Do you have a sound argument for not doing this? I do agree that you should not connect two outputs together, I am just looking for a good explanation on why not to.

Can you connect two PLC outputs(sourcing) together? and if no why? For example, you want to turn on an indication light when ever 1 or both outputs are on and have it off when both are off. Forget the fact that this could be achieved within software.

This is my first time using a Siemens PLC I am using a Siemens S7-1200 Simatic V12 with a Murr I/O MVK Dist I/O 55269 over profinet. I have setup the PLC and the I/O now I am trying to write to the device I know I need to use the WR_REC command but, I am not sure how to set it up. What I really need to do is just be able to write and read I/O from the Murr device over profinet. Is there a simple way to view the device through Simatic and force the I/O

I have a control list selector in view studio with 8 States with values 0-8 that is assigned to {[plc]Screen_Selection} that is used to address an array in RS5000 array[0,Screen_Selection], array[1,Screen_Selection],etc. This part works fine. What I want to do is display on the same screen the values of the array based apon the selected state. I have 5 numeric displays with the value {[plc]array[0,Screen_Selection]}, {[plc]array[1,Screen_Selection]}, etc, This part does not work, it will not reconize my variables and I get screen errors Factory Talk This item is not longer available: {[plc]array[0,Screen_Selection]}

Got ya, I was hoping there was a setting in the ALMD fucntion or PV

I am using the ALMD function in 5000 and then using the xxxxx.InAlarm to push an alarm message in view studio. However when you close the alarm window the alarm just goes away even if it hasn’t been address i.e.( Estop button xxxx is pushed) I want to reissue this alarm after the window has been closed out if the issues has not been fixed. Also is there a way to get the value of any alarm being in alarm? or would I have to take all my xxxxx.InAlarms and feed one OTE?

I will try one more time. Are you sure a memory card is not needed? Could I be pointing to the wrong memory location?

Figured it out, had to find the msi file and launched the installer that way.

I am trying the install RSlinx classic Lite and it will not work. I click the setup.exe file and the main screen loads for required and optional steps. I have uninstalled 2.57 and installed Factory talk Activation and servies platform. However when I goto click install rslinx classic nothing happens. I have also DLed 2.58 with the same results Windows XP pro, service pack 3, IE 8.0 RS5000 V19

IP address match with bootp and in rslogix 5000. Just hooked it up throught the serial port and tried to download the program, still had the same problem got up the verify part of the status bar and it stoped and went back into 5000 with out uploading or going online.

Spooke with an inside guy at my local AB rep said that it could be an RSlinx issues I am on version 2.57 and should be on 2.58 or 2.59.

I have used BOOTP to reassign the IP, I click the go online and the OK button lights up but, after I click download it fails with no explanation. It will see it in RSlinx so I would imagine it can communicate with it.

I have a 1768-L43 with two E/IP Modules(ver. 4) 1 DO and 2 DI. I am runing RSlinx classic lite 2.57. I am able to assign an IP address, and update the L43 to firmware 19. When I click go online with RS5000 it prompts me do DL the intial program. I click download and the progress meter briefly pops up then goes away and I am back in RS5000 not online and the program has not been DLed. I do not have a memory card installed but, from what I read you dont need one. The L43 has 2Mb onboard, under the memory tab in the controller properites I have used only 40,000bytes

1734-MB is the terminal board I just switched the input to bit 7 and its doing the same thing but there are two other bits that are hight that are fine I am thinking its because this bit is being redfine as a Alias rather then being polled directly.

IB8 the "I" was for the fact it was an input module. The terminal boad being used is the one on the backplane of the 1734 The status on all devices show as functional with no minor or major faults. The bit only toggles when pulled high it seems to be fighting being pulled low.
