  1. PLC and HMI freezing issue

Sounds like your power supply needs to provide more amperes.
  2. Wire size <18awg

That's probably a state level electrical code. Some states have gone nuts with their electrical codes. Maryland requires 12ga on anything over 60 volts excluding prefabricated assemblies.  This gets to be real fun with some 4 wire analog transmitters and a real nightmare with Hach sc200 controllers.
  3. grounding and fluctuation

Correct! Don't ground the negative unless you are installing the system in an automobile!
  4. Since the SLC's predate XML I'm going to guess that won't work.  Since Unity Pro broke on this PC again I'm guessing copy and paste won't work.. At least it's not my Field PC anymore.
  5. What is your favorite and least favorite HMI software?

    Viejo any version HAte
  6. Allen Bradley PLC 1100

    Check the ribbon cables
  7. AL2-24MR-D

Allen Bradley to Mitsubishi doesn't leave other options.
  8. Which channel and is it even in use?
  9. AL2-24MR-D

Last one was FR-F800. The Ether/IP card wasn't the friendliest I've met. The guys that built it put a ModbusTCP card in and left the Ether/IP card requested in the bottom beside the reactor in all four units. They were running them for about a week in hand that way.
  10. Since this is the Allen Bradley section I will point out that Only the ML1400 supports ModbusTCP MSG's
  11. That routine should sync the time with the NTP in the GPS device. After that you should be able to use the Time Sync with the L71 as a Time Master for additional AB units. Not having any  Controllogix  on hand I am not able to test this right this minute.
  12. AL2-24MR-D

Nice walkthrough. One of the other vendors of one of my clients uses almost nothing but Mitsubishi [mostly VFDs]. The guys at the plant prefer our work but the beancounters love the price of those Mitsubishi VFDs. Can't really blame them, they beat my price using Fuji's at 55% of my cost. Insane! Ether way I expect I'll end up having to work on one sooner than later.

  14. AL2-24MR-D

Documentation is sparse but I don't see a single modern protocol listed for that thing. I says Dedicated Protocol and lists one PC windows application it can communicate with. I wouldn't put money on getting a GOT or any other HMI/scada to read it.
  15. ip Finder

Well, that puts it on my to buy list. I've been using wireshark but it doesn't tell me which ones are PLCs.
  16. ip Finder

Tim will that find devices on multiple or unknown subnets?
  17. Analysing SCADA systems

I used mySCADA mobile on a project where I installed 68 identical pump control panels. The sites were not identical so I'd configure the PLC to fit the site with my tablet. It worked well.
  18. Communication

From what I could google that's twice as fast as you should run at that distance.
  19. Please contact your regional Rockwell Dealer.
  20. Analysing SCADA systems

Yeah, I hear that. iFix and Wonderware are two of the hardest to work on. Especially adding new panels to them.
  21. Honestly, This sounds like a typo. I'd retype everything into the config.
  22. Export your comments and I/O descriptions and then upload the project fresh from the controller. Check to see if there are any third party cards in the rack. [This is more common with allen-bradley but hey].
  23. Ethernet Information

Nice to know, I hadn't run into that problem before that I know of. I might have just flashed the firmware and fixed it without noticing.
  24. Ethernet Information

Any old RIX data file you create. Normally I just go head when I make the MSG file at 9 I make an RI at 10 and an RIX at 11
