  1. Hi all, Is it possible with cx-configurator to upload the profibus network with the slave address mapping? I.e walk up to a processor, plug into the cpu, and upload the configuration of the profibus master card that will give me a list of the configured slaves, their address mapping and other miscellaneous configuration data. I tried but failed with a CJ1W CPU22 and PRM21 master module. I had to rebuild the entire network from scratch. Luckily the original integrator used the automatic address assignment and had the slaves inserted in sequential order otherwise i would have been screwed. Surely this is not the case? I know with siemens when you upload the hardware config you get the slave address mapping. This topic is posted also at http://www.plctalk.net/qanda/showthread.php?p=504668#post504668
  2. Interesting reply from the e bay seller today Anyway got my money back, and a genuine unused office 2003 pro disc with COA and licence if anyones interested. $50+postage ha ha Thanks to all those that assisted with your replies
  3. Hello Bob, The last MS product installed was office 2007 enterprise.
  4. Ok, yet it is such a good version if it is, I mean the disc has no burn marks that you normally see on burnt pirated copies, also it has the full (incredibly genuine looking) holographic treatment on the face. Also has the full colour glossy paged get started book. I'm just having a very hard time believing its fraudulant... I'm going to e-mail microsoft the COA product key and see what they say. I'll post back when I know. If anyone else should think their is another solution please let me know... NP edit: While I was on the MS website I did the camparison check of my media and COA sticker with their interactive online process. They passed with flying colours, every security feature matches the shown pictures and animations with high accuracey. A genuine copy or impressive fake. edit2: I'm wondering if I have to download the bootable set up discs from MS. They are only available up to XP SP2 which seems consistent with my problems so far. I'm gonna try that.
  5. Hi all, I have bought a (supposed) genuine copy of Windows XP Pro SP2 OEM off ebay. It came as brand new with an included damaged hard drive (to meet seller agreement), in sealed packaging, with holographic disc (cleary marked XP Pro incuding SP2), COA sticker, and small manual. I have changed my boot order in Bios to CD first, then HDD second. I have proved the CD rom drive works as I have a another bootable OS disc that had the press any key to boot from cd message when I tried it just before. So that rules out BIOS and the CD Rom drive Ok, so weird, the other issue with this disc is when the computer is up and running, I run it from the CD drive it appears to be a microsoft office pro 2003 disc, as it runs the office 2003 pro set up wizard. So weird, have I bought a clever copy of something that isn't what it says it is? Totally confused I can post pictures of the disc and COA if anyone is interested. Any thoughts or comments appreciated. Nathan
  6. How to register keywords on FX2N

the requirement is 8 characters in length. Edit: You should set the keyword on your off line project, then the next time that program is loaded into the PLC it will also send the new password. Be sure to write the password at the top of the code on your off line copy!!!
  7. How to register keywords on FX2N

Have you only used hex characters? 0-9 A-F???
  8. FX-3U First time with ethernet to excel

OK, I got some trial software, KepServerEX demo (with simulation package) and OPCWareXL for the excel add in. I have got numbers streaming into excel now which is good, but i'm still feeling lost. I seem to be struggling. Well, not to bad for a couple of days worth of hunting around I suppose.
  9. FX-3U First time with ethernet to excel

Thankyou! Nice website. Still not 100% what the customer wants, I wll be ask them some questions shortly on the finer points. Another question... The DDE route sounds like an easy option for this particular app, but is it considered 'best practice' to use a opc server / VB script, as this seems the way things are going?
  10. FX-3U First time with ethernet to excel

I found this http://forums.mrplc.com/index.php?showtopic=4941&hl= Enough to get me started. Saves the need to go the expensive Mitsi ethernet module! If anyone has any other links in their arsenal that are good for a beginner, I would like to recieve them. Chur, Nathan
  11. Hi guys, I have a good example of an ideal beginner OPC project coming up. What I have to do is get the total cycle times from a chemical dipping process and enter them into an excel spread sheet. (This is not homework by the way) 5 tags worth updated once every 5 or so minutes. I have never done anything like this before, and that extends as far as the ethernet settings on the PLC side. From a few hours of hunting around I have found that I need a ethernet card for the PLC, an OPC server, then I need to write something in VB, which I can do from the developer tab in Excel, then my OPC client (in this case Excel). Cool, still none the wiser, but thats how the learning curve goes. I have many, many questions, but i'll keep them spaced as I learn more. Questions; What is bugging me at the mo is Graybox 100 tag demo. Will it be ok to use? Potential unknowns, drivers to FX-3U? VB script combatability? (Appeared to be a C++ based OPC server) Any guidance and direction greatly recieved. Nathan
  12. Welcome. I was where you are now 3 months ago with AB products. I cant offer any books or super straight direction as my peers on these forums are able to; What I can say that should you be using RS Linx for the basics like getting online with ethernet, or DF-1, then you will do yourself great favour by clicking every menu, toolbar icon etc etc. Very quickily you will be navigating around and hopefully, with some intelligence, be able to recognise where and what you are looking at, hopefully putting two and two together. Select Driver (Start, Stop, Delete, Add other drivers) Configure (Auto configure ) Get Online But if you are looking at getting onto other protocols my experience has not yet been built in these areas. Allen Bradley does have a knowledge base, but many manuals are very in-depth. Nathan
  13. Comments in Excel

    Mate, that looks good. Thankyou
  14. Comments in Excel

Hi all, I have GX Dev V8.03, upgrading is not an option at this stage. My question is about entering device comments. I always have to go back and edit them to get the line breaks to line up. The newer versions I have seen, have a little display box showing you what it will look like when you press OK. Man, wish I had that. Now, a little while ago (from memory) someone had made a spreadsheet where the cell was capped at 8 char etc etc. I am unable to find it with my search effort. Anyone know where it is? Failing that, I had a play with excel, I had a go using left, mid etc and then failing them, used in the data tab a cell limit, but these don't work effieciently for me. What are your guy ideas? p.s please dont say upgrade!
  15. Durable Laptop With Real Serial Port

Sorry to bring up this older thread. It has a relevant title This one is more for the Aussies and Kiwis. I went to a 'supposed' laptop specialist to buy a new windows XP pro laptop with a serial port. This 'supposed' specialist could only find me refurbished ones and what I think to be a slightly over priced Dell latitude. Anyway took it upon myself to find me one for reasonable amount of money and found this... http://laptop.com.au/product_info.php/manu...products_id/494 I think with these types of laptops becoming very tough to come buy, anyone that is in the market for one would like to have a look at this. I think its a good find. It is a grey import but they will match the warranty all be it only locally. Can't wait mine is in the post.
