  1. I'm an automation tech in a tool and manufacturing facility.  Lately, we've quoted a few projects for customers that include tooling (stamping dies usually) as well as some partial automation.  The automation is fairly simple usually...motor, drive, actuator to transfer material in 2 axes, e.g.  The company president and quoting engineers don't think it's a big deal for us to do this, but I'm a little wary to agree to these projects.  I have 2 years experience doing all sorts of small programming tasks, wiring, control panel design and build, troubleshoot, etc. However, I also know that there are a lot of industry and safety standards to follow when you start machine building/integrating for customers.  The tooling build is straightforward and is our forte.  But we have no electrical/controls engineers, and we have no standards really for automation "builds".  I've done smaller projects for us and I'm trying to develop some sort of standards, but there was nothing like that when I came into this position.   Anyway, should I undertake these sorts of projects in your opinion or not? And if I would, what sort of knowledge/standards should I master in terms of liability and safety, and where would be a good place to start in developing a wiring/electrical schematic standard? Thanks for your assistance. Andrew
  2. MDS instruction would not complete

Hany any you of guys dealt with MDS instruction not completing and being stuck on .EN bit but the motor itself just stopped running out of nowhere? I did read the tech note on this on Rockwell's website. Am mostly wondering if any of you have dealt with this and what you did to fix this.
  3. CP1L-EM Socket Communication

Good afternoon. I am trying to carry out the communication of a CP1L-EM by TCP socket with a scale module, however I still haven't been successful. I have the Open_socket, Send_Socket and Close_Socket blocks. I tried to make a Receive_socket block but I don't know if something is wrong. Does anyone have the Receive_Socket block tested with CP1L-EM available to supply me? I am very grateful!
  4. Hello everyone! This is the first time I use Micro850 controller (2080-LC50-48QWB) and after I made a really simple programme (just for testing) I wanted to download it to my controller (which I was able to see and connect to via Ethernet and USB normally) and I got a message saying that firmware version didn't match (programme - v9, and PLC - v4). So I found some datasheet where was explained how to upgrade device firmware with ControlFLASH. I started the mentioned software, choose the right controller, and I choose the version 9 and the process started, but near the end I got the ERROR message, and the update wasn't finished successfully. So my controller went to fault (FAULT red light flashes) and now I can not see it in RSLinx nor via Ethernet nor USB. Does anyone have any idea what could I do to try to establish connection with my controller? I have tried to change from prog mode to run, and back to prog, but the fault remains. I really hope that I didn't make some serious mistake, because we need this PLC very soon for work. Thanks  in advance!
  5. Kinetix 3 firmware

Hi, Can anyone advise on how to upgrade the firmware on Kinetix 3 drives (2071-AP8 Series A)? There is a firmware update option in Ultraware, but when I try that it says something like f/w version does not support upgrade. Is it actually possible to upgrade them at all? You can download new versions from the AB website, which suggests it must be possible. They currently have v2.00, and latest version is v2.23. I know these are old drives, but they still work so might as well get some use out of them. Thanks, James.
  6. R04CPU old firmware

