  1. B Size Laser Printer

A quick update - I ordered a new delivery roller from a guy on E-bay for $31, including shipping. He advertised it as fixing the accordian jam problem. It came in less than a week and included a video on exactly how to replace it. I just printed out about 30 sheets with nary a jam. His ebay name is ricks66gs and he also has an online store at www.laserprinterkits.com. He gets my recommendation.
  2. B Size Laser Printer

Mine's doing the accordian thing, but only on B size. Letter size is OK. I think I'll try the repair kit route.

  5. RS 5000 Version Control

One of your questions was regarding the different versions of RSLogix 5000. One nice feature is that you can have multiple versions of RSLogix on the same computer. For example, I currently have versions 13, 15, and 16 on my computer. When opening a program offline, or going online, RSLogix knows which version is needed and automatically opens it.
  6. I can use the ETHIP to connect to multiple processors using a hard wired cable if I disable my wireless ethernet port. Likewise I can surf the internet using my wireless connection if I disable the wired ethernet port. If both are enabled, I can fool around with the binding and do one thing or the other, but not both without going through the enable/disable procedure. I tried bridging them via Windows XP network setting, but then nothing works. Is there some setup that allows both to work without disabling one or the other? Some specifics: Windows XP Pro RSLinx 2.50.00.20 cpr 7 All A-B devices on wired ethernet are 172.20.1.XX Thaks in advance.
  7. OK - so where do you do this? Some more info Current network settings: Wired IP Address: 172.20.1.254 Subnet: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 172.20.1.1 Wireless is set to obtain IP address automatically, but looking at ipconfig yields: IP Address: 160.18.133.125 Subnet: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 160.18.133.125
  8. Keyence MT-100 Message Display

I got a pdf of the manual from Keyence. I'll upload it if I can figure out where it should go. Anyway, the MT-100 is obsolete so cable and maual aren't available. However, according to the manual, the cable is a null modem cable. That's a good thing. If I can find a copy of the software, I'm good to go.
  9. I am trying to find some info on a Keyence MT-100 (or MT-150) message display that is on a machine imported from Japan. I am looking for a English language manual, the programming software (which may be part # MT-3H1), and the programming cable (which may be part number OP-90906). I got the possible part numbers from a Japanese language pdf. I have contacted both Keyence USA and International, but no joy yet. A guy from the USA office told me that it may be an obsolete part and/or not sold in the US. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  10. SCP help!

The second one looks more right to me because you've accounted for the difference bewteen the +/- 7 vdc output of the Keyence vs. the +/- vdc input on the SLC. One question: should the output data be scaled from 0 to 35 mm or -35 to +35 mm? One way to troubleshoot is to determine if your raw data is coming in as expected (i.e. - the right percentage of full scale). This is adjusted with the top two parameters. Once you're satisfied with that, you can work on the scaled output, which is adjusted with the bottom two parameters.
  11. Mitsubishi Instruction Help

Got the manual and it is very helpful. Thanks.
  12. I'm working on a machine imported from Japan and need some help with a couple of instructions. The processor is a Mitsubishi A2A-CPU and I'm using GX Developer Version 8.25B. The rungs in question look like: B84C ----| |-----------------------------[bSFLP L1170 K2]-- I know that this is looking at an input (B84C) and doing somthing when it's true - but what? B84B ----| |-----------------------------[PLF M4089]-- I know that this is looking at an input (B84B) and doing somthing when it's true to bit M4089 - but, again, what? I've downloaded both the manual for the processor and the GX software didn't find anything. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
  13. Usefull stuff?

