Hi everyone! I have a question to all of you guys - do you ever use any software or online tools to manage your automation/electrical engineering projects? I have worked in a number of companies and have seen various scenarios, from using excel tables to run multi-million dollar projects to using proprietary SW for every little tiny project. Unfortunately I do not have experience working for any major big integrator and am very curious how projects are managed at this level (and if every engineer likes the way it is handled). Additional question - does anyone have ever used a software to automatically generate the PLC code? I know some companies develop products to generate the "skeleton" of PLC program and I think it is a great thing to have.

Plc programming experience needed
Jonasmartinez posted a topic in For Sale, Employment, Services or Wanted
Hi all. I would like to get in contact with whoever can help me in my particular problem. I hold an HNC level in robot and plc programming but for different reasons I'm still trying to get on the industry but is being a hard task. It's been a while that I'm trying to get into some companies by agencies and they are always asking for something that I can't provide like two years experience. Basically I'm writing here trying to find someone that can help me in anyway. Currently I live in Shrewsbury and it will be complicated to get relocated but nothing is impossible if things are interesting for both sides. Thanks to all even for read it and just consider the possibility to help me on any way. -
We have been having a re-occurring issue where some of our PLC's throughout our plant have a network outage that occurs around the same time every night. The PLC's are disbursed among the plant and it has been confirmed no large pieces of equipment are being turned on around this time every night... The network traffic does not fluctuate around this time and is not near a "troubling" level. There was a reboot to one of our servers on the same VLAN as the PLC's that are having the connectivity issues... What could have changed from a server reboot to remedy this issue, the server is not communicating to the PLC's, they are just on the same VLAN.

Has anyone had any issues with dirty power or disturbances from Utility that occur duration the night?

Hello I am having some difficulty writing code for a specific function using Tia portal and a S7-1200. I 10 Digital inputs and 1 analogue output set for 0-10V. When 1 DI is high I need the AQ to be at 1V, when any 2 DIs are high I need the AQ to be at 2, When any 3 DIs are high I need the AQ to be at 3V and so on.... I just can't work out the best way to do achieve this. For a bit more info the to what the project entails the digital inputs are all coming back from DOL starters for woodworking equipment at workstations. When one of these starters is turned on a signal is sent back to the PLC DI card, this open a solenoid in extraction pipework and also increases the frequency at a VSD to extract the dust. So when more workstations are in use the higher the frequency of the VSD will be and the faster the motor will run allowing adequate extraction at all stations

Hello! I'm very new to the TIA Portal, and i need some answers about Multiuser service. In the near future i need to program some PLC's with TIA Portal with my co worker simultaneously.. He told me that he doesnt know, how this will work, because he dont know how the multiuser server works (+ needs license maybe?). In Step 7 we can program the PLC simultaneously, i just upload my FC to to PLC, and he works in another FC. He said that this is not the case with TIA Portal, and instead we need to exchange our projects frequently. But is it true? I need some license for this, and do some extra work, to work together with my co.worker? I only want to load my FC's into the PLC and my colleague load in another Fc's,DB's, etc.. Sorry for the beginner question, i never worked with TIA Portal.

Hi all experts, I am LOGO! 8 PLC programmer, and now I am beginning to start SCADA developement. I want to ask which software should I install ?, 1. TIA portal with Siemens SIMATIC STEP 7 Professional & WinCC Professional 15.1 x64 2. WinCC RT Professional 15.1 x64 3. STEP 7 Professional 14.0 4. SINAMICS Startdrive 14.0 5. WinCC RT Advanced v15 Please excuse me if my question is not OK as I am beginning scada developement I know nothing about it and I can get limited software through my college programme. I am confused too because I found that "Up from version 12 of WinCC the driver “LOGO” is available" and also "I think the Logo! communication driver is only available for a WinCC RT advanced , not professional." in this post : unable-to-connect-tia-15-version-to-logo-8/185145 Please hep me so that I can learn SCADA developement with my LOGO8 Waiting for your fruitful reply, Thanks and Regards

