  1. Hello, recently I tried to hook up a new CJ2M-CPU31 (built-in EIP Port) with a NS10-TV01-V2, which has an Ethernet/IP connection also. I made the simple setting as usual : 1. PLC, IP Address 192.168.250.1, Sub 255.255.255.0, FINS Node 1, no change to FINS/UDP parameter (Auto Dynamic Generation) 2. HMI, IP Address 192.168.250.2, Sub 255.255.255.0, FINS Node 2, Register the Host as EIP, SYSMAC-CJ2 mode with the PLC IP, Disables the Serial Port For some reason, there is no communication between NS and CJ2M (timeout error always occurs). I tried to re-register the Host as FINS, set the Node to 1, and also with no avail. I did try to connect the NS to a CP1L-EM with FINS Comm. and it works fine. Anything I did miss? Thanks in advance
  2. I have new compactlogix plc L43, it was 1.4 firmware rev and when i try to upgrade the firmware the communication lost during upgrade , I make this upgrade using Serial communication (very slowwwwww) Now i cannot see the plc on RSlinix and cannot communicate with it I know that if the communication loss during firmeare upgrade, the PLC will be stop and it should return back to allen bradley any one have soloution for this problem ??????????????
  3. Hello I'm looking for a way to setup communication between a PC and a PLC. The PLC is an Allen Bradley compactlogix L30ER i would like to use the existing network which is a Ethernet setup. I've read and tried some OPC/DDE sample project with Excel and I'm wondering if there is a better way to do it. Thanks!
  4. I'm trying to use CX-Server to pull data from my Omron CJ2H PLC directly into Excel. I'm able to pull a single element into excel, but when I try to pull more than one element, I get a huge strand of numbers. Is there a way that I can set up a single point in DDE Manager that'll hold all the elements that I need, then in excel have a formula that will pull out specific memory elements. Specifically I'm trying to pull data from D7200-D7399, and put each element into a separate cell it in a chart that ranges from B3-K22 This is what the formula looks like when I copy a point into excel =CDMDDE|'C:\Users\... ....cdm'!'\New Point 1' I didnt know if I could put something at the end of each string to call out specific elements, but I keep getting "#BadPoint" =CDMDDE|'C:\Users\... ....cdm'!'\New Point 1'!'D7200' =CDMDDE|'C:\Users\... ....cdm'!'\New Point 1'!'D7201' ... =CDMDDE|'C:\Users\... ....cdm'!'\New Point 1'!'D7399' Any help would be great

  6. Hi. I'm taking a class through my job (I'm an industrial maintenance technician), and they've offered us the schooling through our local community college. They bring the trainers and laptops to our site, and we have class there. We're in our "PLC II" class, and we're using CompactLogix 5332E 1769-L32E PLCs with PanelView Plus Compact 400 HMIs. I'm having issues with getting my PLC to work properly with the HMI. I have a very simple program. A pushbutton turns on a timer with blinks a light. I have my tags as Green_On and Output_Green. They're obviously aliases for Local:1:Data.0 and Local.2:O.Data.0. I created a screen in FactoryTalk View ME, and gave it two simple pushbuttons. One a Maintained and one a Momentary. I created tags in the HMI, and linked them to the tags in the PLC. I have the button properties set as such: I create the runtime application and send it to the HMI. When I push the buttons on the HMI, I get no response from the PLC. If I push the manual pushbutton on the trainer, the PLC reacts appropriately and the buttons on the HMI change state (from the tag indicator). What am I doing wrong? Obviously the HMI is seeing the PLC, because the pushbuttons are updating the to tags change in state from 0 to 1. Why is it when I press the buttons, I'm not writing the value to the tags and the PLC changing state? I've talked to the instructor, but he's been retired for some time, and while he's given us a good overview of the basics, he's a bit out of his depth.
