  1. Problem: I am getting a control sync fault on 2 recently installed kinetix 5500 but only when my programing PC is connected to the machine network.  Install and setup all went great over a 5 day period.  Then all of a sudden I started to get this fault. Sometimes 100 times in an hour.  As soon as I go offline, and unplug my PC the problem goes away.  I have also tried another PC connected to the Machine network and still get the same result.  Sometimes machine can run for hours with my PC connected with no problem.  I do not have to be online with controller for fault to occur. Setup: I have the 2 K5500's ethernet ports daisy chained together, and then connected via shielded CAT 6 cable directly to port 2 of the Compact Logix Controller Coarse Update is set to 3.5ms and utilization's are at 33% and below.(I have tried the default 2ms with same results) Ethernet modules are configured with FW rev 7.013. Machine network is isolated.(not connected to plant network or internet) Equipment: Compact logix L33ERM Running version 30.01. There are a total of four servos in this system all running over ethernet.  2 Kinetix 350's(not affected), and 2 kinetix 5500's. I have tried: separate ethernet cables for each drive ran through a switch different ethernet cables resetting coarse update speed connecting a different PC for programming   I am just not sure where else to go with this.  Thanks in advance for any help.
  2. We are getting a processor watchdog fault on a kinetix 5500 but I cant seem to find any information on the cause of this particular issue.  Has anyone ever seen this before? Thanks guys
  3. Hello,   I hope somebody can help me give me hint on where I could look. I do have an MAM command that is throwing error 11. "At least one axis is not configured to a physical motion module ora has not been assigned to a Motion Group." The error message itself is clear but the Servo is running flawless until it suddendly stops doing this (the customer states that it mostly happens after an EStop). The EStop is hardwired via the STO inputs and those are active while the error is shown. So far the only way to reset the error is to shutdown the machine and power it up again. I can't find any errors in the error logs that would hint to dig deeper. Has anyone had this error or knows how to solve this?   PLC: CompactLogix 5370 Servo: Kinetix 5500
  4. Hello all,    I have 3 kinetix 5500 drives connected in series but some how the 3rd drive lost power. all the fuses in the cabinet look good. nothing else is tripped either.    any advice is appreciated.  thank you
  5. Hey y'all- I have an application that uses an Allen Bradley servo with a brake and a linear actuator to lift a plate vertically. While maintaining a position, the servo drive (Kinetix 5500) will occasionally fault due to over-torque.  I'm thinking it could possibly be due to mechanical issues i.e. bearings in the actuator but my initial thought would be that it would fault while moving up/down as well, so far I've only ever seen it fault while holding a position. This leads me to suspect that there may be something off in the control loop. I'm not involved in the setup but I know we use load observer and I reckon we use auto-tune. Other than that, I wonder if it's something to do with the brake. I also read about mechanical resonance in the manual which seems like a stretch but it could be contributing, the frame that the actuator/motor is attached to does vibrate a fair bit.  I'm familiar enough with basic motion control using Allen-Bradley and understand the basic concepts behind the servo/control loop. However I'm at a loss for why the servo/drive would spontaneously over-torque while maintaining a position.  How would you guys approach troubleshooting this further/solving this issue?  Many thanks!
  6. Hello everyone, I have this weird problem that the PC (process complete) bit of MAS command does not clear after a cycle time.  As you may probably see in the picture attached when the desired torque has been reached, the servo has to be stopped using MAS command; however, this is good only for one cycle!! The PC bit will remain on even when the whole sequence gets unlatched/reset. I have to manually reset this bit. I was wondering if you could help me with this issue, please?  Thank you!
  7. Hi Guys, I need your various suggestion and helps on this issues. Past few days we facing an issues whereby the gantry of Z-axis which using the Kinetix 5500 servo drive straight crash down on the conveyor. The fault was Excessive Velocity Error and the first thing we took a look was the teaching and the speed. Somehow the teaching value of the motor and the speed was alright, we are running the axis on 100% speed. We have no idea the fault might be on the wiring or it might be the acceleration of the motor speed. We use to run this machine onsite at various customer, and this happens past few days. We run out of idea and we will be very much appreciated if there is any helpful idea could be bring up to. Steps taken so far; - Verify encoder value - Checked teaching position - Verify speed, acceleration and deceleration value was correct - Power motor connector was shielded
  8. I know it may sound stupid but I am new with Studio 5000 and trying to build a project where I have to home my servo drive other than the position to zero and it is not fix but rather decided by a safety switch. What I am looking for is a dynamic Home position Entry which I am able to find it in the axis parameter but not in the CIP_Structure. Is any kind of motion FB for home position set entry? Any help would be useful. Thanks PS: Studio 5000 v30, Kinetex 5500 v7.01, L33ERM processor
  9. Hi everyone. I am after some feedback from anyone who has used the Kinetix 5500 drives with Mpl motors on a motion project containing up to 12-18 axis. How reliable have they been? What logix firmware did you end up with?  I have used both the Kinetix 6000/6500/300 drives in the past but would like another opinion before I attempt to promote this product to my customer. Thanks
  10. Has anyone had any experience with motion axis gearing on Kinetix 5500 Drive with VPL servo motor. I have a project with a 5370 L33 ERS compact logix controller, one of the items we are doing is tapping a drilled hole. I have set it up to do an approach with one servo with a MAM command then MAG the other servo as the master. It is to tap, MAS, then return, un-link and go home. When I tap the hole it will tap about six holes flawlessly then on the seventh hole it starts its tap and when it stops to reverse it faults the axis when the axis goes to reverse after MAS. The fault that I receive is Feedback past factory limit. I also found that every time this happens I find 6 data packets lost. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks
