  1. Sysmac c200HE failed connection to CX-Progrmmer

The most common problem is using commercial off-the-shelf cables between the PLC and USB converter.  Omron does not use standard pinouts on most RS-232 connectors.  Never plug the RS232-USB converter directly into the PLC.   Prefabricated cable: C200HS-CN220, or make your own: Use a DB9 Male cable connector to mate with the Female PLC Serial Port, use a DB9 Female cable connector to mate with the Male PC Serial Port     PLC<------>PC   2<--------->2   3<--------->3   9<--------->5   On PLC connector only, Jump together pins 4 & 5   On PC connector only, Jump together pins 4 & 6, jump together pins 7 & 8   Leave all other unspecified pins unconnected   Solder shield or drain wire only to the metal hood of the PLC connector, do not connect other end.   If the Omron-side plug must be fastened down, please order connector kit CJ1W-CN001, which includes one male connector body, back-shell and hardware.  Omron devices use non-standard metric jackscrews, whereas most American connectors come with 4-40UNF threads which won't fit.
  2. Interacting TTL Encoder

Omron makes an I/O module that will accept a 5V encoder signal directly, and includes high-speed counter functions.
