I am currently enrolled in Community College Electronics program. I'm taking 12 units this semester. I am taking basic Electronics, PLC controllers, mechanical systems and beginning AutoCAD. If anybody has any recommendations or advice for me I'm getting started in this program I would greatly appreciate it.

it is simple, just be a top-gun... if anyone else is better, that is not a good sign at all...
seriously, higher education is very different from highschool, nobody will push you to work hard - you need to do this yourselves, make sure to work on your time management! make sure to not fall behind on any course, my recommendation is to read all material few days before it is actually taught in the class. this will give you chance to ask right questions and learn more than others. this will also help reduce your workload peaks... specially when exam time comes... work out all practice problems, not only recommended ones.
if you are interested in automation, i strongly suggest to build circuits in your spare time. it will teach you so much more than what is delivered in the class.
