  1. Hi Megaladon, See this link. I think that this may explain the schematic to you http://www.allaboutcircuits.com/vol_4/chpt_6/4.html Conor
  2. Thanks for your response Michael, I will try out your code tomorrow Its funny cause I am just starting to use Point I/O and I was going to use the alarms for the Analogue Inputs. Thanks again, Conor
  3. Hi guys, I try and read most posts that come up here as sometime maybe I will come across an issue or maybe I can give someone some help. One thing that comes up now and again is guys talking about their library of AOI's or UDT's. I am only just starting to use these and would like to start my own library. I don't mind having to create the AOI's as I think that it is good experience. In your opinions what do you think that I should be including in my library. Should I just go through some of the code in my plant and start creating as per well used code snippets? Any input would be great, Thanks, Conor
  4. Thanks Ken. I think that I will try and get one of the Prosoft modules for my L35E
  5. Hi guys, I have just updated from V2.57 to V2.59. My problem is that before I had Linx running as a service and I was able to see it in the "Notification area" (beside the date and time) in the bottom right hand corner of my PC screen. Since installing V2.59 Linx is running as a service but it does not show in the "Notification area". I used to be able to open/close Linx from the little Linx icon in that area. Does anyone have any idea's on this. Thanks, Conor Sorry guys. I am running XP service pack 2 on that machine
  6. Have you tried to flash the firmware again? I had a processor earlier this year and I didn't flash it right the first time. Turned out I had to re-flash it.
  7. Hi guys, I have an L35E that I need to connect Flow meters (Analogues) and some Digital signals to. The Remote I/O is about 120 meters away from the processor. I was hoping someone could tell me what they think that the best option would be to use. I have thought of three options. 1. DeviceNet. This would mean purchasing a new SDN card for the L35E. 2. Ethernet. Is this run too far and if not what I/O would I use. 3. Hardwire. Seems a bit outdated, but I could still do. Thanks, Conor
  8. L35E remote I/O

Hi Paul, thanks for your input I have a good supplier that I get the fibre cable off, pre-terminated for a fairly reasonable price. So thats that bit sorted. I have Stratix and Westermo managed switches, no problems with either. The only thing is that with the Stratix you can use the Cisco software to map out your network. But this doesn't go through the Westermo. I have another question about the Point I/O. My site network is 192.0.2.xxx, with all of my PLC's, Managed switches and Panelviews hanging off this. If I am to install the Point I/O would I be better to give the Point I/O 192.0.3.xxx I don't have all of my addresses used on the main site network, but I think (not sure need some input) that I might be better putting my Point I/O on this new IP range? I would be grateful of any inputs/idea's on this Thanks again, Conor
  9. L35E remote I/O

We use DeviceNet throughout our plant. I have all the tools. I am weighing up the options and would like to start using Ethernet where and when I can. DeviceNet can be tricky as the PLC needs to go into program mode to add new nodes etc. As above I could use a fibre cable into the managed switch in the PLC. I could get a fibre to Ethernet adaptor the far end as well. On the last option, as you say the biggest draw back would be leaving room for expansion. I would say it would be 8 - 12 Analogues and probably 20 'ish DIO. Again, I would like to keep as much Bradley as I can Thanks Again, Conor
  10. Hi guys, Can someone tell me the difference between theses please 2711P PanelView Plus 6 2711P PanelView Plus 2711P PanelView Plus Thanks, Conor
  11. Hi guys, I am getting a problem with a PLC 5 communcation with two Wonderware Scada's. Basically the one of the Scada's looses comms to the PLC and when I look at the log file it tells me target unable to handle anymore connections. I know before that when I was having a simular issue with a SLC I was told by an AB rep to add the SVC instruction about half way through my program. I was looking through the instruction list on the PLC 5 but didn't see an instruction like the SVC. Is there a way that the PLC can reset or re-initialize the connections to a Scada? The two Scada's are connecting to the PLC via ControlNet, and they are using the DASABCIP to connect to this PLC. I have other PLC 5's that connect to these same Scada's and they never drop comm's. Thanks, Conor
  12. ONS behavior

I am not 100% sure. But as I said, it works fine for me, so I would recommend to do it this way because of this Conor PS, Sorry. I suppose if it works with being set via the properties then maybe do it that. Maybe one of the other guru's can shed light on it. Since I have done it this way first and it works for me I keep doing it this way. I find that I then dont forget if I am doing another one that I need to have them set.
  13. ONS behavior

