  1. I'm looking for some further information regarding the proper wiring for the 1734-VHSC24 module and a Promag 50W electromagnetic flowmeter with the passive, positive pulse output. I currently have the signals +/- wiring to the A and Aret, respectively, sourcing 24VDC+ from the second module of the VHSC24 set. I cannot find any good documentation or information about these modules, and it's getting to be very frustrating. I'm looking for someone who may be able to shed some light on my problem. Any help is appreciated. Frequency output from the flowmeters is on pages 23-33. I also attached the terminal diagram for the VHSC24. 1734_wiring_diagram.pdf Promag_50.pdf
  2. CompactLogix and 1734-232ASC

You're correct, but I was playing with baud settings that appeared in HTerm, as well as under the Device Manager. The terminal emulator settings would override the Device Manager's, which is what I was checking. Currently, the barcode is directly connected to my PC, so I can troubleshoot it.
  3. CompactLogix and 1734-232ASC

I still cannot get any good data to return. I can send ASCII commands which it responds to, but nothing I scan seems to work. I have attached a screenshot showing what kind of feedback I get after triggering the barcode scanner with ASCII commands.
  4. CompactLogix and 1734-232ASC

Thank your for the great recommendation on the terminal emulator. I was using PuTTY, which didn't have close to the features in Realterm. I had the scanner hooked up to it, and was able to send ASCII commands to the barcode scanner. However, when scanning a barcode, I was not able to receive consistent datagrams, while scanning the same barcode each time. The output would be 8-bit messages resulting in binary strings '11110000' to '11111111'. I will be speaking with technical support from the company and will update with my findings. The barcode reader is poorly documented, in the pinouts, the data formatting, and even configuration options. As for the Point I/O, it works great and hasn't been a problem, handling properly formatted strings without issue.
  5. CompactLogix and 1734-232ASC

*bump* I feel like the problem exists in the output format of the barcode reader and what is expected in the 232ASC module.
  6. I am using a 1769-L33R controller that is polling numerous Point I/O (1734-AENT) racks for ASCII data from a 1734-232ASC card. I have a SICK CLV503 connected to the card and cannot seem to get any data to buffer in the module. I believe I properly configured the delimiters, string settings, etc. I jumpered the TX and RX points on the module and was able to transmit data and receive it through the module. This leads me to believe that something is at issue with the data from the SICK barcode scanner. Could the controller clear the buffer before I have a chance to read the data that is set into it? I have not found anything indicating this is a possibility. Does anyone have some experience with this type of configuration to suggest where a problem may lie? Or even suggest a proper configuration that worked for them?
