Hi all, Hope everyone is doing good. I have this question about how to be good in designing the Controls. I never did controls designing from the scratch, always took over the designing from the seniors. Now I am in a plant where I don't have any senior controls people, and I badly want to learn how to design a controls system so we don't have to outsource it. Can someone here please tell me how should I do that? I mean is there any course I have to take? or can I learn that myself somehow? Please assist me. Thank you very much. Akif.  

Hi All, I am going to ask a weird (for some of you) question.  I am new graduate, and got into the world of Controls Engineering recently, honestly I Love this! I heard and read it is a challenging field. Hopefully I can learn most of the things in this field and overcome the challenges.  So, my question to all of you out there who is well knowledgeable and experienced in this field is, How can I excel in this field and how can I become a good controls engineer? Well, what I would really like to know is, is there any courses or training that I should take? I am really willing to learn, but I don't know what all are the things I should be learning, kind of confused honestly. And yeah, I am having a Mechanical Engineering graduate degree and I took higher studies in Robotics and Automation. Thank you very much for reading and hopefully someone will help me out here. Hi, When I opened up my project I can see forces highlighted with Red. It shows Remove or Enable forces on it. Before I went to Mexico didn't noticed it, and I think someone changed something when I wasn't here. Can someone please tell me how can I find whether there is anything that is Forced in the program, so I can look what they used it for??? Please assist. Thank you very much.

Good morning, Sorry for the bother, pretty new with the Omron software. Trying to write program in Sysmac, and am having this error and cant clear it. The error is – “UNSIGNED INTEGERS CANNOT BE USED WITH THE SIGNED INTEGERS”. Please help. Thank you.

Hi Guys, Can someone please tell me how I can obtain the current date and time to my program in Omron? In AB we can use the GSV instruction and obtain it, but not familiar with Omron. Can someone please help. Thanks you very much.

Hi, I tried as you told and I got the Time and date as I need. But what I am looking for is to extract the current time so I can create a production sheet every hour. I am getting a variable of Date and Time data type, but I am not getting the time itself. Can you  please help. Thanks.

Wow, that is a really good reply. Thank you very much for your valuable reply. I am almost new in the field, trying to learn everything fast as possible, which I don't know whether it is possible. Was doing Co-op in an integration company and learned a lot of new things from there as you mentioned. Then got a good offer from a manufacturing plant , and here its just me, and I wanted to learn myself now. Kind of in that position where I want  to do the Automation projects myself, but I never designed an entire cell before myself, so company ends up outsourcing the project. I wanted to somehow learn this, which I know mainly comes through experience.

Good Morning Guys, How are you all today? I have this question about SLC 500, which I barely studied from the School, and don't have any practical real world knowledge... I am worried is it almost same as the RSLogix? I hope it is same but it is Address based programming. Also, I have this CD we purchased, can I install it in Windows 7 or do I need to run a Virtual Windows XP for that? Please guide me. Thanks all. :)

Oh, I have version 7.10 RSLogix 50 with me. But it is installed in the Windows XP in Virtualstation in my Windows 7 laptop. I am just thinking to make it install in 7 itself so I don't want to switch the OS.

Okay, so I should be worried more about the voltage drop? How about if I want to go in parallel connection? I think I  have to worry more about current consumption if I am going in parallel, right???

Hi All, I am trying to download a New .mer file to the PVP 1000 I have here. I didn't had any issues like this before. I am using an existing program which I was using in the PVP before, and updated little bit of the program now and I am trying to download it, but at first for some reason I wasn't able to find the devices under the Ethernet tab, it just disappeared suddenly. Then I ended up creating devices manually and the Factorytalk view recognized it. But, now after I created the Shortcuts(same name I used before so it doesn't screw up) in the communications and selected the PLC I needed to connect from the Design local and also clicked the Copy to runtime button, and clicked Okay, which should be good to go. But, for some reason when I created the runtime application, it started giving me a warning saying the runtime target device doesn't have any device assigned, but I did copy from design to runtime. And if I manually assign the add device thing in Runtime and click apply, it doesn't load the file to the PVP and gives a error. I don't know what is actually happening. Can someone please help me out here? Sorry for the long passage. Will really appreciate and Thank you very much. Akif.