Hi Waterboy, I cant remember if it was someone on here or my local Bradley tech rep, but these two (along with the enable) bits have to be made to get it working correctly. I know you may never have to use them, but if it works... Conor

Hi guys, With help of this forum I got totalizers working in my PLC's before. I have attached a doc with a working version. Any questions give me a shout working_totalizer_example.doc Conor PS. I know that it says Mid reset, but it is actually resetting at 6:00 am.
  15. Hi guys, I was wondering if someone could help me out. Have a new panel that is being sent out to a panel builder. I have an L35E and about 10 other cards hanging of it. The engineer has asked me to supply dimensions for the entire PLC configuration. I thought that I had seen a package from Bradley that did this for you? Thanks, Conor
  16. Panel layout

Cheers for that as well Shiner. Where can I access these DWG files? Conor
  17. Panel layout

Thanks for that Schui. I have it installed on my PC, but I couldn't remember whick one to use. I will have a go Conor
  18. Hi guys, I have a ControlNet network that had a node with very old firmware on it, 5.22. I need to replace this card as it has been causing problems with a new Scada that I have installed. I have been told that I need the latest version of firmware for this to work correctly. I have a few questions. If I replace the old card with a new one, I will need to re-schedule the network. I will need to put the keeper PLC in Program mode. I was wondering if anyone has done this beofre and if so how easy a job was it?? So if I go online and upload from the network. Then if I replace the card, I will get a mismatch for that node address. To clear the mismatch I will then need the keeper in Program? Sorry for the basic questions, but it is the first time that I am going to do this and also I only have a few hours downtime tomorrow to get this done. Thanks, Conor PS. Old card 1756-CNBR/D. Firmware 5.22 New card 1756-CNBR/E. Firmware 11.005 PS (1): I found a doc online called Intermediate CNet Scanlist. It tells me that all of the devices hold the same keeper, but that only one is active. They all hold the keeper so that if the active on goes down then another one can take over. I have gone online with my network and when I try and upload I get an error "A scanner in the online configuration is missing; therefore, upload is not allowed.
  19. ControlNet

Thanks Bob. I found a doc this morning explaining how to replace a CNBR Series D with a Series E. It is straighforward enough. I was a little worried about changing out the cards, as I hadn't done it before. I am not sure if I can post the doc here as it is a doc from tech connect (I always find it hard to fond stuff there). The tech connect doc number is 36453 Conor
  20. Panelview Plus

Thanks for that Jeremy The third one shold have read 2711P PanelView Plus CE
  21. Hi guys, Does anyone have part numbers or website link of a handheld DeviceNet meter that I could use on my site?? Conor
  22. Hi guys, I came in this morning and was told that one of my PLC's was showing a "Watchdog" error on Scada. I went on-line and found the PLC was faulted. I have attached a screen dump of the error. I was able to reset the fault ok. The error was Major Fault on Communication Channel #1, error code S2:15 = 0 (hex) I had a look at the help file and it says that S2:15 is set to 1 to accept one message at a time, and set to 0 to accept multiple messages. I searched in my code and I don't set this. The help file said that you can either set it by a latch or keep un-set with an unlatch. I wonder does anyone have any idea's/help with this please. 23. SLC 1747-L551 16K

Hi guys, This processor is connected to a Stratix 8000 Managed switch, and there are two L35E processors that are reading messages from it. I was trying to go to the web page of the processor and the web page was not showing. I went online and found that the processor was only set to 10 Mb Half duplex. I checked the processor and it was a 1747-L551 B 4 1747-OS501 C 4 I installed a new processor this morning 1747-L551 C 5 1747-OS501 C 11 I was able to set this processor up to 100 Mb Full duplex. I was then able to go on to the web page of the new processor. Hopefully this may help the issue that I was getting Conor
  24. Clueless - please help!

Hi Michael, I was just reading this post and saw you talked about a book called Code. Is this book any good? If so do you know the ISBN for it? Conor
  25. Hi Gunboy, You will need to expand a bit more on what type of PLC you are using, and if you have any software for that make of PLC. They guys here will happily point you in the right direction with a bit more info.
