import an existing configuration file so that I don't have to reconfigure the I/O boards manually. Does anyone know how to enable these import and export options or is there another method to import the file? Thanks
  7. I have this hardware configuration of an extension rack for a M580 PLC projet using EcoStruxure Control Expert I export the.XHW file by following the procedure below: https://www.se.com/uk/en/faqs/FAQ000256454/ And I am trying to rename the DD1602 card using the file, however, when I rename the card as a show in the next image (selected in green), and re-change the file to the .XHW extension, when I re-import it into Control Expert, I get an error saying: unknown fatal exception, even though the only change I've made is to the name of the card. I know I can rename IODDTs instances manually in Control Expert, but in fact I'm trying to automate the process of renaming IODDTs because I have a lot of IODDTs to rename, which is why I thought of using the XHW file. Does anyone have an idea of what I could do? Thanks in advance
  8. Hi everyone, I have a question for you all, Is possible to configure CJ2M-CPU11 with tags trough network configurator to connect Control Logix PLC using EthernetIP? I did a configuration with CJ2M-CPU31 and Control Logix PLC with no problem, but now I need to communicate CJ2M-CPU11 with Control Logix PLC using EthernetIP. Some of you did this configuration between this two PLC before? Regards!

  10. Hello, I am having an issue with a PowerFlex 700S. This drive controls a travel motor for an overhead hoist. It is periodically not starting after stopping at a programmed point and sometimes stops while traveling to the next station. It does not give any faults or alarms. It is controlled remotely from a CompactLogix through a wireless router to an N-Tron unmanaged switch to the 20-COMM-E adapter. There are some limited manual controls, but the normal operation is a start, stop and speeds all sent from the controller. We have the DI6 set to enable and that does not seem to ever be lost. When this happens the only thing that I can find is the start inhibit parameter shows a bit 8 set high which is a start request present. I can see the PLC has already sent the start signal. I can put the machine in manual mode then cycle back to auto and the drive takes off. The only thing I can see changing while doing this is the start command is dropped and then sent again. I have changed the comm adapter as originally I had thought this was an issue with comms, but now I am skeptical as I have it set to fault and stop if a comms loss is detected. I am also able to connect to this drive and others on the same hoist through the wireless comms, so I feel better about the comms path. What causes this start inhibit bit 8 to become active? Does this seem to be a communication issue or a potentially a bad drive?
  11. Hi from Colorado, Panel Builders @ MRPLC~ I bought a custom 508A assembly from a UL shop (277/480v 3 phase). The prototype didn't work out very well so I'm revising the design for next time. Before I present my "red line" revisions to the fabricator, could someone advise if I'm OK to simplify part of the work in a particular way? I just need to make sure my simplification doesn't run afoul of the 508A standard. My clients requested that a ten watt 120vAC amber LED (distant from the 508A cabinet) should light up whenever the 3 phase bus is energized. The panel fabricator provided an SSR solid state relay to close whenever 277v shows up across the "input" terminals & they fused the 277v hot for the input so that's all good. The "output" terminal is "single pole normally open", rated for 10 amps. The power that I'm sending in from outside the cabinet is from a small UPS system where the inverter is rated for 250VA's--so it can't deliver more than two amps @ 120vAC.  It seems to me that I don't need the series fuse that the shop provided to protect the 10 amp rating on the SSR--since my input power is already current limited. It also seems that I don't need to bring the associated single phase neutral wire into the 508A cabinet at all--since the neutral is never switched & it's doing nothing inside the 3 ph. assembly. If I revise the drawings along these lines, I'll eliminate two terminal blocks, a cc fuse/fuse holder & some wire...and this part of the assembly will be simpler & more intuitive.  Basically, I want to treat the SSR like a switch leg for the light, running only a 120v hot wire to & from the SSR output terminals. I don't want to revise the drawings, however, unless I'm sure the fabricator won't have to change them back to comply with UL 508A. I don't own the UL "standard" document & I don't know the peculiarities...but I'm sure some of the forum members do.  Should I add signage to explain that the 120v hot must be current limited or OCPD protected before it enters the 3 phase cabinet? Thanks in advance for any coaching or suggestions.
  12. control panel for sale

Hi all, Hope everyone is doing well. I'm currently in the process of starting a home based control panel shop. I have about 8 years of control panel building experience and about 2-3 years of being shop team lead/design engineering. I have been planning this for years and now I have my shop full of necessary tools and material to build small/medium sized panels. I have gone through all the training and examination(which was not easy) to be able to produce UL508A approved panels. My goal is to produce a steady work load with great quality. Now I just need an opportunity with customers which I find to be the hard part. I have been contacting local industries but haven't had any luck. If anyone out there is seeking control panels built at a good competitive rate please advice.

