  1. Hi, We have a discussion in our office concerning the correct way of wiring an external current signal 4-20mA to a 1756-IF16 module. (We do many different PLC brands and configurations, so my/our experience with Alan Bradley is of several years ago) We have several external current signals connected to these units. (And these systems are all situated on a ship.) Some are galvanic separated and others are not and have their 'own' power supply only a few are sensors that are loop powered by the Main PLC cabinet.   The issue: According to one colleague it is required to connect the RTN jumper wires to the negative of the main PLC cabinet to solve signal issues due to floating voltage. Although it will work, I am not sure if this is really necessary, and I don't like connecting the negative to other cabinets which have their own power supply... Alan Bradley does not indicate that this is required, only jumper wires to convert the circuit from voltage measurement to current. It is also disappointing that none of the (non-differential) examples of Alan Bradley show how to connect an external current signal (which would indicate if the extra negative to be needed)   Adding galvanic separators and connecting the RTN to the negative is in my opinion not so much a solution but an evasion of the question/issue.   Any knowledge out there? Thnx
  2. I'm doing some remote support on an FX5U with GX Works3 on the remote desktop. I've been doing this for a couple of weeks without difficulty. Yesterday the ladder monitoring stopped working. There is no ladder contact monitoring showing and D registers and timer values are blank. The Watch windows are working correctly. Online Write Monitor is selected in each case. All Tools | Options seem correct and match my local copy of GX Works3 that I used on site. Any ideas?
  3. Is there any way to monitor ethernet/ip bus, states or faults and to make an alarm to the panel alarmlist. I am using IO-stations (1734-AENTR) and I would like to monitor somehow the system. I feel that reading the slot status of the 1734-AENTR device is not enough, because it is not possible to monitor all the cards in a slot. How to get alarm on a screen if I lose any station on the ethernet/ip bus?
  4. Hi all,  I want to ask some questions regarding Ethernet Communication with FX3U PLC series. I have 2 PLCs of FX3U series (FX3U-48M and FX3U-64M) and I want to monitor its data (input and output) using ethernet communication in real time. My questions are: 1. Does FX3U PLC have ethernet port so I can connect it directly to my Laptop/PC? 2. If no, do I need to use FX3U-ENET-ADP and can it be used for 2 PLC or only 1? 3. What software do I need to use to configure the communication between PLC and FX3U-ENET-ADP? 4. Does this configuration change the existing PLC program? 5. Can i transmit the data wireless-ly using some kind of ethernet to wifi adapter and what additional hardware do i need for that?
  5. Hello all I am have FX3G PLC, where i am trying to use SPD function for speed monitoring and controling. currently i am working on software only. I am using x4 as input (s1) , sk1000 (s2), and d4 (D) in monitoring mode when i am forcing X4 to ON/OFF ,  there is no any value change occure on d4 i have tried to change the s2 value from k1000 to k10000, but not fruitful i need your valuable support to confirm that my primary setup is correct or not and what things are required/missing attached program screeshot
  6. Monitoring a register

How do you ensure a time value in a memory register coming from an external device is constantly changing in an omron cj2 plc and trigger an alarm when it stops. At my company we scan in a work order with a barcode scanner tied to a different network than the one the plc is communicating to. We use a specific register in memory to determine if these two networks are communicating. We use a date time value in seconds going to that specific register, as long as the time continues to run we know we have a communication link. If that time ever stops in that register we know the communication link is severed. I need to know if there is logic that can be written in the plc to notify an operator when there is no communication link.

  8. I have a level measurement system by fmcw radar (Rosemount tankradar), for a filling-emptying process, of very large water chambers. Very sporadically, the radar is momentarily lost and measures 4 to 7 feet below the actual level, only when filling the water chamber.  Sometimes the measurement freeze in the middle of the filling process.  Due to the criticality of the process, this behavior is dangerous, as it can cause flooding inside the plant This behavior is very sporadically so we are baffled about the root cause of this problem.
  9. I have project where I need to measure motor current but I do not need to control the speed of the motor since it would always be running at full speed. Do I still need to use VFD to get feedback or is there cheaper way to measure the current?

  12. CJ2m and NB10

hello guys, My situation is, I have an HMI nb10 and PLC CJ2M-cpu31. My question is, how can I monitor my system with this two set up of Omron device thru online or web base . They are connected via ETN cable. What should I do and what are the ways to monitored it. please help me guys. Thank you.
  13. Hi to everyone, I use PowerFlex 520 drive on profibus (with adapter 25-COMM-P) for first time. I managed to start/stop/reference drive using Logic Command/Status I/O but didn't manage to get output current using datalinks mechanism. I configured DP master (Mitsubishi Q PLC, QJ71PB92V) as shown in the attached picture. The main problem is that trying to modify C161-C164 (Opt Data In 1-4) parameters drive does not accept the entered values and it turns back to value "0". First, I disabled I/O connection with the controller Disconnecting the drive from the network. On the other hand, drives allow me to change parameters C165-C168 (Opt Data Out 1-4) but these are out paramenetrs (from the controller's point of view). Is there any guy that managed to get the output current  in any way on profibus network? Thanks a lot for your help in advance! I post this message in Allen Bradley Forum, too.

  15. FX3G-2AD-BD Store Peak Value

Good day, I'm new to this forum and to mitsubishi PLC but was hoping for some assistance with a programming issue. I have been through the hardware and programming manuals without luck for this issue. Hardware: FX3G-60mt FX3G-2AD-BE Settings: Structured ladder/FBD Current input mode on: M8260 (first board, first input)   What I need to do is to record the peak value over a cylinder stroke period. The hardware manual explains how to average the value using averaging time, however I basically need to peak hold and send that to a D register for go no-go compare.    Process as follows: Contact closed, monitor D8260, contact open, move peak value from D8260 during monitor duration to D205.    Thanks in advance for any assistance. -Swervomotor

  18. Greetings, I've been having some issues with a vacuum pump breaker tripping... I think I've figured out the problem and resolved it but I noticed that several of the other motors have current monitoring on the HMI but the person who set this up is no longer with us.  I'm wondering what I need besides an analog input for my control logix processor (which I have) to setup this project.  I'm not sure if the other motors are just monitoring one leg of the 3 phases or if they are somehow showing total current?  any ideas and recommendations would be greatly appreciated.   thanks,
  19. I have been using a micrologix 1400 L32bxba. I have had a reoccurring problem of the contacts sticking on the processor. I have added diodes on the coils of the contactors. Using 700CB220EJ relays. I also have the problem of the leakage current being so high it pulls in the relays with the output off. Any help would be appreciated.
  20. Hello everybody, I am connecting my DCS digital output (115VAC) to AB PowerFlex 753 Digital Input. We are using the 20-750-2262D-2R I/O option in the powerflex which is 115VAC I/O with 2 Analog In, 2 Analog Out, 6 Digital In and 2 Relay Outputs. My question is, what is the current or power consumption of the PowerFlex DIs at 115VAC. I need to specify the right fuse size for my digital output. Thanks,
  21. Hello, anyone know how to make a logic that monitors the change in position of a carriage through some rails ?. In my application I measure the position of the carriage by means of a laser sensor and I have to detect if the laser beam is interrupted when the carriage is stationary or moving. I have implemented a logic as the adjunct file, but doesn't work.