Hi all :) I'm looking for old iQ-R firmware (r04cpu), does anyone know where i can get hold of those? (Ver40 and before)    Thanks! YR
  7. Hello everybody I have strange effects when connection MODBUS TCP IO-Boxses from my FX5U-80xx. So I thought about looking for network issues fixed in the firmware. So, the website below has firmware 1.201 and I have 1.110 currently. Does anybody know where to look for the revision history of these Firmware fixes? https://www.mitsubishielectric.com/fa/download/software/cnt/plc/index.html#js_swdata_cat_9 The Japanese have some more info here: https://www.mitsubishielectric.co.jp/fa/download/software/detailsearch.do?mode=software&kisyu=/plcf&shiryoid=0000000051&lang=1&select=0&softid=1&infostatus=8_1_1&viewradio=1&viewstatus=&viewpos= Translate:  "New functions added in firmware version 1.201 (2019/11) For details on the additional functions, refer to "Addition and modification of functions" in the related manual "MELSEC iQ-F FX5 User's Manual (Application)". The CPU unit serial number can be used from "17X ****" or later." I was not able to download these manuals (Japanese login screen). So I googled it and found it. But I was not able to find it in this document.  If someone knows more. Would be nice.  Thank you DWIM
  8. Can I download an old program (written with RS Logix 500 version 5.2) into a newer SLC 5/04 Series C with a higher FRN than my copy of RS Logix supports? I don't want to use any newer functionality. Just wanting to get a spare 5/04 and load the application software on so it is ready to swap out in the event of a failure. I see some 5/04's on eBay that are new in box but have a FRN of 11 which wasn't out at the time my version of RSLogix was created.
  9. new to mr.plc....also first post on forum.. i have used omron software for years but i just came across brackets in an  instruction. i understand how the MOV works..moves data to a destination but what does the bracketed [dxxxx] mean. move to both locations? or something else? i need to understand this for future project. thanks also if there are rule to posting or if i did something wrong please advise.
  10. Dear All, TM241CE40R is installed with firmware 4.0.3.18 If I buy new CPU with some other firmware, will it work or I will need to change the firmware?
  11. Hi all,  I am trying to update the firmware of a NS12-TS01B-V2. I have downloaded the RecoverUpdate_8_95.exe (and someothers) from the myomron website. I have followed the instrucctions PDF, but when I switch on the HMI with the Compact Flash inserted, nothing happens: the screen is dark and the led is lit orange (not blinking).  The compact flash is 1GB (not omron) and formated using a CJ2. I have been using this card in OMRON PLCs and HMIs for years without problems.  I read in other topic than I guy had similar problems and he solved it using other computer and other unzipper program. I have tried it, but it did not work.  After that, I tried to update it using the DIP switches, but I got more problems, because I got a Warning first, and later an Error, because I forced the installation of the Firmware of the NS8 (BANK1) instead of the NS12. However, the other BANK folder contains the FW for the NS5... Anyway, I could fix this error because previously I did a backup of the already installed system (V7.0). I would like to ask you to send me a BackUp of another NS12, using the "Manual Transfer", that should works. I need the 8.20 version or higher.  Thanks a lot.  My email is hector.moreno.lax@gmail.com
  12. Dear All, 2094-BM01-SA0192 was installed on a machine, now we are installing 2094-BM01-SB1111 Problem is that when we Power ON, it start showing 0,1,2 and remains on 2 while in old SA0192, it goes to 1,2,3 and 4 then comes to normal display. can anyone suggest the solution? waiting
  13. Hello,I am sizing a feeder circuit for a panel according to UL 508A and came into a question:My input current is of 76.5 A (considering all the loads), thus, it is fine for me to use a cable of 4 AWG (max. 85A @ 75 c).For the circuit breaker I did 76.5 A x 1.25 = 96 A and then I selected a breaker of 100A.My question is: Is it ok for me to keep this configuration according to UL 508A? 100A breaker + 4 AWG load side cableOr do I need to level up the cables?Thank you very much in advance!
  14. does anyone have any example code or experience using the RHC and TDF commands? i need to calculate speed based off of and input pulse. i know what the diameter, tooth count and pitch are of the gear i'm measuring and also have to relate this to the diameter of another gear. i'm hoping Ken Roach has some words of wisdom, i do appreciate advice from anyone. Thanks in advance.
  15. Hello everyone! I am new to Eplan, and I am working on a big project on which someone else has worked on before me and almost finished it, but with a lot of technical mistakes and missing peaces. My boss expects me to fix a lot of things, but I have no experience with this software, so I could use some help. The problem is that no revision information (revision date, description, approved by etc) is displayed in this project, and I don't know how to make it appear, and be correct. I have made changes in plot frame and added special texts which should display these data, but I don't know where should I define wanted information (for example, I put special text for "approved by" but I can't seem to find adequate place to write the name of that person)? And, is there a way for Eplan to generate automatically revision description, based on the changes I made? From all said, it is obvious that I have no idea at all how revisions work, so any help would be enormously appreciated Thank you in advance! Cheers

  18. Hello everyone, we have two damaged analog cards for CompactLogix PLC ( 1769-OF8C  & 1769-IF8) that we are going to replace. my experience is with Siemens and Schneider PLC's  but for Allen Bradley, not so much so my question is : are there any requirements or specification other than the part-number that could prevent the cards from going in service directly ? as for the firmware, series and so on ?  and do i need to do any extra work after replacing the card ? thank you Best Regards

  20. F940GOT firmware

Hi everybody, My client got a problem with F940GOT HMI, probably due to its lithium battery has dicharged. We have managed to find it and to replaced the battery, then have downloaded the working copy of the HMI program, which was uploaded from GOT to PC in good time, when the equipment was working fine. However after that not all is working well, something went wrong: there are unexpectable symbols on the HMI screen, undefined in the project... Perhaps, the HMI got a problem with its firmware... Therefore the questions are: 1) Where is to find the firmware? (may be somebody has it)  2) How to download the firmware into HMI? Thanks in advance for a quick answer and help, because the issue is quite urgent !
  21. Add On Instructions Parameters

I am trying to learn how to use add-on instructions, and to get a better understanding I am trying to do a simplified example. I am trying to make two separate add on instructions that alter an integer tag in different ways. I would like one AOI that multiplies the input integer by 3 and another AOI that adds 3. The integer tag is a InOut parameter.  I named these AOIs "Mult3" and "Add3". When trying to use the AOI's it requires me to have an additional input with datatype the same as the AOI ("Mult3" or "Add3"). I have a couple of questions about this: 1. Why is this data type required? It seems to me that I would only need the InOut integer that I want to modify. 2. I want to use these AOI's in a number of places throughout my code on a number of tags. Would I be able to just use one "Mult3" tag for all the AOI's, or would I need a seperate tag for each use of the AOI?  For Instance if I am using the Mult3 AOI in 3 separate places in my code, two times using "Int1" as the InOut parameter and another time using "Int2" as the InOut parameter, could I just make one tag of "Mult3" datatype and use that for all the instances of the AOI, or would that screw it up in some way. Thanks for any help.