  14. Hi All, I'm new to using PLC, and my background is majorly programming. I am learning how to control a PLC over the internet using HTTP or TCP/IP. I have a Mitsubishi PLC Melsec FX-5U 32MR and my requirement is, I want to send create a setup where the PLC works more like a Client on the network and reads values from the server (which is a computer). The outputs on the PLC are controlled by the values on the database in server.  So, lets assume I have a value like this on the server "1,0,0,1,0,1", it should translate like below: Y0 = 1 Y1 = 0 Y2 = 0 Y3 = 1 Y4 = 0 Y5 = 1 Is there any guidance where I can read through and learn how to do this. I would prefer doing it by ST programming and not Ladder.
  15. Logic issue, or problem with Control Expert 14.1?   Pop-up box, followed by Control Expert crash.  PLC seems to be running fine. "Control Expert Fatal Error" "The thread tried to divide an integer value by an integer divisor of zero" Anybody seen this before?  Corrupt file?  Reboot?  Uninstall/reinstall?
  16. Servo drive control power

Hi, I have a servo coil feeder. It has HMI, PLC, MR-JE-100A Servo drive, and motor.  Recently,  smoke came out of drive. One capacitor was almost split. 400 V, 680 uF. This is right after 3-P rectifier. I believe there was some sort of over voltage. I found the capacitor from China,  and installed. HMI and PLC are sending power and signals, but no sign of activity at the drive. DC bus is alive, but can't pass beyond relay after bridge rectifier. There is no power at control circuit either. No service manual. I ordered another same drive. Do I need to set anything on the drive, or HMI and PLC has all the necessary signal to drive the motor? NC+servo+Roll+Feeder+manual (2).pdf
  17. Can anyone tell me how to check fault history in Allen Bradley powerflex 40 drive?
  18. Hello Experts We have a machine with Mitsubishi Servo MR-JE-2008 With PLC Fx 5U & HMI GS2107 Yesterday we altered PLC by adding a row with input and timer & used this Input in next rung for weld start Although we did not  find any linkage but found "'Screen error Ok"' on HMI and after pressing Ok, HMI screen getting blank. We restored original PLC backup - PLC in Run Mode still ""Screen error Ok"" on HMI Via GT designer 3, we have loaded HMI backup, now HMI screen is OK and normal Getting Ab on Mitsubishi drive - we feel it is not an error but due to this we are unable to rotate motor although other functions like door open/close etc Ok In PLC, online mode, we are finding Servo in ON but unable to understand Ab on Drive and may be due to this, unable to rotate motor Please refer to attached HMI, PLC & Servo Backup Request advice HMI BACK UP.GTX PLC BACKUP.gx3 Flange Welding_Tag Line Servo Backup.mrc2
  19. Motion Control

Hi Everyone.   I have been tasked with changing out an older Flex Drive servo drive to a more modern Micro Flex drive in a machine that has an Omron CQM1H-CPU51 PLC.  I'm having a few issues but hope that i can gain some clarity around at least one of the hurdles Im facing from here. Biggest issue for me at this moment is My work hasn't yet purchased a programming lead for this PLC (or even the bits required to make one myself) but i have a feeling the control for the Servo is done via motion control in the PLC.  Question here is, if changing from one servo drive to another type, will the motion control code need to be updated to work with the new servo drive?  I have very limited experience with motion control itself at this stage so I'm a bit lost when it comes to these sort of details. Regards Kiwi_man82
  20. question about ABB ACS800 control

I am not a drive person (far from it...),  but I am working on a project using a number of ACS800 drives.  On one drive (only seeing this issue on one drive,  as far as I can determine) - when I specify a target speed and also specify maximum acceleration - there is a (significant) difference in terms of the accel time whether I have the drive set to internal speed control vs. external (encoder) control.  It takes almost exactly twice as long to get up to speed when set to external vs. internal.  (And problem with keeping it set to internal is that we lose accuracy at higher speeds,  and also at very low speeds...).  The most obvious issue would be a bad or improperly set encoder module,  but speed of motor is correct (as measured by tach) whether using internal or external.  Encoder module was also swapped for new one,  with no difference.   The only parameter that I am changing is speed by external encoder vs. internal  (I think that it is parameter 98.01).  Would anyone have any idea as to what could be causing this?   Thanks for any ideas!
  21. Hello all,    I have 3 kinetix 5500 drives connected in series but some how the 3rd drive lost power. all the fuses in the cabinet look good. nothing else is tripped either.    any advice is appreciated.  thank you
  22. Hello All, I'm a newbie to Omron programing  I have a program where I want to control a stepper motor with 1 plc output "pulse output0"  in my program I used PLS2 instruction but when I execute the instruction the motor won't rotate and the plc outputs are off, My wiring is fine, and my plc is CP1E-N40S1DR-A MY 1st output is pulse output 0 Q100.0 and also the driver wiring with the stepper motor is good ( I did a test with siemens plc the motor does work fine ) , what could be the problem? thanks, PLC OUPUT 0 SETTING
  23. Can someone please suggest a Control Panel Builder that is located in Germany?   I work for a company in Australia and due to Covid 19, we are struggling to meet an onsite date for a project in Germany.   This project uses Siemens PLC gear, Danfoss drives, and mostly Schneider electrical gear. 24. Hello everyone    I am working on modbus TCP protocols to communicate between SEW drive and Omron PLC CP1L-EM. I am following modbus TCP function block from Omron, But i have updated that block because of is not fit to SEW modbus communication. Currently, I am sending a control work to SEW but I am getting error on Modbus TCP from SEW drive, which is invalid data. So I am looking your help is you work with SEW drive before and communicate over modbus, then please let me know how to make a data string for read and write (SEW Drive function 23). I am using 3PD data structure.    Thank you
