  1. Hi I have worked with the Honeywell Modutrol motor 5-6 years back and recollecting, I am sure I used the 4-20 mA signal to drive it since the resistors you mentioned across terminals will basically convert it to voltage signal anyways. The Modutrol electronic circuit design is basically based on accepting potentiometric inputs, either from Hand signal of a Potemtiometer or the "Pressuretrol" used in earlier boiler control systems. you can refer to the manual available which shows a basic circuit diagram. As far as damaging the card is considered, it wont get damaged as the output of card is current controlled and hence shorting wont affect it, but if you have the freedom to add a relay, it might prove helpful. Your reference to 2 PID controllers being used cant be understood as there is generally a single loop for this control. But if you can provide details, we can look into it further. Hope this helps.
  2. Hi All We have a "CLIENT" who is asking us whether the specifications of Allen-Bradley hardware (1756-L61, 1756-CN2R, 1756-EN2T,....) related to the EMC compatibility parameters - RADIATED RF IMMUNITY (as per IEC 61000-4-3), EFT/B IMMUNITY ( as per IEC 61000-4-4), SURGE TRANSIENT IMMUNITY ( as per IEC 61000-4-5) and CONDUCTED RF IMMUNITY ( as per IEC 61000-4-6) are actually acceptable as per referred standards and what they should normally be. I have been able to give him a basic understanding on what these parameters are mentioned for, but how can I tell him whether they are within "acceptable limits"? I am having trouble getting any data for this and also IEC publications are not available freely. Please point me to any reference chart for the same (for e.g. it can provide data as: CONDUCTED RF IMMUNITY as per IEC 61000-4-6 < 10Vrms is safe for industrial working space, but maybe it is not suitable for hospitals?). Thanks for any help.
  3. Hi We are working on a project where I have to setup ControlNet communications between SLC5/05, PowerMonitor3000 and LSM(1402-LS51), all connected on ControlNet. Communication of data between SLC & PowerMonitor3000 over ControlNet has been setup. But we are facing problems regarding communicationS from SLC to 1771-ACNR and the LSM module. Require help on how to setup this communications. Thanks
  4. RSLinx getting offline

Maybe you might have upgraded or added a patch to the OS. Also check if you have installed the drivers for the converter properly.
  5. Hi All Is there any way by which we can convert the old Wintelligent view programs to RSView32? Thanks for any help.
  6. The Ethernet/IP card is almost like any other 'PC' on a LAN. You need to get your PC configured on the same set of IP address as the ENBT, but remember all Ethernet addresses need to be unique. Its pretty simple if you know LAN networking basics, but if you are a newbie, try to get some help from any pretty average networking colleague. Once he is able to get your laptop on the network, and you are able to successfully 'ping' the Ethernet/IP card from your laptop (which is mandatory) everything will get pretty simple. You will be able to see the CLX in RSLinx using the Ethernet/IP driver (Just add the driver, no extra configuration is required). Best of Luck! >Always look at the bigger picture.
  7. Remote OPC in RSView32

Thanks for the replies Adrien and Kaiser. I have checked the communications thoroughly. Both PCs can ping each other, Gateway is enabled. I do not want any other OPC. I am just trying to use an inherent feature of RSLinx.
  8. Hi I need help regarding configuring a node in RSView32 as remote OPC server to connect to an OPC topic in other station with RSLinx gateway installed on the remote PC. I have enabled the Gateway, added the RSView32 PCs IP address to the list, etc. But when I try to browse the server while configuring a new tag, I get a message saying 'Conection to server failed'. Thanks for any help. RS
  9. I require info whether the 1734-TB3 can be used instead of 1734-TB for 1734-IB8. I have an IB8 module and a TB3 base, but when a high signal is given to either 4or5 and 6or7 inputs on the TB3, both 4and5 or 6and7 inputs go high in that order. Is this probably because I am using a TB3 instead of TB? Thanks for any help.
  10. Hi. I have succeeded in printing from a PV600+ to a serialport printer using Kepserver's user configurable driver. Now I want to print some runtime data values from the SLC connected to the PV600+ via Ethernet. How can I do this? Thanks for any help
  11. Can anybody detail on the implementation of filter HPF or LPF in Logix controllers. I have a very faint idea of WLead and Order parameters. I want to use the HPF to filter out some noise in the incoming analog signals. I would appreciate if anybody could tell me the WLead , order parameters OR how to tune the filter by trial and error. Thanks RCS
  12. Can we use 1794-TB2 instead of 1794-TB3 for operating 1794-IB16 module? I do not need the +V and COM terminals for conecting the field wires since that arrangement has been already made in the panel on Terminals. I am asking because the Allen-Bradley I/O module Wiring Diagrams pdf Publication CIG-WD001B-EN-P – May 2005 does not show the TB2 base for IB16 installation. Thanks for any help. RCS
  13. We have to use Micrologix1100 (1763-L16BBB) outputs to drive LED bank outputs of load around 12 watts each at 24VDC. With the relay outputs this is OK, but the FET current loading specifications given in the manual seem somewhat confusing to me. They say that each 'point' supports upto 1.5A at 30 deg C. But the total FET current in the same adjacent diagram is 3A. I want to know, barring the relay outputs, whether I can connect a load of 12 Watt to each of these FETs and turn them on simultaneously for a period of approx. 5 minutes? The load is then switched off for 1 minute. Thanks for any help. RCS.
  14. In one of our projects we need to setup a system to monitor a FlexLogix Controller based system with ethernet connectivity at a remote site in client's adminitrative office. We intend to use GPRS connectivity provided by cellular service provider (like Airtel, Idea, etc in India) for this. Is this scheme feasible? What are the possible hurdles that will have to be taken of? My gut feeling is this will be possible once I can ping the PLC's ethernet module over GPRS. Thanks for any help. RCS
  15. At one of our client sites we are required to interface a new CLX system with already exisitng SCADA of Wonderware Intouch 9.5. I want to use the Logix PID faceplates for giving PID interface in SCADA. I have been able to install the ActiveX controls in W'ware but there is no connectivity when using these faceplates using the wonderware CIP driver for Logix. I think one should be able to use these faceplates with any SCADA s/w supporting ActiveX controls. Thanks for any help
