  1. Beckhoff Control panel testing?

I am a technician at a large repair facility and we often have Beckhoff control panel displays come in for repair. I'm having trouble using Twincat to set up the buttons on a CPxx to test the buttons and assignable leds. We have a PC running windows XP with the twincat software, a CP9035 pci card to connect the CP to the pc, i can see the PC's display on the CP and also recognize the CP in twincat, just unsure how to map testable functions to the keys on the CP. Hope this all makes sense. Hopefully there is a Twincat guru out there that knows how to do this. Thank you!!
  2. Ground Loop

Hello everyone, I have a quick question regarding Din rails, chassis ground and ground loops. Here is where I am getting confused. I connect my back panel to earth ground which, connects my control panel chassis to earth ground. I screw din rails on my back panel. Question #1: logically, my din rails are now connected to earth ground through the screws connecting to din rails to the back panel. Am I wrong here? As I have seen in many control panels, I connect a ground terminal block to my din rail and connect it to earth ground (the terminal block couples with the din rail through metal clamps). I now use that ground terminal block as a single point source to ground all my other components in the control panel (I connect my ground terminal block to earth ground using a wire).. *** the ten thousand dollar question is Didnt I just create a ground loop between my ground terminal block mounted on the din rail and my back panel chassis ground. For one reason or another the two different location might be at slightly different potentials causing current to flow. Where is my logic off here???? Thank you
  3. delta hmi communication speed

Hello, i have DOP-07s411 delta hmi and i want to interface it with microcontroller using modbus (RTU) protocol over RS485( 8 bit data,1 stop bit, parity none,19200 baud rate). i have good speed of communication if i do not use macros. But as i place background macro(background macro is only 4 lines ) it slow down and  updates the display at every 3 seconds. i cant able to figure out what is the problem. I want to update display of  HMI very fast. Please help me to troubleshoot the problem.
  4. Hi,  I'm trying to test the serial communications with my Micro820. I acquired a 2080-SERIALISOL so I could have "someone" to talk to. I want to use RS485, so I figured that I'd have to connect: Modbus pin 1 (D+) to serialisol pin A1 (+485) Modbus pin 2 (D-) to serialisol pin B4 (-485) Modbus pin 3 (GND) to serialisol pin A2 (GND) Now when it comes to CCW, the thing gets a little harder. I know I need to use the MSG_MODBUS block (in fact I need 2, one for the modbus and another one for the serialisol), and I guess I specify the interface I'm using on the TargetCfg field (data type MODBUSTARPARA). But how do I figure out that the Addr (UDINT) and Node (USINT) values are for my Modbus and Serialisol? Or am I doing it wrong? Does anybody know of any place where I can get some more guidance or even a funcional ladder program? Thank you in advance

  6. Dear All   Sorry for my English I have Siemens CM1241 (picture attach) and need to communicate with Intellisys XE 90 via Modbus RTU, period. The problem is, form XE 90 the connector is Phoenix Contact 2-Position Screw Plug Connectors MC 1,5/ 2-ST-3,81 1803578,or in other word, only 2 contacts form P9 COM1 = L1 , L2 (picture attach). How we connect it to DB9 Female in CM1241? What signal go to what Pin? How about the Ground? Do I need Resistor?   Thanks for all your supports   Best Regards

  8. Hello,  I am a newbie to the Omron world. We have a new machine come in made on Omron PLC, we are trying to get it connected to our OPC server so that the server can read and write tags via ther Ethernet/IP protocol. We have given out ethernet card 10.14.9.187 IP and the NJ501-1300 controller is on 192.168.250.1. But still our OPC server cannot see the tags/variables. I dunno if we have to add the ethernet communication card to the network configurator and add the tag sets ?  We are also getting a tag resolution error on sysmac studio while being online.    Thanks Pratik
  9. CP1E RS232 Setup

Hi everyone, I am fairly new here, I have a CP1E-N40DR-A And i need to send a string of data to a printer over rs232 from the built in port on the PLC, I have had a look online and canot find any information on what I need to do. all the tutorials are for CJ2 cpus ect and the instructions that I would normally use on a CJ2 dont work on CP1E PLC's. Any help or light shed would be great,  Thanks in advance
  10. Hello,   I am looking for examples on using serial communication with a WMS inside Studio 5000.  Sample programs would be ideal. And I would like to get some information on what blocks need to be used. e.g. Send, and Receive   Thanks!
  11. Master/Slave Communication

