  1. Well, this explains why I can't get my ASCII data in my SLC 5/4. I was sure when I read the literature on the 1747-KE module it woud do what I needed which is another RS232 port. Feel kinda dumb being that I've been doing this a pretty long time, well, mostly on PLC 5's though. Gonna try the ProSoft MVI46-GSC then...
  2. RSView32

The RSView package is like most of the other Rockwell software packages. You install on only one computer using the license serial number and Master Disk. 150 tags sounds pretty low, I used a Runtime 1500 last year and went over my limit. But it was a line with 50+ stations and 200 pallets with data tracking. Regards
  3. upgrade

The SIMATIC 505 runs on an old TI platform using TISOFT. I have used many different PLC in the last 15 years and if possible I would replace with Siemens S7 hardware and software but my preference would be Allen Bradley products ($$). I just ordered a system from GE (versamax) to see how friendly it is for small applications. There's a lot of options!!
  4. Our company's IT department has decided that ALL computers must be upgraded to WindowsXP. I use a couple of laptops that run Windows98 and 2000pro. The newer software for PLC's and Robot applications run okay on XP but we still have some very old applications that run in a DOS shell, XP doesn't like this. A couple of examples are the old TI505's running TISOFT and RMC servos. There are some newer software packages available but the cost is Extremely high. I am resisting to upgrade my laptops until I find suitable software for XP. Any suggestions?
  5. Tisoft/545-1106

NOTE: I currently have to use the TISOFT ver.6.3.1 which is DOS based. Unfortunately, WindowsXP doesn't like DOS based programs so I use a seperate PC that's running Windows 2000 whenever I need to use TISOFT. I've never seen "Shopsoft" and am going to look for it now. Hopefully it will run on XP.
