Hi, I'm doing a S5 to S7 convertion and came accross the FB159. As far as I could see this is a function that you could buy it from Siemens and it is somehow related to a high speed counting module ( 6ES242-1AA13). But I don't know the inputs and outputs of it in order to convert it to a S7 proper function. Is there anyone S5 expert ??? Thanks in advance, Miguel Ferreira

Have u guys ckeck the serial port parameters? They need to match to the ones on the PC. Also, you can run the soft in a Pentium II and III, but you have to use something like virtual PC to work, and the PC has to have a serial port. Regards, Miguel

To connect to that PLC I have used the serial cable. I now that some serial to usb converters don't work as well in some laptops as in others. To solve the problem once for all, I think, you should pick the all lot (PLC, cable and converters) go to your Omron representative and explain him the situation. I'm sure they will be more than welcome to solve the problem for you. Regards, Miguel

Hi there, I'm not familiar to Rockwell as I should I use more Omron, Siemens and TSX-Modicon I manage to produce a program using the 1769-L31 with ETH, and HSC, but (there's always a but) I'm facing a simple/difficult problem: When I power up the PLC, even with the switch on RUN, It goes to Fault every time (indicating power fail). Although this is understandable in a dangerous machine, so that it wont start up, It's very annoying when it cames to a non dangerous machine. The operator has to switch forward and reverse, several times the RUN-PROG switch until it clears the error and then put it to RUN position. Does anybody know any way so overcome this situation?