Hello guys, I am using Fatek PLC's to communicate with each other as a Master & Slave through zigbee which is connected through RS485. And I succeed. But the issue is that I have to communicate each other at a distance of about 2km where zigbee out of range to each other. I am bit confused here; 1) whether I use RF booster? Does it work? 2) Should I introduce extra PLC as a repeater between master slave? But this(extra added) PLC repeater also become as a master(Master Repeater).or any idea? Most important I can using Fatek Protocol or Modbus RTU or Modbus ASCII prootcol.
  12. hI.. I've asked for this in the past and, so far, haven't been very lucky.  Most of the projects I run into have 4 or 5 axis, lots of analog and sensor input.. or don't have the HMI part of the "Machine" I have a nice NJ 101-1000 with the NA 7 inch HMI.. along with a R88BD-KNA5L-ECT servo and a 50W  G5 motor.. type  R88M-K05030H-S2.  All On a nice rack with power supplies and some EtherCAT I/O  (It all functions .. even "MC Test Run" gets the motor to jog ..    But.. no way to "home" it.... The motor is in "rotary mode"   but... it's NOT got an Absolute encoder.. it's a incremental... sniff!     I just want it to stop on zero ..Or anywhere, and call it zero ... and make moves plus an' minus in degrees, that's all....  I assume I have to send it some signal (push button) while it's spinning that tells it it's in "Proximity" to home and it then it does something which makes it end up on zero.    I've homed a lot of linear motors (LinMot) an' they are very easy to work with.    But, Omron has 10 different homing modes .. and they aren't very well explained.  Well, they aren't explained at all in that 502 page user manual... you have to already know how to do it, in order to understand the explanation... Example:  Take the "Home Proximity Input Signal"  .. I can imagine what it might do, to help control a move to home.  I can even imagine what's making the signal .. and that somewhere there is a place where the homing parameters are set... like the "axis setting table"  .. but, it's not a Global Variable, or a Data Type .. I could imagine it gets into the system from the CN1 I/O connector? or some I/O somewhere? But.. I grow weary of imagining how this system actually works..  Building a simple working project, from a tutorial, or even downloading a simple working project (.smc2 file) and making the minor adjustments to fit my equipment ... would make all the difference in the world.   I've searched Omron's Libraries of .smc2 files.  Haven't found any yet that aren't on the level of "Top Gun" (a seriously complicated project for a 1-week training class) ... Oh there are several.. related to IAG object files .. but those Library files are not "working projects" intended to serve as a Tutorial.. they are limited projects, ready to be configured with IAG Object files, and "your" programming ... So that you can write the programs you need "faster"... which is nice... but, no help here. Somewhere out there.. is a nice simple .smc2 project file where you get to control a simple motor from the HMI  ..Preferably using an NJ CPU and a NA HMI .. home the motor.. jog the motor and input a few "go-to" positions... sigh!..   Like you would do in a One or Two Day class...   This kind of thing should be already be available in the Sysmac Library ... Thanks much for listening..  sorry about the rant.
  13. FX3U For GXworks2 and WinCC Flex

Hi, Is there any way in order to monitor both PLC(GXworks2) and HMI(WinCCFlex) using only 1 port from the PLC(FX3U)? I have tried it but I'm not able to communicate the other application(one at a time only).   Thanks!
  14. S7-300

Has anyone ever use a Allen Bradley 9300-ENA card with a Siemens S7-300?
  15. Hello, I am currently installing a PLC control panel and due to space constraints, we will need to install the Panelview 600 HMI separate from the Micrologix. We purchased a 50ft Allen Bradley communication cable, but 50ft will not be long enough. We have about 70 to 75ft of conduit between the panel and the HMI. I would like to know what options we have for this connection. I read that for serial connection, we shouldn't go past 50ft. I understand the Micrologix 1100 has an ethernet connection and the Panelview does as well, but I'm not sure what changes would be needed in order to communicate through the ethernet port, instead of the RS-232 port. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.   Thanks, JCG

