  1. I have had similar experience with the MicroLogix 1400.  For the project, make sure you verify the project.  Go online with the PLC and Clear Processor Memory. then re-download the project.  Hope this helps

  4. FX3U PID Autotune Parameters?

    I have been working on a project that uses the Inverter communication instructions, and the PID instruction in the PLC. The inverter communication was easy to setup. The PLC is communicating with four mitsubishi FR-E540-0.4K-NA inverters. When the PLC first starts, the parameters are loaded into the inverters via the RS-485 communication instructions. This allows the inverter to start, stop, and change speed. The PLC receives the status of each inverter to monitor if the inverter is running or there is a fault. What I am having trouble with is the PID instruction. The FX3U Analog Instruction manual goes in detail about the setting of the PID but it doesn't give very good information for the way I need to run the PID. I need to use the Limit Cycle method. Here is what is used for setting the PID: (S1) Target Value (SV) (S2) Measured Value (PV) (S3) Parameter (D) Output Value (MV) The PID uses 29 points in the parameter section for the calculation of the MV value. The setting values are from (S3) to (S3) +6. I am using D50 for the (S3) point in the PID instruction. This will occupy D50 to D78. For PID operation I am setting (S3)+1, or D51, bit0 to 1: Backward operation, used for heating. D51 bit5 to 1: Upper and Lower limits of the output values are valid. For the Autotune operation I set D50 (Sampling Time) to 2 seconds. D51 bit0 to 1, bit4 to 1: Autotune Is Exicuted, bit6 to 1: Limit Cycle Method. D52 (Input Filter) to 10%. D53 (Proportional gain) to 545%. D54 (Integral time) to 315 x 100 ms. D55 (Differential gain) to 0%. D56 (Differential time) to 787 x 10 ms. Limit Cycle parameters: D75 (PV value threshold) to 0. D76 (Output value upper limit) to 1000. D77 (Output value lower limit) to 0. D78 (Wait setting for end of auto tune) 100%. When I exicuted the auto tune, I let the instruction run. 6 hours later the auto tune was still operating. It was never able to automaticly get the parameters. Is there something that I missed? For the Limit cycle parameters, should I set D75 to something other than zero? I measured the actual PV threshold at 2.3. Should I input this value into D75? I am using GX Developer FX version 8.25B I am attaching the working program for review. This program is also a very good example of the Inverter communications.   5. FX2N PID

    Does anyone have experience with the PID function in a FX2N plc. I am using GX Developer Ver 7.11. Attached is the program that I am using. I can not control the PID from the beginning. The only time that I enable the PID function is when the process temp is within 5 deg of the setpoint temp. When within this range, I load a max and min value into the output min/max variable so the output will function say between 15% to 50%. At any other time the output is 100% if more than 5 deg below setpoint, or 0% if more than 5 deg above setpoint. I am trying to control a heat exchanger. I am using a FX2N-4DA output card with the analog signal set to 4-20ma. A Honeywell Modutrol actuator to open or close the damper. Any help in this manner would be greatly appreciated.   8. S7-200 Pros and Cons

    Hello all, My employer wishes for me to evaluate the Siemens S7-200 micro PLC. In our facility we currently use Mitsubishi FX PLC's. We have had a few customer requests for Allen Bradley PLC's. We are trying to find a solution that we will use for the next five years. This will be a move exclusivly to the product lines. What are the pros of the S7-200 system? What are the cons of the S7-200 system? I look forward to the responces. Thank you, swimmy67
  9. There is a cheaper way, the software RSLogix Micro. I think i saw it listed at $129.00 per copy and only programs the MicroLogix family of PLC's. The downside is you can not have RSLogix 500 and RSLogix Micro loaded on the computer at the same time, it must be one or the other. Hope this helps.
  10. It sounds like you have to configure COMM 0 for Modbus Master communications. It looks like you are communicating with the ML1100 by Ethernet so the DF1 Port should have the 1763-NC01 connected to it. You can do a search here and find the communication settings as they have been discussed many times here.
  11. Micrologix 1000

    I have replaced many burnt out relays. I disassembled the MicroLogix and found the manufacturer of the relay, I believe it was Omron, and I desoldered and replaced the relay. Be careful when deslodering, I used a low wattage soldering iron, 7 watts I believe. I had replaced a few of the 16 I/O models and kept the "Bad" MicroLogix. When I found the relays and who to order from, at about $5.00 each, I repaired all of the bad relays in the Micrologix PLC's and when I had a problem, I replaced it with the repaired unit.   13. When transferring an application there are three options. Internal, My Computer and a third. The name escapes me right now. Select that for the source file and not My Computer. From My Computer, browse to path C:\\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Allen Bradley\PanelView Component\User Data\ I think this is the path. Hope this helps

    I have called and asked about the speed of the update time using Internet Explorer 7. I was told that the application of the Component PanelView HMI's were built on Firefox 2.0. The representative suggested that I use Firefox 2.0. He stated that they were unsure of Firefox 3.0 as it had not been tested. Hope this helps.

  16. It has been my experience with the ML1000 when clearing the fault you have to write a "0" to S:5/8 Retentive Data, in order for the fault to be cleared successfully. Using the attached picture as a guide, highlight the "1" in S:5/8 and type in a "0" and press enter. Press the "Clear Fault" button. Try putting it back into run mode.
  17. slcman, I looked up the GE QuickPanel and it does not support Ethernet/IP. Ethernet/IP is the communication protocol for the ML1100. I use the IDEC HG3F 10 inch and the HG4F 12 inch Touch Screens. They have built in Ethernet that uses Ethernet/IP communications. IDEC is updating the HG2F 6 inch Touch Screen to include an Ethernet port. Hope this helps.
  18. From the manual for the 22-SMC-232 converter there are sample programs in the manual. There are PLC's listed that will be able to communicate with the PowerFlex 40 Drives.   21. FX2n-DOPT instration

    DOPT is a communication instruction. FNC 89. I have not been able to find the description myself but I have used this instruction in some of the programs that were written with WinFX. I have posted a sample program in the downloads section that has this instruction in the program. I have been trying to find the description for DOPT for some time and I haven't been able to find it yet. I hope this helps at least a little. swimmy P.S.     Hello, I have added my reply because the PLC used is a ML1000 and not a ML1100. I have attached a sample program. Edit: Just to clarify the HSC. The ML1000, ML1200 and the ML1100 have (4) High Speed Inputs, Input 0 to 3, but only (1) High Speed Function file. ML1000_Count_Pulse.RSS

  25. ML1200 and errorcode 21h

    Alex, I was able to spend more time searching and found that there is another 21h error. I have attached the error codes. It seems that the ML1200 is faulty. The error suggests that the expansion I/O power is faulty. TW had the right answer. Page D4 of the attached Error code listing. Error "0021" is the error that you origionally listed.
