The SCL simply grabs your source data (typically 0 through to fa0) for C200H-Ad003 and converts to a usable engineered unit like your 0 - 100%. P1 or the second operand in the function block is used to define the starting point of the required linear coordinates. Simply draw a line with the slope of dy/dx and add your offset. These points are stored in Data Memory normally. The PLC will then convert your HEX number to a BCD number (can still be viewed as hex but will not have any a,b.....f etc). Does this help at all?? If not, the omron Digital Technical Library (see Omron) has the CS/CJ instruction reference manual. The graph shown should give you a good idea what each value is doing.

Hi Yair, In CX Protocol, you will have a 'Send Message List'. These are sent depending on the sequence selected within the protocol. You can set the CRC check for each send message. Click on check code to select. The checksum you detailed is simply 100hex minus the sum of your message data as listed ie. A through to P2. in the example you have 100hex - 48hex = B8hex. Due to lack of knowledge, I donot know which Omron CRC option is directly equal to this. Jay maybe able to confirm the operation of each CRC type as this would be great for future reference. I beleive this to be your only option for automatically adding CRC data to your protocol message. Good luck.

Are you saying that the relays are suffing from mechanical failure? ie. 1000s of operations OR Electrical death due to contact welding?? Depending on failure, mechanical would be a change over of relay, not much else you can do. Electrical failure: may suggested looking at the load device and using SSR interposing relay to reduce the load on the S6 relay to a minimum Good luck. ps search ebay for Omron S6. Saw a couple last week at a bargin price.

Thanks Jay, I'll try it out Rob.

Hi all, Anybody got any ideas on how to best mount a CJ1 PLC into a 19" rack? My understanding is that the racks have adjustable shelves. I can then mount a gear plate to this, is this typical? What is the typical wiring method adapoted in these racks? Any idea or manufacturers??

All, Managed to correctly set data on tag using an Omron V600 read/write handheld unit. I tried various values and none would prevent the memory protect error. It seems that this protection method may be a property of the V600-DRT unit! I guess a note for users is dont use address 0000 unless you know what your doing.

Hi all, We are using a V600-DRT unit and have set data on a tag at address 0000h. The data written was #00ff. When a new value was to be written we now get a memory protection error - bit 4 flashes on V600 module. The first address on the tag is reserved for write protecting (opps didnt know that). Any suggestions on how to remove protection? Have done what is suggested in manual. ie. set bit 7 of address 0000h to off (no protection) but this does not work! Any help would be great!

Rebuke, Ethernet on CJ series is easy to setup through CX Programmer. The methods described will allow you swap your ETN module to your new machine. Once you have created the I/O table on your ETN PLC, right mouse click on the ETN module listed and goto unit setup. This will allow you to set your IP and Subnet mask. The node # on the front must match the last digit on your IP address. Omron CX Supervisor can link easily to your PLC. The comms tools use CX Server just like Cx Programmer. You can also create a global tag database which can be utilised in CX Supervisor to prevent recreation of I/O tags. Ask for more info if required. CX Supervisor offers most of the common database connection types and can log and trend easily. Goodluck.

BobB, The Peripheral Port on the CJ is Toolbus by default and autobaud should work. The host port is hostlink (sysmacway) default. This is the out-of-box settings. I have found this to be common on most of the units we have used. As for your port problems (after NS download) what network is the NS on? ie. you mention Deveicenet, Controllerlink and serial comms. Is there a common comms path between the three CJs? With your USB adapter, I have noticed that windows does not always allocate the same comm number at bootup. Thus your CX file settings would be wrong. :*-(

Hello there Omron Folk, I am looking for some sample CX Supervisor projects. The built in samples are ok but I am chasing some more fancy graphics. Has anybody got a sample or two?? I am interested in peoples thoughts and efforts towards basic animation as well. I have investigated active-x elements and was also interested in other ideas of making this package more attractive to users. Any ideas, let me know.

Hi Guys, We are looking for a DNP3 protocol for the Omron CS/CJ serial units. Has anybody attempted this?? We would need both master and slave options but either/or would be great. Any help would be fantastic.

Does anybody know a location where the Smart Active elements can be sourced for the NEW NS series V1? I havnt found it within the NS Designer software (using V4.0). Is it an add-on and if not, can it be sourced from the WEB. The elements I'm interested in are for temperature control/setting and CJ/Devicenet monitoring. I have catalog details but they do not indicate how they are soruced. Thanks.