  7. Hi, I have AB Micro820 PLC (2080-LC20-20QBB) which, acc. to the specs, can be both Ethernet/IP master and slave. I need it to be a master(scanner) and communicate with a KEYENCE DL-EP1 module, which is Ethernet/IP slave(adapter), but don't see any way to make that happen. How do you declare/configure Ethernet/IP slaves in Connected Components Workbench and how do you add slaves to your CCW project? I have an EDS file for the slave, but what to do with it? I imported it (have no idea where) with the EDS hardware installation tool which reported all was OK, but do not see the slave anywhere in the CCW. I only see in the Device Toolbox > Discover, but the only available option there is to remove it :) Thanks for any suggestions. Peter

  10. CX-Supervisor can't runtime

hello guys, i got a little bit problem with my cx-supervisor 3.2. when i clicked the cx-supervisor development project, the message showed that cx-server detected a problem during initialitation. But it could enter the program with the new message again that access to the cx-server project has been denied and finally it surely could not runtime. After that i tried to fix it with uninstall and re-install but the result was the same. Please i need help to solve this problem. i have fixed it as much as i can it didnt work. Thank You Best regard
  11. Hello! I am creating a project with Logix Designer, version 24. In the project I am using 1734-AENTR/B devices in etherner/IP-bus. I find out that there is only old versions of Logix Designer, only Major version 3 and 4 but the device that I have is the version 5. So I downloaded this EDS-file from Rockwell support-pages and installed it with EDS HW tool. After this, I can not choose this device 1734-AENTR/B with Major version 5. How to get this installed version to the project? After installation I have reboot my programming device and there is not RS Linx running in my computer.
  12. Hello. I searched for an answer for this but it is still not very clear to me. I have a new Guardlogix 1756-L72S. I would like to create a project to work with it with firmware version 20.13. I have RSlogix5000 v20.01(CPR 9 SR 5) which should be compatible with it (in fact I can open projects with another guardlogix that have that firmware version) BUT when I create my new porject, the firmware version RSLogix5000 puts is v20.11 1. How could I create a project with the firmware version 20.13 for my guardlogix? (Didn't find an AOP for this) 2. If I update the guardlogix to firmware 20.13 with the CONTROLFLASH, could I still be able to go online and work with it, even though my project has a different firmware version? Thanks!
  13. Hello everyone, I will be working on an automation project with an AB PLC, but so far I have only worked with Siemens. The system requirements are the following: Modular PLC that supports Ethernet communication (To use a PanelView), 10 DI, 10 DO, 10 AI and 10 AO at least and capabilities for ON/OFF and PID control instructions. I have been checking the selection guides for the SLC 500 System and the CommpactLogix System, but only found the PID instructions capabilities in the SLC 500. Probably the 1756 Controllers are too big for the I/O number necessity. I would like to get some advice about this selection, I am almost sure that the SLC will do the job, but if some other one that's smaller and more economical can have the aforementioned capabilities it'll be a better choice. Thanks in advance
  14. I'll set the scene a little before I explain the issue that I am having. I have an application where I have a Linear Servo Slide acting as a Press Kick-off cylinder on a ceramic press. In order to trigger this Slide accurately, I have installed an Absolute Rotary Encoder (a Turck product) to the press, which outputs an Analog signal for its specific position. I then have this as an input into my CompactLogix L33ERM through a 1769-IF4 Analog Input card. Within my code, I'm trying to capture the moment where the press has presented the part out of the die and it can be ejected from the press cavity without damage the part. Mis-timing on this ejection and the part will clip the die pad tooling and incur damage upon ejection. Now, one last point of clarification, I am a Mechanical Engineer by trade, so I don't claim to be an expert programmer. But I have learned a lot and have gained experience in programming applications like this, so I can learn quick and should be able to program this task. I have had my local Allen Bradley guy look at the code I'm using for this application, and he thinks it looks good, but I'm still having issues. What I have done, is within the code, I have a window that I look for, of the encoder's position, to trigger the ejection shoe to fire its sequence and kick the part off. However, I have had to make this window so large in order for the code to see it every press cycle, that occasionally, the ejection shoe will be fired at the back end of the window, which is actually too late, and my part is being damaged. Attached is a snapshot of the code. The OkSamplePress.DN is actually a timer that I have that looks at the current press rate and puts a delay in to not allow the kick-off to fire too early, because I was actually getting a glitch before where the kick-off would fire prematurely for some reason. I don't know if anyone can offer assistance on this or not, but I would greatly appreciate any help at all. Its become quite frustrating, as the rest of my machine functions quite well, and this seems to be the nagging issue I can't get rid of. Thanks in advance...Josh
