  1. Hello everyone. I've been utilizing this forum for a while now, but this is my first time posting. I am very "green behind the gills" in the PLC programming world. I am learning as I go so please be patient with me. I have a display on my HMI that shows all of our PLCs in the field and what mode they are in. I am needing to also display the firmware revision that each PLC has. Is this possible to pull the firmware revision as a tag so I can display it on my HMI? I am using majority of 1769-L35E with a few micrologix 1400s. Thank you.
  2. I have not run across this before and wouldn't have even noticed except when trying to flash with Control Flash Plus to latest FW.  The Module doesn't report a SN it's all 0's. It seems to be functional otherwise except unable to Flash.  Not sure if I really need to Flash but was going to try it out. Anyway, I read where it was mentioned that no serial number may mean something wrong with the module. Is that accurate?

I've got a compact logix 1769-L33ER and a 1769-ASCII serial interface card, I'm trying to configure to print alarming and process status to a serial printer.  For the life of me I've been unable to successfully make this work. I know it's capable but I can't find any program with the basic information on setup or configuration.  Has anyone got a very basic starting point program they are willing to share or base line instructions to accomplish this task. I've now got several people asking for the same thing and I'm unable to figure it out.  Thank you in advance!! Duane

Hi.  My name is Jim, and I am brand new to this forum.  I see posts related to ProSoft Gateways, and hoped there might be some here that could advise me on setting up a test station that will use ENET/IP to control a WeldTechCorp Anybus Profinet control using the PLX32-EIP-PND gateway.   1769-L32E CompactLogix A-B PLC (ENET-IP) to PLX32-EIP-PND to MW6000 Anybus Profinet MFDC Weld Control.   The concept is to do away with our SIEMENS S7-300 PLC that would connect to the welder.  This is a closed network for a test process, and  hopefully very simple, essentially only involving these three components.  A-B PLC to gateway to Welder. Am I missing any key things?  I read a few posts, many 8 years or older,  I appreciate any who can take the time, if you have the experience.  Also, if you know other resources about ProSoft, or should I be asking ProSoft directly?

    Hi all. I have a 1769-IT6 thermocouple/mv input module. It is connected to a micrologix 1500 unit. The green okay light illuminates on power up, but after you download the program and put it in run mode the processor faults. Terminal block with the cjc's are on the unit. The error message just says the I/O module has encountered an error. The hex code under status bit 6 is 179h. This error code is not in the manual. Has anyone else encountered this? Oh and I only have channel 0 enabled for type k thermocouple. Has anyone else had this issue, or know if it is a configuration issue. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. 
  6. Hi and thanks for youre time  I am a newbie trying to connect to a 1769-L30ERMS using an Ethernet cable. I am using Studio 5000 and RSLinx Classic lite for programming and communication. However Studio 5000 and RSLinx Classic lite are installed on av virtual machine using VMware.  So my problem is two fold. Connect the VM so that it reads from the real computers ethernet port Find and communicate with the PLC from the VM There are guides on how these problems are addressed seperatly. For example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdArYVceO1I and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERLTvcBBK_w however I have not been able to get them to work together. So I was wondering if you, the sages of PLC programming might have some tips or trix that I could test or perhaps even a guide for how to do? Mvh Eric

  10. hello, I want to ask, maybe some of you know about this, I want to take a program on compactlogix but it has a firmware version 19.xx while the rslogix application I have is version 21.xx, there are several options offered by the application to be able to take the program, update the firmware in compactlogix or downgrade the rslogixku application to version 19.xx. if i upgrade the firmware in compactlogix, what about the program is the program safe or not, and if i upgrade the firmware will the program in compactlogix work properly?

I've a PVP6 1250, firmware 10.001, need to flash this to take a FTV rev.12 project.  Downloaded the rev 12 firmware from the rockwell site (PVP6_700-1500_12.00-20200922), unzip, install, run controlflash and it does not see the new firmware.  ok, I see where the controlflash file needs to be a .DMK, this installed a .FUP file. Tried running controlflash plus, goes through its "loading firmware kits" and "building inventory" steps.  It does see the panelview but reports no firmware found. What am I missing, its been a handful of years since I've last done a panelview flash.  And of course I'm getting "now now now, fast fast fast, hurry, hurry, hurry, why isnt it done yet"

    I am looking help with an issue I have trying to connect to a 5370 Controller 1769-L33ER. The controller firmware is 20.014 and my studio does not have 20.014 firmware. I have downloaded the firmware and do not know how to get it extracted to my PC. Any help with this will be grateful.  Regards
  13. tldr: How can I release/close CIP connections to a 1769-L35E CompactLogix (rev. 17.12)? Starting having communications issues with the controller out of nowhere - no recent changes, been running for years, etc. Tag update rates on the Wonderware InTouch sessions are really slow and could not get online with the controller until the Wonderware DAS was disabled, thereby freeing up a connection. Max number of allowed CIP connections is 32, but, per Task Monitor, there are 35 active connections. How can I drop all CIP connections so that only the valid ones come back? Anyway to do it without cycling power or going from run->prog->run? There are a number of cached message blocks, a  1794-AENT FlexIO Adapter, 10 other generic ethernet devices, and the connection to the WW DAS.   Thank you for your help.

