Got to sourceforge.net and do a search. They have acres of programming tools (mostly for Linux boxes) that are free and open source. Source Forge

Here is a screen shot of the sample code that comes with Concept for Modicon PLC's. Hope this is what you want. Sfc.zip

LM90 runs fine under XP. We have been running it in XP for a year or so with no noticeable problems.

Nevermind, found it. http://www.software.rockwell.com/rslogix/ duh

The programming software for allen bradley is called rslogix, right? Can someone post a link? I don't have any experience with this software (yet) but i am about to get a crash course. Thanks

I am pretty sure there is no way to connect to the PLC without first "telling it who it is on the network". Besides, all the GE programming software i have used requires an ip and a mac address for communication, and how would you know the ip if you just plug it into the net and it gets an ip from DHCP. (I think thats right) It's a vicious circle. Better off to plug in serial first.

Someone please help. I have 15 modbus plus devices that i want to connect to a TSX Quantum 140 CPU 534 14. First of all, do i have to assign the PLC an address, or does it do this automatically? Second, i do know that there can be only 4 read operations operations active at the same time. Third, should i use the EFB CREAD_REG or CREADREG? What is the difference? Fourth, how do i setup routing, all this network has are the 15 sensors on a twisted pair. There will be no outbound traffic from the PLC except the request for data. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Sweet! Thanks for the input. I guess i will try this on a weekend since i have to pull the cpu.

I am a GE man. Almost every PLC we have is a GE. I am new here but I noticed that the GE forum only gets a new topic every so often. The Omron, Allen Bradly and Siemens forums get posts all the time. Could this be because GE is the most user friendly and reliable PLC out there??? We have an LM6 PLC that has been running nonstop for at least 10 years that we might work on once a year. And that once a year is usually caused by a power failure. We don't even have a way to communicate with it anymore. I think it is, with Modicon coming in a close 2nd.

I tried to install LM6 with a IC647WMI620 on an ibm-ps2 computer. I'm not sure if the wsi card is any good. When i installed the software it had loads of meaningless characters that came across the screen. I was informed this was because of my lack of the ansi.sys file. Can anyone help me find the ansi.sys file. Also, what are the dip switches on the wsi card.

E-Stop light: On when On or On when Off
Camel replied to tlarmstr's topic in General Topics - The Lounge
The e-stops we use light up when pushed. It comes in handy when someone pushes them when they aren't supposed to, you can walk right up to the one with the light and pull it back out. Remember the K.I.S.S. method!!! -
We have 10 presses. Can you give some specifics? It has been my experience that the feed system is extremely hard to control but the press itself is easy.

I don't want it that bad. Oh well.... Thanks anyway

Steve, Where can I find the info about market shares??
-
Its been my experience that switching between brands isn't as hard as one would think. The basic principal is all the same, the hardest part is the way different brands reference their I/O (i.e. a GE input is %I0001, a Modicon input is 100001, a Direct Logic is X00) and that different brands have different I/O options. I dont have any experience in sales, so i don't have a clue as to what percentage of the market share GE has (although i would love to know where to find this). I have a hard enough time just trying to get myself to buy something let alone anyone else.

Ahhhhhh Haaaaaa!! I contacted Sharp Microelectronics about the specific type of panel I have and they sent me a datasheet that had everything from engineering data about how qvga works to viewing angles on that specific model. Sharp Rocks! Thanks all

Can anyone help me out with QVGA?? I need to know what it stands for and how it works. Any kind of cable pinout would be appreciated too. Thanks in advance!