Allen Bradley 1764-24BWA Series B
marianosanchez posted a topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Hi everybody. I am looking for the schematic diagram of the power supply for the Allen Bradley 1764-24BWA series B. I did extensive search on google but could not find anything useful (only user manual of replacement parts). Thanks in advance. Cheers. -
Good day! Please tell me the options for calibrating the touchscreen of the B & R Power Panel 100 4PP120.1043-31 Rev.K0 without BIOS. After the damage, the touch screen managed to calibrate. After replacing the touchscreen with a new serviceable one, it is impossible to "push" the buttons - you need to start above the button, off-screen. There is no project source. A faulty touchscreen also fails to do a calibration. Can I reset the default calibration settings? Where is the calibration table stored? Is there a way to immediately call calibration after power on? I would be very grateful for any ideas!

Anyone have experience with the old SLC-500s? I have one machine that is about 13 years old and I think they used a new old stock SLC-05/04 when they built it. Anyway I had a battery error, which makes sense since the battery was very old, and I lost my program when I tried to replace it, which makes sense because the capacitor which is supposed to hold the charge is very old. When I tried to re-download the program to the PLC, I could not connect, I realized my issue now was no null modem... and my driver not working on my RS-232 to USB converter. My question is: What is the port above the DB-9 port used for? It was labeled PROG, so when my DB-9 serial cable didn't work I tried a serial cable for a mitsubishi FX series on the top port... and.... my power supply died. Is this a common thing on SLC-500 power supplies? Can you short them by using the wrong cable? The weird thing is the fuse on the front was not blown. Is there a fuse inside I can get to and replace? We are planning on just keeping this machine a few more years so we don't want to upgrade it. The CPU was fine afterwards.

Hello All, I will first state that I am very new to the world of PLC's. I do the control drawings where I work. I'm trying to figure out the 1734 Point IO, specifically the 1734-IA4. The manual states "Module power is supplied from the internal power bus". Does this mean I do not need to run ANY power wires to the modules? The installation manual shows points 4,5,6 and 7 as "L1" wires?? The system I am designing, from left to right has the following: 1794-PS13, 1734-AENT, 1734-FPD, Followed by Qty. 11 1734-IA4's. I'm bringing 120VAC and 24VDC to the 1794-PS13. From the 120VAC terminals, I run wires to the FPD. From the 24VDC terminals, I run wires to the 1734-AENT. On the first 1734-IA4, I would think I should bring any power there, because its already back plane fed...….correct? Or DO I run power wires there? Thanks in advance

Modbus address register exchange between Melsec-Q series PLC and ME96SSHA-MB Power meter
RV3.0 posted a topic in Mitsubishi
Please assist me with the following; regarding the ME96SSHA-MB Power meter data transition with Melsec-Q series PLC; We acquire to read various values on dedicated Modbus storage address registers at the simultaneous into a Melsec-Q series PLC via Modbus (TCP or RTU) for calculation purposes. Naturally, since the reading of these variables are to provide accurate instantaneous results, it is a requirement that these values are to be read at one scan. However, as can be seen below, there is a gap in address register range – of which, if all of these are scanned simultaneously, yields an exception error when read. This error is only avoided by scanning these data sets separately – which is not ideal for our application – since accuracy in calculations is imperative.- 2 replies

The plc runs for a minute and then the power turns off while the supply voltage is ok. I was sure that it is for the power circuit problem inside the plc. As I had a spare power circuit of cp1h and I checked it had same voltages output (5vdc, 24vdc & 0), I replaced it. Now I cannot connect it with my laptop to change to run operating mode. Could anyone help me?

I am using TIA Portal V14 to program a Siemens Mobile HMI (KTP900 Mobile).I would like to pull up a program 'signature' from the HMI that would allow me to verify that the code in the HMI is the correct version. This would help prevent an accidental overwrite of old code, resulting in a single Mobile HMI that has differing code from several others that are also in use.The closest comparison would be a Safety Signature from a Safety PLC. However, I just want to use a file checksum or similar variable that I can put on my screen.Any ideas? I appreciate it.