  15. Hello Im using a 1769 HSC card with a L35E and trying to get the RPM. Ive been reading through forums for a couple days trying all the ideas from people who have had similar issues but I still cant get the current.rate(x) working.  Im using a single channel encoder at 60ppr. I believe the card is set up right and the channel is enabled. The counter seems to work fine but the rate stays 0 when im spinning the encoder slow but will jump to  100 or 200 if I spin it fast.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Looking for some help that i cant seem to find online - I have a  CompactLogix 5370 L1 Controller part number 1769-L16ER-BB1B and would like to connect a 1769-IF4 and a 1769-OF2 Analog expansion modules. Rockwell sales tell me they are compatible The Compactlogix looks to be a "slide in" and the expansion modules are Plug Type. Is there a cable or base rack I can use? Thanks in advance.
  17. Hello everyone! This is the first time I use Micro850 controller (2080-LC50-48QWB) and after I made a really simple programme (just for testing) I wanted to download it to my controller (which I was able to see and connect to via Ethernet and USB normally) and I got a message saying that firmware version didn't match (programme - v9, and PLC - v4). So I found some datasheet where was explained how to upgrade device firmware with ControlFLASH. I started the mentioned software, choose the right controller, and I choose the version 9 and the process started, but near the end I got the ERROR message, and the update wasn't finished successfully. So my controller went to fault (FAULT red light flashes) and now I can not see it in RSLinx nor via Ethernet nor USB. Does anyone have any idea what could I do to try to establish connection with my controller? I have tried to change from prog mode to run, and back to prog, but the fault remains. I really hope that I didn't make some serious mistake, because we need this PLC very soon for work. Thanks  in advance!
  18. Hi, Can anyone advise on how to upgrade the firmware on Kinetix 3 drives (2071-AP8 Series A)? There is a firmware update option in Ultraware, but when I try that it says something like f/w version does not support upgrade. Is it actually possible to upgrade them at all? You can download new versions from the AB website, which suggests it must be possible. They currently have v2.00, and latest version is v2.23. I know these are old drives, but they still work so might as well get some use out of them. Thanks, James.

  20. Hello everybody I have strange effects when connection MODBUS TCP IO-Boxses from my FX5U-80xx. So I thought about looking for network issues fixed in the firmware. So, the website below has firmware 1.201 and I have 1.110 currently.   21. Can I download an old program (written with RS Logix 500 version 5.2) into a newer SLC 5/04 Series C with a higher FRN than my copy of RS Logix supports? I don't want to use any newer functionality. Just wanting to get a spare 5/04 and load the application software on so it is ready to swap out in the event of a failure. I see some 5/04's on eBay that are new in box but have a FRN of 11 which wasn't out at the time my version of RSLogix was created.

  23. Hi all,  I am trying to update the firmware of a NS12-TS01B-V2. I have downloaded the RecoverUpdate_8_95.exe (and someothers) from the myomron website. I have followed the instrucctions PDF, but when I switch on the HMI with the Compact Flash inserted, nothing happens: the screen is dark and the led is lit orange (not blinking).  The compact flash is 1GB (not omron) and formated using a CJ2. I have been using this card in OMRON PLCs and HMIs for years without problems.  I read in other topic than I guy had similar problems and he solved it using other computer and other unzipper program. I have tried it, but it did not work.  After that, I tried to update it using the DIP switches, but I got more problems, because I got a Warning first, and later an Error, because I forced the installation of the Firmware of the NS8 (BANK1) instead of the NS12. However, the other BANK folder contains the FW for the NS5... Anyway, I could fix this error because previously I did a backup of the already installed system (V7.0). I would like to ask you to send me a BackUp of another NS12, using the "Manual Transfer", that should works. I need the 8.20 version or higher.  Thanks a lot.  My email is hector.moreno.lax@gmail.com
  24. Dear All, 2094-BM01-SA0192 was installed on a machine, now we are installing 2094-BM01-SB1111 Problem is that when we Power ON, it start showing 0,1,2 and remains on 2 while in old SA0192, it goes to 1,2,3 and 4 then comes to normal display. can anyone suggest the solution? waiting
  25. Hi there, is somebody experience whereby the output of the 1769-OF4Ci is not responding on the value entered?.  Setting: 4-20mA Res: 0- 32767 - PID set whatever value I key in the output current remained.  please help. Ganie
