  1. Concept 2.1xl

    Still available from Schneider Electric.
  2. Modbus tcp help Micrologix 1400

copy instruction to move the I/O as words.
  3. Micro850

Are you using function block diagrams?
  4. Upload if the process is running properly.
  5. read from PLC or Write to PLC It's just a notice that your working file doesn't match the running file in the PLC
  6. *Slowly backs away from the LCD interface...
  7. Learning about MicroLogix 1500

I've been trying to get my boss to stop with the mircologix entirely. If they can't afford compactlogix I'd rather use the ClickPLCs at least you can get them to do a PID loop without knocking the universe apart.
  8. Structured Text Value for Pi?

Not on the platforms I've been using.
  9. Advice on choosing a PLC for a project

I like the click PLCs, I hate the DirectLogic PLCs. With the latest firmware the Click's can do PID loops and as far as I/O count they can handle EIGHT modules! Support for reading and writing to Ether/IP assemblies with the ability to create an Ether/IP server on them that will create it's own EDS file so you can use them as Remote I/O for controllogix PLCs as seamlessly as using Allen Bradley's own equipment and if you're just starting out on AB's platform it is actually easier.
  10. Web Hosting

Godaddy has some rather nice pricing and generally the most and best of the Content Management Systems require linux, php, and SQL.  Although they will host either or both. There are some fairly good website designers in our area but as we both know communication with us techies can get weird. The two big names in business grade CMS are WordPress and OsCommerce. ISP hosting tends to be a joke. I would not suggest hosting on COX Business or even worse comcast. If you have more specific questions feel free to give me a call.
  11. Check where the drive is mapped as a device in the network tree.
  12. FR D700 VFD with Compactlogix plc

the PC and SD terminals on the vfd are the 24vdc
  13. Off Going Fusing

Nice choice, that'll save some sanity.
  14. Off Going Fusing

Non-field engineers are cray cray. In my experience yes they want all 40 fuses.
  15. Breaker should trip.
  16. easyE4 nanoPLC

I'd use a ClickPLC before dealing with that.
  17. If the DCS doesn't support Contrologix EIP than I suggest the folllowing; Shoot the DCS (it's probably senile anyways). Slap a redlion DSP in to perform protocol conversion. Moxa makes an EIP to modbus gateway that isn't a complete nightmare kepware but if the DCS can't do EIP I'm afraid it might not do OPC. Throw a ML 1400 in there since the contrologix can read and write to it and it can be setup to do modbus tcp. Do not do the following; Ask why they didn't order a compatible skid Forget to get a signed change order, work order, or purchase order. Tell anyone it's the engineers fault. (Yes, I know it is but no one will ever admit it.) Try to get that horrid modbus routine for contrologix to work on a live system.
  18. One client lost three radios and two PLC's to that storm before the hurricane. And a relay
  19. VSD location in panel

I'm not sure putting the hot stuff at the bottom helps. Unless you're worried about the other stuff getting cold. Heat rises normally.  I general I like putting the Drives in their own box once you start heading upwards of 25 HP and under 30 HP you can usually just order a nice Drive in it's own box from the vendor. But then I'm weird I like using Ether/IP cards in Motor Drives.
  20. If it's South Carolina they may have picked up some bad habit from this one radio guy that thinks he can do controls without understanding electricity. I've got some nice pictures of relays with the cover blown off the cube because he unbinds neutral from ground and won't install Lightning Arrestors on 80 foot antennas  because he swears they're a scam.
  21. Control Panel Drawings

The new ClickPLC firmware lets you use it as RIO. It'll even make the .EDS file for you to import the whole rack of 8 modules.
  22. VSD location in panel

There's a big issue about where to put the intake and exhaust, which I prefer both to be powered, and usually wherever you want to put it will get blocked by where the Engineering firm on your project wants it mounted.  If it's going to be mounted side by side with other VFD cabinets (which is typical) I'd put the intake low (below the door if possible) and have a air flow tube fabricated to get the air flow close to the backplane of the enclosure or hell behind it and maybe they won't throw the 3 phase cables in the way. Place the Exhaust near the top of the door diagonally across from the intake. I've seen Eaton Pre-Engineered Drive Panels that had intake across the bottom of the front and Exhaust out the back of the top. Wherever you put it the Electricians need to be told not to run the 4/O or larger 3 phase in front of the intake or the exhaust or they will every single time.   Generally, you'll want to push air in the bottom and out the top, since heat rises and that need to GTFO.
  23. Simple/Cheap HMI/Panel suggestions

I find that maple systems supports this unit  https://www.maplesystems.com/1036/10360236.pdf Kepware supports it so that'll get into just about and SCADA platform. Not sure about VTSCADA, It supports CIP using tagnames but I don't think the tag browsing would work. If you have one of these exposed on the internet I'll try it.   Looks like you can map tags to FINS addresses and use the FINS driver which VTscada does have. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUDqz-N7-uY   ANyways, that should be enough information to get you going.
  24. upload program from HMIGXU3500

The HMI runtime must be Downloaded with the Upload allowed bit set on or you cannot recover the project from the HMI.
  25. Maybe they prefer Lightning Damage?