  17. GE PLC PCM

The topic is based on "How to configure a PCM module in GE PLC". One new query in PCM. To configure this PCM Module some procedure is to be followed in CMD prompt. 18. Hi again I browse through half a dozen mitsubishi manuals but turn up nothing for mitsubishi plc cross-communication. In this project there are about six L-06 plc:s. All are on the same ethernet network already, communicating nicely with the SCADA system. Per today information is (temporarily) exchanged via the SCADA system. Here is another hole in my knowledge. Namely how to correctly setup communication between these plc:s. I plan to continuosly exchange some 50 bytes of information. I would be grateful for some pointers and/or perhaps a reference to a manual. Cheers to all of you //
  19. Hi.. Have to fix a failed USB driver install when using Sysmac Studio V1.17.  Trying to log into a NJ CPU .. Noticed on the PC's Device Manager the dreaded exclamation mark: Normally..right click on "Unknown device" and redo the driver installation .. but, ya have to know where the Path to the Omron file where the driver is stored  .. Anyone out there know where that driver is? I love the error window the new Studio pops up: None of those Helpful Hints make any sense, and 3 are kinda silly ...  I'm curious what #1 and #4 means ...  What do IP addresses have to do with USB functionality?   I think the HMI should have an IP address of 192.168.255. xxx   if you are going to connect using USB ... (the Ethernet IP is 192.168.250.2)   I guess I could change it on the home screen .. without logging in?     Then there's the "adapter" question .. there's only one that can be on (selected) at a time .. and it's IPv4 is set to 192.168.250.24  .. again.. what does that have to do with USB?       Aaaaagh! Thanks much for any insight to solving Omron connectivity issues.
  20. Hello all, I'm using MC Protocol Format 4 to communicate with a VB6 application on a PC. I want to make some slight modifications, and I am getting a sum check error being returned by the module to my application. I believe (haha) I am calculating the sum check code correctly for Format 4 as most commands do work (reading for example). I was wondering if anyone knew of the buffer memory location on the QJ71C24N card that stores what the card is calculating for the sum check? This way I can have a troubleshooting tool to see what I am calculating wrong. I have looked through the manuals (application/basic) for the C24 already as well as the Melsec Reference Protocol manual.  I have attached the error code for reference, again, I am only looking for what the C24 calculates as the sum check code. Thanks
  21. PLC won't connect with PC

Dear sir, My problem is I connected with PLC with cable and uploaded the program and it's working nice, but when I removed my cable and connected the monitor panel it have communication error, I connect my PC again it won't see the PLC, the PLC functions I/O is work but I can't connect with PC or monitor panel.  So if their any reset for communication port or the port is damage?
  22. Choosing the right OMRON PLC - Vacuum System

Hi All, I'm hoping someone can help me. We're currently in the very early stages of re-designing how our vacuum system works. Currently we have 6 vacuum pumps supplying around 8 different packaging machines which we currently have to turn on and off manually depending on the demand on the machines. The challenge is to design and implement a part or fully automated system to control the current vacuum pumps - The key requirements are Supply must equal demand for the vacuum pumps - so they are only used when neededAutomatic switch-off when not in useCycling the use of the vacuum pumps so as not to overuse oneAbility to take a pump out of the loop for service/breakdownsManual override/shut-offScope for expansionUser-friendly interface (possibly touch-screen/wireless)I am a complete novice when it comes to OMRON PLC work and would like some guidance on possibly similar projects or at least pointing in the right direction with which PLC to go for. Thanks for your time Jack
  23. Hi All. I have AB PLC Micrologix 1500 and HMI PV600. In factoryTalkView ME I have installed RSLinx Enterprise and I have setup communication setting I have created one shortcut like PLC1 linked it to PLC ML1500 which I can see in right side of setting pan. I copied these settings to Runtime target. Now while giving animation in screen e.g. colour, I am trying to browse tag but it's not showing anything in online folder. I clicked show all server, refreshed all folders and restarted RSLinks Enterprise service also but still can not find tags. I ran runtime on PC using OPC created in RSLinx Classic, Its working fine, I can browse tags. But it's not working while I download it in HMI as I can see in HMI configuration network and comm setting there is only RSLinx Enterprise is available. Please suggest me solution on this issue.
  24. We are communicating FX3GE PLC with Vijeo Citect SCADA. We tried various protocols such as MelsecNET, MelsecFX2N, Melsec1, etc. If you know how please help.
