  1. RSLinx OPC Data Logging

The simplest (and cheapest) solution I found this summer was from these guys: http://www.opclogger.com/products.php The non-Pro version is only 70 bucks or so and does .csv data recording. The next version up supports MySQL and MS-SQL as well. Skeet

Hey there! I do this all the time, and for the good reasons Ken Roach mentioned above. Usually a 5/05, scanner module, and PFlex 700s. Ron mentioned the Scanner RIO configuration -- if you go to Advanced Config> I use 32 Scanned Input and Output Words Going to Edit G Data> I have the four PFlexs set up as 1/2 racks; this gives them each four words of data. I set up "blocks" of four words each (I used O:13 in my case because...um...that's where the Scanner Rio module lives:) With the 700s, the second word of data has the discrete "command bits" for simple functions like Stop/Start/FWD/REV/Jog, etc. The third word is the "speed word", which you can manipulate with stuff like MOVs from an N7:0 file or something. Pretty simple stuff, but my machines aren't real high-speed either. The biggest problem I had was, I WANTED to go ethernet w/ the PFlex drives, and found out it's a PITA with SLCs..... It CAN be done, but only after a lot of hoop-jumping...and I'm all for keeping things simple:) Hope this ramble helped!