  15. Omron<-->Bosh Rexroth Ethernet/IP

Hi, I'm trying to set up communication between a cj2m plc and an indra drive servo driver from bosch rexroth over ethernet/ip. Tried following a youtube video from rexroth explaining how simple this drive is to set-up with a 3rd party plc.... I have no experience with ethernet/ip, but what the video describes, i can't seem to do with omrons network configurator. more specific info on my equipment. Indra drive: HCS01.1E-W0013-A-02-B-ET-EC-NN-NN-NN-FW Firmware: FWA-INDRV*-MPB-17VRS-D5-1-NNN-NN PLC: CJ2M-Cpu31. rexroth info says there is no eds file for this firmware, i have to use a generic ethernet module, and set up from there. I've tried everything i can think of and implemented all googled info i've got to no effect, can't get communication. Any help getting this drive running is very appreciated. Thanks, Frank
  16. I have camera Keyence connected via ethernet to the S7-1200. In the cameras can be set about 30 "tools". Each "tool" perform a different function in the image. In what way in the program code on S7-1200 I can read eg Tool number 10? For example, if tool 10 is the correct I want to to value 1 on some tag for eg camera_tool1. Thank you in advance for any help. Regards Mikołaj
  17. Q. Is anyone aware of a manufacturer of ethernet power adapters that work on 575V (600V)? There are plenty of adapters for 100-240V, Linksys PLSK400 Powerline AV 4-Port Network Adapter Kit but I need them for 575V. Any help greatly appreciated. Many thanks!
  18. Hey, this may be an obvious question, but here goes: I have a CompactLogix L36ERM running RL5000 controlling one of our lead die cast machines. When I make a change to the program offline and need to download I always go and shut the machine down for safety reasons before downloading. One of our techs stopped the machine but left the control power and hydraulic pump on while downloading (something we are not supposed to do) when he finished downloading he switched it back to run mode and the machine closed on it's own and started right back up. This is a safety concern to me. We have a "close enable" tag that is true when all necessary conditions are met, and gets latched on when the machine is running in full auto. Before he downloaded the machine was at idle, meaning that the only way to close the machine would be to press the two dead-man switches to start the process. But, when he downloaded it started up automatically. Now I know the reason why is when the program was last saved, the "close enable" tag had a value of 1, it was latched on, so it bypassed the dead-man switches. A quick fix would be to save the program with that tag un-latched so that it can't start up on it's own after downloading. But, in case somebody saves the program while the machine is running and with that tag latched on, I need a better solution. Is there any tag or bit that goes true when a program is downloaded or when the mode of the PLC is switched from run to download to run? I want to manipulate that tag so that when I download it un-latches the "close enable" tag. I'm sure there is a way to do it, I'm just not even really sure what to search for in the online help. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Howard
  19. Hello, I am trying to communicate with MicroLogix 1100 from CompactLogix. But I keep getting an error and It says connection failure. This is what I have done so far. Can anyone tell me what I am missing? Regards,
  20. Automation professionals, I would like to read the display values of a red lion DP700 in a control logix PLC. I was able to successfully integrate both devices through EtherNet / IP and I am geting the corresponding values in a DINT register in the PLC. But the problem is that the value in the PLC register is not in the same format as in the DP700 display. The display reads the length of a product in inches like 288.484 etc. Where as the value in the register is a 10 digit number like 1133526516. For sure, there is a definite correlation between these two values but I am not able to figure out the exact relationship as a function of a formula. I have given below 25 data pairs for your analysis. I tried to find out the scaling factor (slope and offset). The scaling that I found fit the first 10 records but did not fit the remaining 15 records Can you help me to find out the relationship between the ? # DP700 PLC register 1 288484 1133526516 2 288627 1133531202 3 288631 1133531333 4 288739 1133534872 5 288741 1133534937 6 288742 1133534970 7 288746 1133535101 8 288757 1133535461 9 288776 1133536084 10 288796 1133536739 11 241060 1131482972 12 241043 1131481858 13 241027 1131480809 14 241032 1131481137 15 241055 1131482644 16 241038 1131481530 17 241078 1131484152 18 241025 1131480678 19 241030 1131481006 20 241037 1131481465 21 241040 1131481661 22 241023 1131480547 23 241053 1131482513 24 241041 1131481727 25 241077 1131484086