Good thread Google Mail - http://www.gmail.com I automatically forward all of the e-mail to/from my "regular" email address to a gmail accout. This serves as an off site backup, and in a pinch I can send/receive email using my gmail account. You can sign up with a cell phone number. GMail Drive Shell extension - http://www.viksoe.dk/code/gmail.htm This program creates a virtual drive using a gmail account. Good for off site backups of critical files. Software995 - http://www.software995.com A nice set of tools including ftp, pdf, zip, and photo utilities. Free with ads, or inexpensively priced to remove ads. File Protect for DOS - http://www.f-prot.com/products/home_use/dos/ Anti-virus protection for DOS computers. Net Stumbler - http://www.netstumbler.com/downloads/ Packet sniffer for wireless networks. I find it useful to use its signal strength graphics to adjust the location of wireless equipment for the best coverage.
  14. Thanks for the suggestions. As much as I hate mucking around in the registry - we looked and found over 100 references to RSLinx. Deleted them all and still no go. Somebody found an install disk for the original version, so we reinstalled it and got them going. The old installation routine was much more forgiving. Haven't had the courage to try the installation of the newer version again. Too much real work to be done without adding self-inflicted problems. Maybe will try again on next trip.
  15. I'm having a problem upgrading from RSLinx 2.2 something to 2.41.00. Went through the install routine and it detected the existing version and was in the process of deleting files and it quit part way through displaying the message "Internal error 2753 F237_RSLINX.EXE." folowed by a long string of letters and numbers. Now, when we run setup and select "Delete" we get the same thing. If we re-run setup, we're stuck in maintenance mode and get the same thing if we select "delete". If we select "repair" or "modify", it starts and quickly displays "insert disk 1". It seems like we're stuck in no man's land between full delete and full install. I went to the A-B site and got some info on the MS Install Cleanup program. I downloaded it, but when we run it we get no references to RSLinx. I also tried deleting the harmony project files. Any ideas? I would like to delete and start over. PS - This is running the customer's Windows 98 computer.
  16. EZ AUTOMATION EQUIPMENT

I've used their EZTouch color touch screens for one relatively small application and was impressed. Quite inexpensive when compared to A-B. The programming software was easy to use and pretty powerful offering all of the usual bells and whistles. I'd use them again.
  17. Allen Bradley Programming

I've been using a cheap Belkin adapter for almost two years with XP Pro, a Toshiba laptop, and RSLogix 500 / 5000. No problems. I've also used it with Panelviews, TCP HMI's, and DL40's. It's getting harder to find laptops with serial or parallel ports. Also, hard to get floppy drives which makes it difficult to install AB copy protection. USB floppies work though.
  18. I'll try the "ignore" function. You said that this was temporary - what was the final solution?
  19. David, The IF4's are not in what I consifer a remote rack. They are expansion cards that plug in directly to the base unit that holds the Micrologix processor. Are you thinking of a SLC setup? I haven't used the Micrologix platform before, so I'm a little unfamiliar with the exact terminology. Anyway, don't forget that the original problem was the watchdog fault. I covered that one up by extending the time to the max value. Thanks.
  20. B & B Electronics has some on-line help that you might find useful: http://www.bb-elec.com/ They've got some pretty good books too: http://www.bb-elec.com/book_chart.asp
  21. Thanks for the comments. I took a few days off, so I'm late replying to the posts: I don't have a spare rack, but can get one. The local A-B rep has been very helpful in substituting parts - no questions asked. Anyway, at A-B's suggestion, I will try replacing the end cap first. I am still gathering temperature data from the data logger to see if there's any correlation there before swapping hardware. I am using a couple of the on-board relay outputs as dry contacts. They normally do not change state unless there is an alarm. The only expansion modules are 1769-IF4 analog input modules (4 ch.). The other sites have only one analog input module. I had the tech check the white expansion clip and he says it looks good to him. Something else I didn't mention in my original rambling is that this PLC is being polled over a radio. Comm setup: DF1 half duplex slave at 9600 baud. Radio: Freewave #FGR115RC, Spread Spectrum Host: Intellution Fix 32 using RSLinx. It get polled about every 5 seconds. Only sends about 12 words of data.
  22. Is anyone aware of a problem with RSLogix 5 and 500 (both are version 6.00.00)crashing while doing online edits? By crashing I mean uplanned termination of program, no chance to save, loss of work, etc. It only happens when doing online programming (DH+) and seems to happen mostly when doing a large amount of edits. Hard to pin down, but it seems to have more to do with cutting and pasting either logic or rung comments. Seems like the more you do, the worse it is. Two different people with two different computers (Windows XP Pro with a Series A PCMK; Windows XP Home with a Series B PCMK). Also, we have seen it on three different DH+ networks. I see that there is a program update out there, but have been unable to download it due to problems at A-B's website (DNS errors). Also, we're using 2.40.01, Build 16 of RSLink. Just curious if anyone else has seen this.
  23. I'm using A-B's DOS-based #2706-LSW to program a DL-40 Plus message display. Does anyone know of anything better? It would be nice if there was some kind of conversion program to take an Excel or Word list of messages and tranlate them to a "mem" file. A-B told me that they have no intention of upgrading this software. PS - I am using the PanelView WinPFT transport utility to upload and download message files.
  24. Siemens Plc Information

Talk to your Siemens rep and ask for the "Berger" book. It's a hardback book called "Automating with Step 7 in LAD" by Hans Berger. It's also got a floppy with examples on it. My local rep gave to me.
