  1. remote contol of SLC 500 fixed I/O

I found a cheaper way to do it, for anyone who is interested. $6 to be exact. Pick up a $6 phone, plug it in, and dial the number you want to call. Disconnect the phone and solder wires to the GROUND, HANG-UP, and REDIAL buttons. All you need now is two outputs and a few lines of logic.
  2. Winlog Lite

Anybody ever use Winlog Lite HMI software? I'm trying to communicate with a 1747-L40C processor using this software with a 1747-PIC. Having no luck.
  3. When the problem occurs, it will happen every time I try to go online until I either: A - Use a different laptop, or B - Cycle power to the PLC. Either of these two things will allow me to get online.
  4. Nope. That wasn't it. Maybe this helps? Laptop that CAN go online: - Dell Latitiude CPx - Windows 98, Second Edition, Ver 4.10.2222 A - RSLinx Lite, Ver 2.42.00 (Build 18) - RSLogix, Ver 6.20.00 Laptop that CANNOT go online: - Panasonic Toughbook CF-29 - Windows XP Professional, Ver 2002 - RSLinx Classic Lite, Ver 2.50.00 (CPR 7) - RSLogix, Ver 7.00.00 (CPR 7)
  5. The problem is definitely within the laptop. I can go online no problem using a different laptop with the same setting (COM Port Settings, Driver Config, Controller Properties, Channel Config). The only icons showing in the taskbar are: RSLinx, LAN connection, Wireless Network Connection, Speaker Volume, Battery Life, and OfficeScan. I don't think any of these items use the COM port. (Not sure about OfficeScan) Is there any way to see what programs, processes, etc. are trying to access the COM port?
  6. remote contol of SLC 500 fixed I/O

    Great answer! Thanks.
  7. Does anyone know of a way to connect a modem to a SLC 500 fixed I/O with nothing but a DH485 port? I would like to be able to have the PLC call my phone under certain cercumstances and possibly be able to call the PLC and activate inputs.
  8. I'm trying to connect to a SLC 500 Fixed I/O with my laptop, and I keep getting a message, "Communication Loss to Processor - Go Offline/Retry?" When I set up communication, I can see the processor without any red X's through it. I can even upload the program from the PLC. But, when I click "OK" in the "Who Active" screen to go online, I get the message. This happens almost every time with this processor, but I've also seen it happen on a SLC 5/03. Changing laptops doesn't help. The only solution seems to be a power cycle to the PLC. Any idea what's causing this? I attached a screen capture. SLC500_Lock_up.doc