  21. Hi ALL, Can Schneider Electric CitecSCADA 6.10 talk to AB Micrologix 1100 via a Ethernet Interface Communication Module [1761-NET-ENI ]? And what Citec Driver can I use to set this up? Thanks Chris
  22. Hey guys, so I feel like I must be doing something wrong here, well obviously since I cant get it to work. So I have a CompactLogix L36ERM running RSLogix5000, I've got 28 cards in total, all working except for one. My 1769-OF8V Analog Ouptut module. I just want to be able to output a 0-10v signal to a proportional valve module, specifically a Parker PCD00. Anyways, so I am online with the processor, everything is looking good, I/O is responding. I have the specific channel on that output module enabled in the module properties. I have tried changing the data type to every different option, I have raised and lowered the limits. I think I am addressing it correctly. I am just trying to move a value into that channel's data file. It appears to be moving the number in just fine, but when I put a meter on the output for that channel, I get 0V from the output to analog com. There is a little switch inside the module that allows you to use rack power or external 24V, I tried switching it down and using an external 24VDC source, I currently have it switched up to use the rack power. I'm lost. If somebody could please help me out and tell me if there is something obvious that I'm missing or doing wrong/ take me through an easy step by step way of setting this up for basic 0-10v output, that would be great. Sorry for being so new, I have attached a couple screenshots of the logic I'm using and the way I have it configured right now, but I have tried all different configurations. Thanks, Howard
  23. This is my company's first time using a Mitsubishi PLC and our partners/clients advised us against using the built-in Ethernet port on the Q03UDE CPU, saying that we should instead use a standalone QJ71E71 Ethernet module. The QJ71E71 costs 1.5x the CPU module so there are significant savings in using the built-in Ethernet. They cited reliability issues but can anyone here back up their claim? We use our PLCs as simple I/O blocks - a PC runs a program which communicates with the PLC and tells it what outputs to fire. There is no actual ladder logic on the PLC. The PC connects directly to the PLC. I wrote a small C# utility that blasts the QX40 and QY80 input/output cards on my stack with random values and reads them back to ensure correct data transfer. The QJ71E71 Ethernet module averages 10 ms for a read or write operation and the Q03UDE averages 3 or 4 ms (much quicker!). So, does anyone have a reason to use the QJ71E71 port instead of the CPU? Thanks
  24. Hi all, So this is more of a theory / how would you attack this problem, question: I'm creating my first HMI and while playing around in FactoryTalk View Studio I noticed I can add objects to a screen. I can add a browser and with some work I can get it to display an HMTL file directly in the screen. So the browser in this case is opening a file stored locally, not something served up from the internet. Which opens up the question, could I write most of my HMI in HTML and Javascript? As a previous developer having the ability to control more of the UI would be amazing and perhaps easier to use/maintain. The only pitfall that I haven't been able to figure out is how to get real time values from the PLC. I'd welcome anyone's input on the idea in general or if someone knows a good method for getting/setting values from the PLC. Thanks!
  25. Failed to connect to the PLC

Hi, I have suddenly got connection problems to my CJ2H-64EIP. PC is Win7 64bit pro. This combination has worked fine for 4 years, but now I can't connect by any means, tried direct online USB (Will sometimes connect, but CX-P crashes if PLC-program is uploaded - C++ runtime), Ethernet IP Node online, new project with Ethernet IP or USB. Communication to CX-Supervisor is also broken, so I suspect some kind of CX-Server problem. (Error "Invalid configuration: Marvin [CX-Server: MANAGER, INVALID_CONFIG, 0x822]). The PLC can be PINGed from this PC, and when I try to connect from another PC, everything is OK. I can also connect to a CS1G-43H with an ETN21 with no problems. Also tried to update CX-One to v 4.32. (CX-P v9.52) (first running the latest CX-Remover). The CXServer Driver management tool reports device driver v5.2 with my PLC listed. I have also tried to roll back some Windows updates, but the oldest restore point I could find did not help. Finally, when I try to load a program for this PLC from the disk, CX-Programmer crashes, same as above when uploading. Any ideas? Geir
